They probably add traction control because it's free when you have drive-by-wire and the sensors for ABS.

As a r7 owner the tech and dash on this should really be on the r7 and why has a 125cc got tc but a 690cc hasn’t

because yamaha wants sales. does not value safety for big bikes etc.

Loved the Bionicle joke! Definitely grew up in a similar timeframe (even though it was in Italy for me). I got to see the swansong of legal 125 2 strokes while in high school (legal meaning they were legal on the paperwork, but fully unrestricted 😅), so swarms of Aprilia RSs & Cagiva Mitos, with the odd Husqvarna and KTM. The air had a different smell at lunch time! These two bikes definitely look the part. Not sure on the price - seems high for a teenager (if you add insurance on top). But, to be fair, a colleague of mine rode his 4 stroke R125 he got during high school well into his early 20s - being frugal on fuel and perfectly suited to around town/suburbia... hell, even some light touring with a bag strapped on the rear seat and a small tank bag. It's good to see a manufacturer investing in tech for a 125! If I was a teenager now, I'd personally lust after the Fantic Caballero 125

Overpriced for a 125. 5 grand is used middleweight territory and i don't know how manufacturers are thinking a 17 year old will have 7 grand plus roughly including insurance. These bikes are usually bought by people who dont know bikes and want to buy the best looking 125 without caring about the power and not waiting until they get a bigger bike. Just get something that will look after you for a few years and will allow you to learn and then get a middleweight like an r3 or ninja 400

We have two 155cc yamaha R15 and MT-15 with exact same design and features in India 😂 but we got 20HP in them. Yamaha really played it smart. Same design with different power figures in different continents. 😂

Got my R15M Monster Edition (18.4 hp, 14.2 Nm) for less than $2500. Decently quick for our small backroads in the mountains. The 125cc model seems a bit pricey imo.

I do recall seeing an indicated 100mph on a full power RD125 LC which allegedly put out in excess of 20bhp however that was 40 years ago 😢 before restrictions took hold in the UK.
@rocketfludy2873 Жыл бұрын
Manufacturers tend to over exaggerate indicated speeds even before restrictions. 100 is really not very possible for a 125 unless you get a bore kit. Actual top speed is around 85 for a top end 125 sadly :/

Are these bikes available anywhere with an unrestricted engine, for full licence holders or places where life is not regulated to death? I have big bikes but I actually get far more fun riding an old DT125RE on the road than most of the others.

Yeah i made the same decision, glad i did because 5 grand is used ninja 400 territory with less than 2000 miles. No point wasting your money on premium brands with only an a1 license imo

@@Kaner95 That may be, but spending an extra 2 grand plus for a bit of extra performance, would not have been worth it for me for a bike I'll spend 1 or 2 years on (got my CBT at 28 last year). As for reliability, I'm 3,000 miles in and I haven't had a single issue with the bike, and I have the peace of mind of the 2 year warranty. And it looks the part too which is nice, get plenty of positive comments on it. Not got a single regret :)

i brought an mt 125, and the reason being is i need something which isn't going to give me headache and is reliable. the bike i had before that was a ktm rc 125, which i brought brand new, and covered 41000 miles on. The ktm was good, but towards the end became very unreliable with problems, and eating into my wallet. so i don't think paying more for something is a bad thing. i use my mt now to commute to work, and is perfect for that. plus i don't get a bad back, and weight on my wrists with the mt.

yes because 125 nowadays made for a beginner and as a learner's bike so they limit the power on 15ps at max. and it's 4 stroke, can't compare to a 2 stroke

@@WhyDaroOdaarra Yes time change I think I wrong direction. Because before as a beginner you could get bike not to fast but trilling ,now beginners get small bike it is not fast enough and then they straight go for 1000 and they are in trouble. So they jump to big gap. And I was riding 250 two stroke ,later 600 sport bike almost same trill. So I miss two strokes. All these new bikes have to much tech too. So skills went down big time.
@afletra Жыл бұрын
@@milantomich6568 the situation were quite different, what year it is when you're 16? 1992? it's 30 years ago. the regulation change over the years, people considering safety factor much more nowadays. 15-ish horsepowers are quite plenty for "learners", maximum speed of 120-130ish km/h (80mph) is dangerous enough for someone who just got their first bike. nowadays road is nowhere like the old times, it's more crowded, a lot of fast vehicle around, etc. jokes or not, there are a lot of factors to be considered when making this small bike. I own and ride a 2 stroke aprilia RS125 too, although maybe it's nowhere as fast as yours cagiva mito, but I understand the thrills of the old 125. but we simply can't compare that time to current era. because the 2 stroke 125 back then is kinda like 4 stroke 250 or 300 today. the 2 stroke superbike were 500-ish right? now superbike is 1000cc because it's 4 stroke. so can't really compare 2 stroke 500cc sportbike in the 80s-90s with 500cc 4 stroke sportbike today. but yeah, 2 stroke will always awesome.

what a fu***ng joke, the 125cc bike has vva and the top of the line r1 and r1m does not. I've been waiting for yamaha to put some variable valve actuation in the r1m since 2020 and they just kept banging out the same old sh*t year after year. It is disappointing for me with the big bike but good news for my kids who are going through the cbt.
