The price of propane is very stable the last time the price went up was several years ago from the $1.49 to $1.99 a gallon. But it's not about emissions it's truly about control and more money for the elite. Your best fuel mileage is not 55 mph it's more around 15 mph. The slower you drive the more you fuel mileage will pick up massively. The slower you can turn your tachometer down the road the greater fuel mileage you will get in anything!

I live in Northern California. As this stories airs on this and other KZbin channels - I received an alert from PG&E (our electric utility in California) that due to high winds they will likely shut off our power for 2-3 days. During the past few summers, PG&E had to shut off our power due to high winds. Never since 2010 has PG&E ever shut power off for weather. However, we did have flex your power days in the summertime when there was not enough power to meet the demand. Just recently CARB passed a law stating no more gas appliances, small gas engines and generators in California; no gas cars to be sold after 2035. I have all gas appliances and a 100 A electrical main service. Just think of the impact to the already stressed electrical grid and power generation system that will happen in the next few years as everyone is forced to electrify. The cost of electricity will skyrocket to cover the expansion of the grid and power generation. It will cost me thousands to upgrade my electrical service and appliances - and I will not be able to afford the electric to run them! I'm 60 and retired so it's a huge hit and something that will affect me in my senior years. I think it's going to be the end of large motorized motorhomes. The campgrounds we go to are remote and there is no way they can upgrade the infrastructure to handle charging these big rigs. Some are only 30A and have serious voltage drop in the summertime when everyone is running their AC's. How do you boondock with an EV and no generator? We also do dog shows that have no power - that will be out for us. We will keep our F53 until they no longer make parts for it. I think RV'ing will die a slow death up to 2050. I'll be long gone by then; last of the RV'ers. History will tell the story of how the covered wagons went west and how people's grandparents used to travel the great country when it was free.

Especially, as these vehicles are rarely moved, charging is needed before longer trips. Why don't they increase the solar panel capacity? If instead of 400 KWP there are 1400 KWP, one day of standing in the sun would give you around 14/15 kw per day. That is not much but would allow you to recharge your vehicle enough to get from that "remote" location to some place with charging infrastructure to do the rest of the recharging.
@jimcalver-oj4xfАй бұрын
@@jornott8399Yes, agreed. We should stop expecting the infrastructure to support you. The solar angle is possible, for certain, and a hybrid motorhome might be allowed under CARB details so you 'could' support yourself for a modest charge rate in a location with no chargers. Solar!

Terrific post above. Vote Republican today on your way out of California! People will go to other states to register their cars. Manufacturers too! The one good bet is if you own a solar manufacturing company. PG&E caused a lot of people's deaths. They have to turn it off when it's windy. Their infra-structure is shot! Get metal roofs and homes with clear southern exposure for solar. Sell your power back to your city. If you're in a fire or flood zone, your homeowner's insurance is about to go through the roof. Anyone with a mortgage is required to carry homeowner's.

Now there's a recall saying dont charge or regenerate the electric system. And don't park near other vehicles or structures as they may combust (even while driving). Because Chrysler so wisely used Samsung batteries that can explode under a partial charge. Great choice after their exploding phone fiasco a few years ago. They have no solution. I guess my solution is to park it next to my motorhome. 😂😂😂 uuggh Our Country is not equipped for this yet. Our community, and many others in NYS, are already at risk due to their ban on appliances, furnaces, etc that are not electric. Living in a rural area (most of NY is rural for those that don't know) where people rely on propane for heat, we have many rural, and even off grid houses with no alternative. With a 246KWh battery 213 usable and an efficiency of around 1.4 KWh per mile. (Hummer gets 1.6 mi/KWh and semi gets .59mi/KWh{1.7KWh/mi}). The RV could also have a 6KW solar array on the roof. At night, it could go 151 miles between charges. The solar could add 10.7miles during the 2.5 hours it would take to drive that distance during the day at 60mph. 162 miles with existing tech is not that bad. Fast charging and a range extender could help with that. The solar could recharge the battery in 7 days with no other loads.

