I liked this review. I have this bike and I’m 51 and 6 foot 1 and love it. It’s also only my second bike since passing my test last September, so has enough aids to let you go at your own pace and turn them off one at a time when you feel comfortable to do so. I’m really pleased with it. No faults either. Seen lots of stories of engine warning lights etc but I’ve had not one issue. Have clocked up 2500 miles since delivery in March and only ride it on weekends, so that probably tells you something. Great review, agree on all these points. You have a new subscriber.

Great review. I recently bought the Tuono 660 as it felt more comfortable and just as sporty. It really is a perfect bike for everything except long motorway rides but that's not what it is intended for. For the moment, I really can't fault it and it puts a huge smile on my face every time I ride. I prefer the mapping of Dynamic mode, but Commute does the job around town.

@@timrodierides It really does. I rode it after testing the Street Triple RS, thinking that a twin would sound flat, but it's quite intoxicating. Waiting until it is run in before discovering the top end of the rev range😀

Having ridden the R7 now would you stump up the extra for the RS660? Also would you say the RS660 is a bike that’s fun on the road at all speeds even for some easy exploring or is it a bike that eggs you on to ride it faster and really a sunday blast type machine ?

What a a cracking review, really enjoyed it. I recently tested the APrilia RS 660 and thoroughly enjoyed every second. To be quite honest I didn't wanna take the bike back to Via Moto in Sheffield! ( big thanks to Malcolm in sales ). Yeah it ain't my old 12 plate R6 lunatic license loosing bonkers M****r F*****g R6, but at 55 it just ticks all the right boxes! I really loved the bike, yeah the possibility of reliability issues does put me off ( only slightly though! ), but what a fekin awesome all round bike! nice one Aprilia, who ever put this bike up for production absolutely fekin nailed it in one!

It's funny how the 600cc sports bike category died it's death some while ago now, yet here they are creeping back as 1000+cc bikes are to much for the road. Bring it on I say, but I doubt that Aprilia could make me smile as much as my 22 year old GSXR 600 SRAD. Now thats got an induction noise!

I’ve owned 2 CBR600s which I found to be as quick, probably quicker than my fuel injected 1982 GPZ1100 B2 Kawasaki and capable of more performance than most sane people could handle. For a sporty oriented road bike, I can’t see why anyone would want anything larger in terms of capacity or performance. It would go well beside my Beemers- R80GS/R100GSs . These days it would be a Suzuki Vstrom 650 and one of these.

What i'd like to know is, can you make a 3 to 4 hour trips with it? ot you are going to be grumpy by the end of the ride? I mean for summer vacations and such once or twice a year. Which include 350 km of motorway at least. I have fallen in love with this bike and i don't really like its more naked version (Tuono) that i know has a more upright comfy potition for longer rides/trips. Please i'd like an answer to that since i have seen every video there is about it and no one really talks about the longer ride aspect of it. Great video by the way!

We need more of these so called sensible sportbikes, I dont need 200bhp, around 100 on the wheels mind you is more then enough if the weight is in the right range so to speak. But this one is a budgetbike in disguise. Look at the materials used for instance when it comes to the fairings and he head lights. The swingarm is pure 80-90s 250/400 class, but that is a personal thing. What grinds my gears with the rs660 is that the spec is too low for the price. For the price it should weigh at least 10kg less than a st3 or d675. this bike is heave because it is a budget bike with electrical gizmos you dont need on such bike. Just get an used D675 for half the price with the same weight and 30 bhp more. And yes it handles superbly as well.
@kamprikorn
@kamprikorn 3 жыл бұрын
its not the electronics im pretty sure its the chassis and frame. and the D675R is in another class so you can’t compare it and say its better than this lol
@kamprikorn
@kamprikorn 3 жыл бұрын
i agree that it is overpriced tho they shouldve had a model w/o the electronics thats cheaper
@Pillokun
@Pillokun 3 жыл бұрын
@@kamprikorn price wise is about the same, we can compare a st3 765 for instance. The bikes in question are pretty much aiming for similar "crowd" and price is very similar. Itis not like we compare the rs660 to a retro classic or a cruiser/custom. Take a look how cheap the frame and swing arm looks, 100% that without the aids it would be far cheaper.

Tim, you review lots of bikes & I bought a '23 Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory last August. Sadly, I only put 260 miles on it (Cancer: radiation/Chemo, Immunotherapy, recovery...) & it sits in storage w/ Aprilia's, Ducati's & Moto Guzzi's 'til I pick it up. Was the ride memorable? I'm asking since my riding has been extremely limited over the last year or so. Did you write an article to go with the video? I OWN it, so - if you hated it - too late, I already OWN it. Just checking to see if the ride was interesting enough to remember. Thanx in advance! Dave

The clip ons are above the triple tree, in digference to most supersports. So yes its way more relaxed. So you basically have to actively move your chest down to have the same position as you would have on a proper supersport.

As an owner of a Ducati supersport I’m intrigued by this bike. Have you ridden both? I’m happy with my duc but the lighter weight of this seems appealing. But my riding style appreciates low rpm torque and I’ve seen reviews of this that suggest it doesn’t come alive until 8000rpm.
@dernicolas6281
@dernicolas6281 Жыл бұрын
looking into both bikes and currently on a shiver 900 I think the 660 is just the slightly sportier choice while the duc being more of a sports tourer.. low rpm torque is clearly not the idea of the rs I think

I think I'll trade in my gorgeous, but stupidly powerful & torquey GSXR750 L7 for one of these. I nearly ran wide a while back which I never did on prev. SV650S. If I end up wringing the RS660's neck then that's better than being intimidated, and hopefully there'll be the option of a 110bhp 150kg RS690-R by then (drool).

I had a GSXR750 SRAD way back and that thing made me almost shit my pants on more than one occation. The only reason I am now back on a sportbike 15 years later is the (black) RS660 i ordered in May. Soon to be 50, and a little on the heavier side, this bike fits me perfectly and I love it! Fun but not scary. Great engine sound, even with the original exhaust. Great commutor when in commute mode and probably fun as hell on a track for someone who hasn't done that a lot (me). Highly recommended!
