13:13 Hot Topic There is a recall on some US gas Tucson models with the console shifter. This recall does not affect Canadian Tucson models as all Tucson models in Canada have a column shifter. The recall also affects some Santa Cruz models in both Canada and the US with the console shifter. They have been recalled for a possible wiring defect that could make them roll away unexpectedly.

With incentives still available in Canada this is one of the vehicles that the Plugin actually ends up at about the same price or sometimes even cheaper than the hybrid. So if you gave access to 120V or 240V near where you park, or get a good rebate like the 10K in NB then the plugin is the obvious choice.

Great review. Drove the lower trim gas Kia cousin to the on a recent trip. Agree that the transmission was laggy (got worse when you were in sport mode), noisy on the road and yes, I could not fit a standard plastic water bottle in the door compartment (even though the side panel had the designated shape for a water bottle). My wife was shocked by this and it was our joke during our entire trip. I have to admit the seats were pretty comfortable. Radio was subpar (not sure if this changes on the higher models). But the suspension off a dirt road was not good. Had to slow down due to the hopping the car would start to do when I started driving it above 35 mph. Not for everyone, but was expecting more since I know the starting price is a little bit on the higher side for what you get.

I lease a 2022 Tucson Hybrid. Absolutely love it. Like the changes with the new version. I get an Average 6.7 over the past 3 years. All 4 seasons. You obviously use more fuel with winter tires and cold weather. Go for the hybrid if you can for the smoother ride with more power. I didn't necessary get it for the fuel savings. Although I figured I saved between $600 to $700 per year in fuel cost then the all gas engine 20000km. Here in Ontario 1.50 per litre. It also Depends on how you drive. That said the top of the line Gas is $4300O where the top Hybrid is $50000. So it will take quite a few years to see a fuel savings if that's the main reason you are going with the hybrid. I just ordered the plug in (only one model to choose,) and will be getting it in February. With the Rebate it works out to be almost be the same price as the top of the line hybrid model. FYI the US top plug in is $48000 on their website . Convert to CDN is $65000. Big discrepancy in price.

I do drive a 2025 gas model in Canada. I did feel that the drive is very sluggish at the beginning. But with the use of Shell, I would say that I feel I don’t feel it sluggish anymore. Turbo is far more better engine though. I feel the major downside of this vehicle is mostly the rear side turn signals which are placed almost to the bottom of the car which makes it invisible for the driver behind me if he is too close. So we have to take a caution when turning from a full stop if there are cars behind.

So you are both biased towards gas only vehicles Fair enough that’s your prerogative What you don’t mention is the width of the interior which is far superior to both Toyota RAV4 and Honda CRX I was expecting to buy a RAV4 until I sat inside. Very disappointing as it felt crowded compared to the Tucson Also if you want to have sportier drive why didn’t you mention the available Sport mode selection on the centre consul That does change the drive considerably. At least in my Tucson anyway I find the 2.5 4 cylinder has plenty of power. You have to remember it is just that, a 4 cylinder, no turbo and not the power of a 6 cylinder I have only had this vehicle for 4 months but love it so far. 2025 Tucson preferred with Trend pkg . My last car was a 2007 Sonata I had for 18 yrs with relatively no issues. I can only hope this lasts as well. Over all enjoyed your review.

Consumers - NEVER EVER buy a Hyundai product or else you may be LEFT FOR DEAD just like me. I bought a brand new Santa Fe Hybrid Luxury in 2023 and my experience so far has been a nightmare to say the least. The vehicle has major safety issues (e.g.: vehicle failing to slow down/ stop on cruise control), providing photo & video evidence to prove the issue was not enough for Hyundai Canada to take immediate action and instead I have been left to battle this by sending it for a million diagnostics tests. Finally, I had no option but to take them the matter for arbitration (an alternative to a court). The judgement is coming soon but it is shocking that a manufacturer (& Transport Canada) would allow this to happen. This could have easily become a criminal case if an accident would have occurred and then I would have been blamed for it when it is truly a technical snag. If you buy their product, your safety and that of the public will be at risk and Hyundai would only be silent spectators! SHAME ON HYUNDAI FOR PUTTING THE PUBLIC & CUSTOMERS AT RISK ONLY TO MAKE $$$, ABSOLUTELY DISGRACEFUL!!
