@s.patterson56989 ай бұрын
Absolutely...it really is a breeze to use. What folks don't realize is that when you have a touchscreen like I do on my other vehicle, your eyes become focused on where your finger is touching on the screen, so you tend to loose visual of the road for however brief that moment is. However, with the touchpad, as you lean back and work it, the screen is in your visual field, so you are seeing both the road as well as the screen. So you aren't loosing visual connection with the road. A year in and we have zero complaints with our 2023MDX. Acura, if they were smart should have made it dual function because they are losing a lot of buyers who have been led to believe that touchscreen equals a superior driving experience. Hence they won't even give it fair effort.

The trackpad and no touch screen are the reasons I removed MDX from the list of vehicles to consider. People might get use to it but i don't think this is most intuitive way of interacting with the car. Mazda had no touch screen while driving which they fixed and now allow to use of touch screen in apple car play and android auto. Acura will be a great car once they fix their infotainment system. They SERIOUSLY need to fix it.

I am not always using my touch screen but there have been times that touch screen is very handy to use. If a touchpad is the best way to use it, then the question is why Honda uses a touchscreen and the majority of the car companies use a touch screen and not a touchpad.

Great review! This looks amazing, but we have one of the rare 2020 MDX performance hybrids, so we're not letting go of it anytime soon! The gas mileage on the regular models is awful, and I liked that the hybrid has 320 HP combined and was far more responsive and quicker than regular (not Type S) versions. The hybrid doesn't get amazing gas mileage, but it's a big improvement. My gripes are the push button shifter (so dumb, but you get used to it), the hood flexes a bit when you're on the highway, and there's a little lag in the dual-clutch transmission at low speeds, especially in reverse. It's fine at higher speeds, but it's a little weird.

I traded in my 23 x7 m60i for an MDX Type S. One of the best vehicle decisions I made. The ergonomics are so much better, easier, and safer in the MDX. A lot of car reviewers are criticizing the push button shifter; I agree that it takes up more space than other solutions, but the toggle shifter in my previous BMW was frustrating and dangerous as it was easy to over or under toggle ending up in the wrong gear. The push button shifter fixes that issue by having a dedicated key for each specific gear.

The front end of the MDX just looks so good. Possibly the best looking front-end of any mid-size SUV. The rear needs some work. Touchscreens are horrible for cars. They force you to take your eyes off the road.
@s.patterson56989 ай бұрын
Precisely...folks just don't get it that touchscreen takes your eyes off the road and that fraction of a moment could be the difference between avoiding an accident. People just assume touchscreen is a better product because they are conflating using a touchscreen tablet with using a touchscreen while driving. It is two different experiences. Leaning back and using the touchpad allows the screen to be within my visual field of my surroundings. So I am not taking my eyes off the road to see where I am placing my finger on the touchscreen. My other vehicle is a touchscreen and I can tell you that the driving experience is far better when I am in the MDX. I can't fathom how folks don't see or comprehend the difference. Guys, the 2018-2020 Sport Hybrid transformed into this redesign would have been a GRAND SLAM!! No Brainer. I have a 22 MDX Advance, and yearning for a Type S .....Maybe - this August at my lease expiration. But with a $38,500 Buyout price (in US dollars {NY}), this August, with only 17K miles on the clock now, probably 21K by August, that makes for a great appeal. Maybe I could make a deal, buy mine at that price, and Flip It for considerably more providing a good piece of change for a new Type S deposit. Higher Loan Interest rates are a killer tho! FWIW, If Acura had continued the Sport Hybrid into this redesign and availbale in August 2021 when I leased mine, for another $1800 for a 3.0L Turbo, with more HP & Torque and better MPGs (by about 15-20%) across the board, That would have been a total No -Brainer. There is no comparison with the Mazda SUV, SH-AWD lays down the power in conjunction with the transmission + engine. This, providing unique ability to make the MDX feels nimble, smaller and faster. However, the fast part is all up in the air, since its a big heavy SUV and the at the Type S taps out at 355HP. Basic X5 has 335HP but we all know BMW engineers always leave a bit of HP hidden just for the fun. Most people don’t realize that the standard MDX versus the Type S, is only about 1 sec quicker. While the moniker type S does not solidify performance, there is reliability that comes behind the engineering of the MdX. We all know BMW X5 are expensive to fix. Piano black is so pre- covid, not classic at all.

It's a great looking car. But I will never buy another 20mpg vehicle. In 2024, this is just absurd.

Any info on the 2025 updates?
@andreaspencer98139 ай бұрын
We've seen some heavily camouflaged ones online. Looks like some tweaks to the exterior including the front fascia, bumper and maybe the headlights. It's hard to tell. Nothing of course on the interior but it's not a whole new redesign just a facelift.

The touchpad is supposed to be replaced by a touch screen and the ELS audio system replaced with one by B&O

The US has confirmed that the trackpad is gone for the 2025 model year. Acura will also add the Bang & Olufsen stereo system.

Top trim of gv80 3.5tt would comp to type S. The Audi and bmw comps are way more expensive.

Hi youtuber. Data shows the #1 vehicle the mdx is compared with is the Honda Pilot. Germans car buyers ain’t looking this way for the most part. Now the Lexus TX trumps this is most ways. That said it’s a great vehicle. But the price is too high and why they are sitting at dealer lots.
@mervinprone9 ай бұрын
Lexus could very easily do this with the RX, just shoehorn the supras (ie BMWs) inline 6, call it the RX-F. You know they’d sell.
@MSZsama9 ай бұрын
It isn't possible, RX is based on a FWD platform. Can't fit an inline 6 there.

Acura has consistently over delivered with their MDX, ever since the first generation. Too expensive (for me) and perhaps (personally) a little too over styled for my tastes. Although a great vehicle, I would literally purchase ANY of the other comparable offered… price wise, style and badge. Thanks for the video.

No full size spare included? Acura missed the mark on that one.

How often are you needing a spare geez 😂
@weirdshibainu9 ай бұрын
@@ashleylitebrite6971 True. But Acura shouldn't get singled out either..
@ashleylitebrite69719 ай бұрын
for that price a spare should be mounted under rear cargo area. Js@@isimonsez

Looks like a great buy and alternative to other 6-7seaters with alot of performance/umph!!. I just picked up my 2nd Acura this week :) 2024 Acura RDX Aspec. Trackpad isn't as horrific as some make it. How often do people change stuff on their infotainment? Also voice command works too with my Android.

This or the Mazda CX-90?

You can't go wrong with either....just a matter of which appeals to you. For me it was the MDX...I liked the more angular clean lines of the MDX. But both are good looking vehicles.

I think accura should let Andrea keep that car it matches her jacket
