Just purchased a 2025 Tucson Hybrid Limited at 0% finance rate. (36 or 48 mo. is available). The highway drive assist is only HDA1 (not HDA2 with auto lane change) but even HSA1 tracks perfectly in the center of the lane on the highway. The heads up display is awesome, shows blind spots, shows road sign recognition, it will show a photo of the person calling from your contacts, & song info. when the song changes. The Tucson came standard with with digital key 2 which allows you to start the car from your phone to precondition - for free for as long as you own the vehicle. 5 year warranty and 10 years on powertrain and hybrid system, cannot be beat.

I have a 25 Tuscon limited as well, I am incredibly happy with it, aside from the gas mileage. The meter reads about an average of 35 mpg, cool. No problem there, but pump calculations say it's 30 mpg. Granted - I have not reached the 4000 Mile break in yet. And I got it around the time gas stations started putting the winter fuel in. I'll have to wait until summer to see the difference. My very first car was an 08 Kia rondo. There is a night and day difference from the KIA and Hyundai cars of then, to today. Hopefully it stays reliable.

Great comparison. One thing that most people don't know about the Tucson Limited is that it received the worst possible rear auto brake rating from IIHS. You can watch their testing video of it just ramming into pillars and vehicles without stopping. People always bring up Hyundai's great technology, but some of it doesn't even work. Also, the rear turn signal location is another whole danger.

Huge differences between the Rav4 Hybrid and Tucson Hybrid transmission choices. Rav4 has a motor to the rear wheels that can only provide about 25% of the total power to the rear wheels. If you lose the rear motor or battery power you are front wheel drive only. Tucson has a driveshaft and a locking differential - there is no comparison. Further, on the ride comfort comments - if you'd try baby mode on the Tucson - you'd be surprised how smooth the ride is even on 19's.

The decision to choose the Tucson over the RAV is pretty easy, especially when you look at the lower trims of each... & factor in Hyundai discounts vs. Toyota's MSRP-or-higher pricing. While I agree that Toyota certainly has a REPUTATION and HISTORY of better reliability, it's hard to ignore the really poor styling AND the cheapness of interior materials & interior of the RAV. It's just not a good value. This is partly why back in April, we chose the Tucson Hybrid in its BLUE (base) model over the competition; it was even nicer than the Toyota Venza. And yes, we also looked at (Mazda CX-30, 5, & 50), the Buick envision, Forester, etc. The Tucson just has a much more premium look and feel, especially when you're looking at low-$30's pricing.

They made a new Tucson and facelifted it before an all new RAV4. It's a great facelift, too, since it refined the exterior and significantly improved the interior. Both RAV4 and CR-V look very outdated and are overpriced. New Sportage facelift will also further increase competition in this segment. Toyota and Honda are very slow with improvements and facelifts. It is hard to justify getting the current RAV4 at its price compared to the competition. It is a 2019 model at its core and interior has aged like milk.

Since I am 66 years old and I keep my cars for 10 years, then realistically, this will probably be my last vehicle i will ever buy. But this I can say for sure....... I want the new look of the Tucson but I want the Hybrid reliability of the RAV4. So I remain in my quagmire. And I say the same thing if i consider buying the Santa Fe Hybrid vs the Toyota Highlander hybrid as to have 3 rows when toting around the grandkids. So I will more than likely go with the Dealership that gives me the best deal on the 4 SUV's mentioned. Although part of me wants to wait one more year because Toyota insiders are saying that RAV4 is being totally redesigned for 2026 which makes me wonder do I wait until this time next year or not.

Hyundai and Kia vehicles offer a great value for features proposition. Their vehicle quality has made great strides since they first arrived on our shores back in the late 80's and early 90's. Their build quality is on par with Toyota. Their mechanical quality still lags significantly, however. It will be interesting to see how the new generation of engines lasts. They set themselves back significantly with all of the blown engines in several of their models and the way they denied warranty replacements on many of them lost a lot of customers and caused a lot of bad will in the marketplace. You had transmission issues with BOTH of your Hyundai long term vehicles. Your Santa Fe issue may have been a fluke unique to that vehicle, but what about the jumping/twitching after starting your Sonata N Line? Did they ever figure that out? There's a huge amount of vehicles on the road now with that DCT transmission in them. Are they ticking time bombs and will the 100K warranty cover them.....or will they look for ways to weasel out again like with the engines? The Toyota subscription model to make installed features work is a NO GO for me. Aside from satellite radio (which is like cable TV and I have no problem paying for that) and perhaps some advanced/enhanced navigation features like Audi offers on a subscription basis, paying for things already installed in the car on a subscription basis to make them work is just a money grab and I will not buy any vehicle where I have to pay to make installed features work. I feel the same way about Ford's Blue Cruise. To me, this practice is like the manufacturers acting just like the dealers with their market adjustments. I refused to play that game too.