Surely some aftermarket emissions scrubber would be less onerous to impliment (while the use of DEF is already being implimented now). This being in response to the lack of affordable housing and high costs of building extensions onto existing homes. Whereas the use of an RV quickly provides immediate availability of often, much needed living space, as long as one can provide on-site parking for the RV and a 30A or 50A electrical hook-up, plus availability of a septic tank for it's periodic waste disposal.

Thats a lot to unpack. I heard a ton about motorhomes diesel problems. Will the act states have issues with a 1 ton diesel pickup?
@judithlabarbera107Ай бұрын
We bought a used ram 2500 diesel in CA specifically for pulling a towable for the next 15 years. After that we will age out and probably before that will move to Nevada

They will repeal this law as aoon as it starts costing them real money. It won't stop RVs in those states. It will just stop sales and registration in those states. It's the money that will leave. Not the RVs. They stay. Just with out of state plates.
@gdt5430Ай бұрын
You'd think so but trust me, CA will have an enforcement program for out of state plates on new non-compliant vehicles. Your Plate Registration better match your state of legal residence as indicated by the IRS. They have access to those electronic records and they will use them.

@@gdt5430 Some states, like South Dakota, have made it very easy to make theirs your legal state of residence. I imagine that many who want these motorhomes will consider this path.

My problem with RV's is not the emissions, but that people with the same license as a passenger vehicle can drive a vehicle that is the same size as a bus. State driver licensing standards mean there are a lot of incompetent drivers driving huge vehicles on the road. That being said, why would regulations in a single state - California - affect the rest of the country? That only affects the registration of RV's in California.

If dealers are impacted to the point of closing, what happens to maintenance and repair?

Can you imagine an EV RV battery fire? MASSIVE lawsuits in the making, and start with suing California. Better make every window an emergency escape.
@davidgates1122Ай бұрын
More like every RV needs an escape system like the Apollo rockets or fighter jet ejection seat systems, capable of totally removing you from the campground in 10 seconds.
@frotobaggins7169Ай бұрын
A fire while sleeping would almost certainly be lethal for everyone inside as the smoke would quickly subdue everyone inside rendering them unable to escape.

So how many EV battery fires globally have there been in the last 10 years.Its no where near as many as you probably think

The big class A's need to change over to diesel electric hybrid power. Electric axles, a huge battery pack and then just use the engine as a generator - like a locomotive. The kids up in BC already have a running prototype "Edison motors" you can see. They have tons of power. In an RV they'll be able to use the battery pack for the house portion to boon dock. This is something that should have happened years ago. Its very easy for Freightliner or Spartan to do. Its their job, not the class A manufacturers.
@amicidavinciАй бұрын
Diesel electric is still diesel, not zero emissions.
@porteeabАй бұрын
Yeah, great idea except it has zero application here as CARB is demanding zero emissions. Edison's diesel electric solution is not zero emissions.

Register and become a resident of South Dakota. It's easy, the state is an "Open Registration" state. Travel to SD, sleep there one night and turn in your CA tags and CA driver's license. No more CA BS laws and high taxes. Search KZbin for South Dakota residency. Just what I would want, a foolish electric RV......
@travelswiththebeast3337Ай бұрын
That works if you live full-time or majority part-time and don’t work in a state. If you are employed or live more than 6 months in a state, you are considered a resident of that state.

Von Hool makes an Electric Motorcoach. They had one make a trip from California to Florida. The drivers seemed to enjoy driving it. However the main problem they had was the lack of charging stations and when they found them the Super Chargers didn't work. The coach took up three spaces because it couldn't fit and if someone came in with a car they were out of luck. I can't recall how many days the original days the trip called for but it took days longer. BTW Freightliner is owned by Daimler. They have EV's with Mercedes.
