This lady is ‘the real deal’... Total respect.. Never mind your Ewans & your Charlie’s with their film crew and back up team - this lady was on her own! No mobiles, internet or sat Navs, just a map when she was lucky, her wits, and a sense of direction.. Fascinating story.

The real thing. Nothing fake, fronted or imaged. Just one hell of a person who did one hell of a thing because she wanted to. One has to both respect and admire such a person and take inspiration from her achievement, her thoughts and her words....

What an awesome lady who went on an awesome adventure. Love that she still has the bike! She's totally right, it'll never be the right time, and you'll never be able to work out details, so you just gotta do it. Crazy to think about.

I also hit a Dog in Thailand, bloody things are suicidal over in South East Asia. Northern Thailand has some superb twisty roads though, well worth a visit. The Mae Hong Son Loop is a worthy mention as is riding the Golden Triangle.

Elspeth is an ordinary person doing an extraordinary thing. She represents what is best about the no-nonsense, get-on-with-it, grit that can be found in the Brits. I find it interesting that she acknowledges that the world is not full of unicorns and rainbows, and admits that she rode in modest clothing in some parts of the world. In our age of virtue signalling, Elspeth simply gets on with the job quietly and sensibly. It appears that she did not do this trip to prove anything to anyone. Elspeth does not play gender politics, and that is very refreshing to see in a genuinely accomplished person. Kudos to Elspeth, and to MCN for bringing this story to the attention of so many!

It does seem it would be boring to plan everything and then live by it. that is removing half the adventure. The first day when I left home didn't know where I was going to spend the night nor each nite after all the way thru the trip.
@threethrushes6 жыл бұрын
In our sanitised, safe, planned Western world, the sense of adventure has been all but lost. As people get sucked into virtual worlds, the spirit of adventure becomes ever more rare.
