If honda makes the body structure to hatchback , I would immediately buy it. Same interior, same engine, suspension setup. Think of it as new jazz. The compact sedan is just not as appealing. Need a competitor to i20 and baleno from honda.

As a software engineer who works with bettor various AI systems at work. I have a natural distrust towards it. No matter how good the neural network is or how big the training data set is. There are always cases where AI hallucinates or misclassified. For structured applications like trains. This is no problem. But in such a chaotic and dynamic environment like roads (More so Indian roads). No way I’m trusting ADAS. I still assume that I’m in charge of the safety.

Same here, hallucinations are fine. We add a small disclaimer on the screen. That small disclaimer in ADAS could be fatal.

@@Styyxxxx you are missing point of ADAS, it's not for chaparies with XUV700, poking head from sunroof and leaving the steering. Many accidents happen due to dosing off. Imagine when you start to dose off... The lane assist will try to keep back.. and it will vibrate.. which will alert driver. In span of 5 years even if this saves one accident... Won't it make worth spending.

I have goodyear assurance on fronx, excellent wet grip;while the stock tires on my GV just don't lose tire pressures ( I am amazed ) ), pros and cons of going for high end tires on our regular cars etc.

Will the CNG be available with automatic(CVT)? If it does, it will be interesting as first CVT and CNG combo. Also, as far as I know, added weight of CNG kit needs suspension adjustment. How will it affect handling etc will be interesting as well.

I'm waiting for Kylaq. I've prebooked it for ₹15k, I did it at the start of dec, but only now yesterday it was showcased to public in a shopping mall in Coimbatore. Not a single vehicle in showrooms yet. It should be available in showrooms by mid Jan is what dealers say. Looks like Skoda is slow and steady with it. Deliveries begin at the end Jan.

Went to see the car, and when I talked about bookings and delivery, the sales person said that the Signature+ would be delivered only by March end or April beginning. While the Classic is not even available apparently. I don't understand if Skoda is slow or if they are just not concerned enough. Anyway, have shifted my focus to Kia Syros now.

Great review! I saw the launch and immediately went out to test drive the manual variant just a few days later and ended up booking it on the same day. I loved the car when I drove it and it was exactly what I was looking for as a daily city car. I've driven the Honda City a lot in Malaysia and the Amaze felt just like a mini city when I drove it. Everything Karthikeya mentioned in the review is what I felt about the car. I'm happy Honda had the embargo on on opinions and gave people the chance to test drive the car before the reviews were out because most other reviews just talk non important stuff like missing out on a sunroof and hardly talk about the real experience of driving the car. After I booked the car, I watched these reviews and thought to myself that most people are missing out on how well honda has improved the Amaze this time around. Again, nice review and everything you mentioned in the review resonated with exactly how I felt about the car. :)

Absolutely, agreed with what you said. Most of the reviews were not true to the fact that how well put through this car is and how well it drives. I booked it on 6th of Dec as soon as I test drove it. Got the vehicle delivered few days back. It's just killer. Bought the zx manual a week ago and have driven for about 400 kms. I must say the engine is super refined, so is the gearbox. Comfort would be fine for a nuclear family. It gets all the necessary features needed in a car. Power is decent for city rides, for highway overtaking you just need to drop down a gear. Nvh levels are good. Brakes are good. Suspension is mid-tuned, both for comfort and handling.

Bad roads! That won’t be a problem. But overall - the Dzire’s torquier engine will be better for those inclines.

Hullo! The headroom and legroom is more in the Baleno. Also the fuel efficiency is better there too. The Baleno doesn’t feel airy like the Amaze though. And the sense of richness - the plastics and colours is better in the Amaze. Our advice - check out the Glanza too. 😄

My uncle's left knee is in constant pain, he's been driving a dzire manual for the last ten years in Delhi's traffic for 45 minutes. Even his doctor advised him to switch to an automatic. Already booked the Zx mt, choosing the higher trim only because of diamond cut alloy wheels and lane watch camera And i find there's only 60k difference between the VX and Zx, which actually kinda justifies the price of lane watch camera and new set of alloy wheels. And thank god that the adas system is not much interfering.

