Thanks so much to everyone that's watched so far. In relation to the oil drips mentioned, after consulting with Aprilia, the issue was resolved after a quick service and clean once it was returned to the manufacturer. A spokesperson went onto say this would be an easy quick fix at a local dealership. Hope this helps! Ride safe. Dan, MCN.

I’d say this is a common issue with many bikes. I have had a honda 650 and a husky 701, both brand new, that leaked oil from the oilfilter gaskets. Just a replacement by myself at home and all good. Hope this is the case for the Aprilia as well

Just one criticism - given this was filmed in October, would've been useful to have at least a footnote on whether those apparent oil drips proved serious and if anything needed to be fixed.

@@Nick-hp2ul buy the V2!!..I’m in the UK and have had an 899 Panigale from new 2014 and it’s not had an easy life, I’ve got over 28,000 miles on it now and it’s been faultless 👍 for your extra $2000 aud, your getting almost 50% more power and it sounds a lot better than the parallel twin in the Aprilia. I’ve spent a bit on the 899, BST carbon wheels, K-TEC shock etc and it’s fantastic to ride, I’m struggling to think of anything else I’d replace it with. It will be a little more focused to live with than the Aprilia regards riding position and heat in traffic could be bothersome, where about in Aus are you? I have one RS660, and have done 4 track days so far. Ifound that all eletronic controls changes were quite noticeable at the tracks, specially traction control. There was a 2 sec lap time difference at Estoril, from modes commute to race engine cut at lean and throttle does not responded as fast, also ABS intrudes a lot. At the streets I found only the throttle response to be clearly noticeable when changing engine maps. So, in my opinion those different set-ups serve the purpose.

Late to the party I know! Went to inspect and to sit on of these yesterday, the US edition and here are my thoughts. From only looking and sitting on it (will do a test drive soon). It looks really cheap in some ways. Like a toy. That one they had as a used had only been driven 2730km, meaning barely anything and it already had rust in some places... Even behind the front brake disc on the internal components. Might not be me used to sports bikes but you really sat very aggressive on it even though everyone says comfy for a sports bike. Pegs are too high up as well it feels even though I am 176cm tall, which is not a lot tbh. Paint looks nice, but thin and the stickers are a bit hmm so and so. A bit of a shame it looks and feels rather toyish irl. But that engine howl sounds amazing on videos at least! For reference my current bike is a Trident 660 and it really feels like a very well built kit. Quality wise feels like a much more expensive bike even though there are cheap plastics on it as well here and there. Seat also not the best. I sat on the new Street Triple RS as well. My oh my! If the Aprilia feels like it´s built a bit like a Dacia as a comparison (which is unfair I know). The RS looks to be built as a Bentley or something. Paint so thick and deep, the leather on the seat and the components, even the stand is very solid and looks more expensive than needed. Also felt amazing to sit on, very sporty but much more comfy obviously than aprilia which it is since naked. I will try them both incl the Tuono to see how they feel riding.

@@argieessex my new MT09 has the same" leak", sling off from the chain and sprockets. It getsa lot worse as the bike heat soaks from the cat especially in stop and go traffic. It's not the seals just chain lube that catches in a recess then when leaned over drips out. Once I clean the bike and drive chain it should eliminate this problem. Curious if the rs is the same.

It shows how important long term reviews are. The bikes look fantastic in the showroom, but no new bike should need a whole engine replacement as a recall! That is not trivial! It seems to have cheapy suspension, so you replaced that, tyres lasted 5 minutes, the finish wears easily and now an oil leak!? It shows that bike tests at the time of launch are really not much use at all!

I bet if it was a V twin the second cylinder head would increase the price another $1000 plus. Beautiful machine. But the "Friday afternoon bike" term is a joke. How can a 6k mile bike drip oil? It's practically still brand new. If it was mine, I'd be furious. Plus the engine swap recalls. I just sold a VFR 800 Vtech with 230 000kms. No drips of oil or anything. Has been on the dyno at 200k and still put out factory numbers. Well, I guess the "Friday afternoon bike " term does not exist in Japan 😉

Lol there is Friday sake and Monday hangovers in the Rising Sun too. Worked for long time at a 6brand dealer, saw plenty of them. Check out Hondas 2021 CBR RX4 SP2 and the broken conn rods, failed oil lines, etc. No one is spared of mechanical mayhem. Mr Murphy can hitch a ride anytime.

Mine VTR 1000 cc engine was replaced under warranty juste after 3000 km by Honda in 1999. In 2017 Honda also replaced mine Africa Twin 1000 cc engine under warranty at 11000 km. All brands has problems on new products, as 660cc is a new engine, let's see in future. The oil drips problem is very well known for now - it is oil filter cover gasket (easy fix).

@@crazyosva rough go of things with Honda! Interesting info Thanks for sharing! My Firestorm is still running with 50000 miles on it, never done nothing besides modify it and replace the charging system. Though she rattles a tad it will still spank my brand new 21 MT09. Our examples are proof of good and bad in everyone of them.