I really don’t understand why people have so many problems with Hyundai/Kia cars - there are a few people in my direct and extended family who own their cars and that don’t have any problems. My sister has a Kia Sorento which now has done over 120,000 miles and still runs perfectly. It’s also worth noting that the fact these Korean cars are cheaper doesn’t mean they are poorly built. The Hyundai motor group is one of the few companies that make their own car seats - also they are the only major car company I know who actually makes all their own steel for their cars. These two factors amongst others are one of the reasons they can be so competitive on cost…….its not necessarily because they cut quality.

Can you compare the American counterparts? Since the rav4 and tucson will be 10% more expensive next year becaues of tarrifs
@andrewg.spurgeon173610 күн бұрын
No they won't. Neither is built in China. The Rav4 Hybrid and Hyundai are both assembled in the USA. A few Rav4's are built in Japan and some are built in Canada..........and many models of the Hyundai are built in Montgomery, Alabama. The hybrid model is built in South Korea, but NEITHER is or will be subject to tariffs. Get your facts straight before you ask ignorant questions. If you have paid attention to who is (or will be) subject to tariffs it's US companies who shut down American factories, lay off American employees, build foreign factories and then import their products from overseas or from Mexico (like Carrier, for example) or primarily Chinese companies that cheat, steal intellectual property or are subsidized by the Chinese government to undermine our markets. Just because something is imported doesn't automatically subject it to tariffs. 2 cars you may see affected by tariffs are the Buick Envision and the new Lincoln Nautilus, both of which are assembled in China and imported to the US. Hyundai/Kia and Toyota are not in danger of being hit with tariffs and both have a huge manufacturing presence here in the States and provide thousands of American jobs. Historically the threat of imposing tariffs has been enough to change the behavior of any given company/country.
@broodp410 күн бұрын
@ tariffs are going to be implemented on all foreign imports not just imports from China. A majority of the parts for these cars are imported, and the manufacturers are going to pass these costs down to the consumer. The solution is to of course manufacture more of the parts in America but that is not something that is viable near term.
@andrewg.spurgeon173610 күн бұрын
@@broodp4 Really? What's your source for that? Not speculation, BS or political rhetoric, but verified tax policy with implementation procedures, passed legislation, etc. NEITHER candidate for president ran on a platform of imposing tariffs on every imported foreign car, there is no proposed policy to do so, nor is there any pending legislation or regulation proposing such taxation either. Any car assembled in the US, despite manufacturer ownership, is considered US built and NOT subject to tariffs of any kind, This is also NOT subject to change. It's settled tax law. So cite your source, cite the regulation or cite the proposed legislation as proof of your position.

@@andrewg.spurgeon1736 the president elect has promised a 10% tariff on all imported goods and higher tariffs of Chinese cars specifically. Whether trump goes through with his tariffs is another issue but you can literally google how proposed tariffs will affect Toyota for example

@@broodp4 The President Elect has NOT proposed an across the board tariff on all imported goods, rather he has threatened a 10% or higher tariff on imported goods from countries who who do not trade fairly and impose tariffs on our goods in their marketplaces to protect their markets giving an unequal trade footing. It is NOT an across the board proposal. It is a targeted proposal to bring trade equity to our markets. In other words it's a threat and a bug stick to renegotiate trade agreements that are unfair to us and our markets. Since I am a manufacturer in the import/export business I follow this very closely since my livelihood depends on it. Nuance is everything. You also have 4 years of him in office before to see what he DID and those tariffs are all still in place and have NOT been repealed by the current administration. Future tariffs will affect China and other countries who refuse to compete on a level playing field. NOBODY has proposed or promised across the board tariffs on anything. PERIOD.

If money, reliability, and resale value matter less to you then I can bet you aren’t buying a Toyota or a Hyundai. Not even sure how you could make a statement like that in a serious comparison.

Even though Hyundai is new and very good it still cant match the Toyota reliability and the overall package and where the Tucson shines is still not a overkill.The new RAV4 with the new Toyota beautiful design will keep the mighty one on the first place.Toyota is going crazy and if the prices or the inflation will drop in the next 2 years I believe it will be very good for the Koreans and outstanding for Toyota,Honda and Mazda.

We decided to go for a Rav4 PHEV. But it was a really close race between the Tucson and Rav4.