I really appreciate that you took time so that you will get all details and not jump into saying I am the first to give drive impressions without knowing the variants, dimensions and price. Now a days in the name of launch companies are displaying Top end cars and giving price of base variant. I was shocked to know skoda has capped the production of base variant to 10%. I still remember when I went to book the base variant of Brezza showroom guy openly said, the production is so low that I may have to wait 6 months and all other 3 variants are ready in stock.

Decisions like that for all Japanese vehicles are made in the head office in Japan @dj370z. So, even if it isn't a CBU, making these changes come down to whether the folks in Japan think it is necessary.

How is the clutch? You missed it. I have the second gen pre-facelift Amaze. Clutch is very hard especially for city travel. The thighs will get a workout in our car. I have taken to service centre and they say its functioning well.

Vivek, we feel you. And sound dampening mats and foam are available. They will help. However, the knowledge of where to apply which material is not so straightforward. But, if you find a person capable of doing so. We’d recommend it.

I test drove the Amaze yesterday. The sales person openly told that the Adas isn't working properly so they have turned the features of in the car 😅. Haven't tried the adaptive cruise yet due to test driving the car in bumper to bumper traffic. But the cabin is good but not the best comparatively.

​@@motorinc 45:24 I'm a tall person 5'11 so the space aspect is pulling me away from getting one. I drove a CVT one, even with that it's hard to find ample knee and leg room to rest my leg! Also the rear AC vents are absurdly placed which would definitely get in the way of the 3rd passenger. I'm oscillating between Amaze and Dzire. But, I would wait till the Syros prices are revealed to see if the mid variant is within my budget for a better cabin space.

Get the Baleno now. Facelift will bring the Z series engine. That’s definitely a step down. Unless you are tied to the form factor of the sedan, the larger hatch is the better pick. Also, check out the Glanza!

If nvh of amaze is better than Elevate, then it confirms Honda screwed up Elevate big time..and bad nvh is definite deal breaker for many..couple of missing features are fine..

Wonderful review as always. The insulation improvement part makes me jealous though as I am an owner of the first iteration of Honda City 5th gen. I like everything the car is offering, no complaints at all.... But my only issue continues to be sound insulation. #motorinc community anyone with a tried and tested solution to make a significant improvement in this area ? Happy to know the safety has gone up quite a notch. Wasn't expecting it to have been prepared for Euro Ncap. Booked the Honda Amaze VX CVT as soon as I checked the design, pricing and drive quality. Though I am completely satisfied, my fear is Honda may not be able to sell enough of them simply because the competition is almost equally good.

One important feature you forgot, that's the ground clearance, which is 172 mm vs desires 163 mm.

Thanks for bringing that in. Don’t go by just numbers, how the suspension deals with different loads and roads can affect actual ground clearance. We’ll test it out when we spend more time with it.

And finally you both hit the nail on the head -- Honda should have implemented similar insulation under the Engine/Chasis to reduce cabin noise. is front arm rest available as genuine accessory? I own 2015 VW 1.2MPI Polo Manual. Driving for more than 10 years now. I want to upgrade to CSUV now, but Creta/Taigun is costing around 20 lakhs. But I feel it is too costly. 1.5 Litre Engine NA CVT Creta is my personal choice as most of my driving is City (Chennai) and around 6 times highway runs between Chennai-Madurai. Should I upgrade or Can i consider Amaze 1.2L NA CVT? Amaze will cost me 50% less money. Will I miss not buying Creta? orrrr final choice, live with my Polo (mint condition, no problem till date) for another 5 years till RC expiry? Pls Advise

If the Polo is running fine - use it. Five years later - the dust will have settled and you’ll be able to get many better options for a car that you would want to hold onto for the next 15 years.
