Motorola Moto G7 Plus | 72 Hours Review

After using Motorola's Moto G7 Plus as my full-time phone for 3 days, I'm definitely liking it. The dual-lens camera is feature packed, while the performance and battery life are solid too - and here's my three day review, to explain what I like and what I'm not a fan of.
Of course, at a UK price of £270, the Moto G7 Plus has strong competition from the likes of the Honor Play and Nokia 7.1. Still, the stock Android Pie UI, with Motorola's bonus features thrown on top, are definitely enjoyable. I miss the navigation gestures, but you get plenty of other great stuff - including new AI camera features and the impressively fast Turbo Charge battery tech.

moto g 5 plus with a custom rom is still going strong for me. almost 2 years old. i really wish moto had made smaller phones, 5.8" screen.. :( moto g5 plus was the perfect phone. highly durable, amazing battery. (still get over 24 hours stand by with over 5 hours SOT.)

My boy threw my g5 plus out of the window of the 3rd floor! Only thing broke is the fingerprint sensor. The phone is still working. Was going to update to g6 plus, but now will wait for 7 plus likely.

First reviewer that's actually positive about the phone. I have a G6+ and is probably going to upgrade to a G7+ because it has the smallest notch compared to the other competitors. To me having a big notch will destroy everything. To me having notches is worse than having a lower Screen-To-Body ratio.

At 3:01 you mention that notifications can appear with only your hand moving near to the back camera. Question: can you turn off that "auto-waking" feature? I mean sometimes I just want my phone to stay on standby and not partially wake up when I get close to it or pick it up to move it. Anyways, just some feedback from a Moto G6 user. The 7 plus looks really great, and I will agree the camera is awesome.

Does the G7 Plus have Camera2api enabled? If not, can it be enabled if the phone is rooted?

It is enabled and Google Cam Mod with nightsight Mode works perfect. You dont need Root,you only have to install it.

What I would like to know, that never gets mentioned, is how dim can the display go? I used to use my old Moto X Play in bed with the lights out relatively comfortably. I replaced it with a Sony Xperia X Compact which, with the display brightness on minimum, will burn my retinas if I so much as glance at it with the lights out! Sunlight legibility is not the "be all and end all".

Hi there at present I have a Moto G5 plus Which I use because of the dual SIM capabilities. I use my work EE sim and private Vodafone SIM. I'm thinking of upgrading to the OnePlus 6T because it's available on contract and is dual SIM. Would you recommend a OnePlus 6T and if I got it on Vodafone or O2 would my work EE sim work in the second SIM slot? Thanks Martin

I am on my second Motorola Moto G7 Plus cell phone. Both phones have developed problems due to battery swelling that cause the screen to warp after one year usage. Despite having a great camera and dual sim, I cannot recommend this phone. In fact, my next phone will definitely NOT be a Motorola!

I can't agree with you with battery life. When you used the phone did you use all your social media accounts? Are you pulling emails down with auto refresh? Do you have widgets set up on your home screen? Did you pop in your main sim? How much did you call and text throughout the day?

It’s basically a 2k display very good hardware for the price of a used iPhone 7 Plus or 8 the lacking point is camera that’s all but I would recommend download pixels camera software I’d be perfect, perfect purest android experience apart from the pixel can’t go wrong

I have a G5 plus. I have had problems with it in trying to connect it to the hands free system in the car (Honda CRV and now BMW X3). Pairs via Bluetooth fine but cannot download the contact list. Still trying to get a resolution from Motorola but would certainly put me off buying another Moto phone unless they can sort it out.

I bought the G5 Plus a few years ago because I didn’t want to Note 8 or 9 and waiting for the Note 10 Release. Not once was I sad that I down graded from the NOTE family. Not Once. This Phone is still as fast as day one and battery is still 85% when I get home from work. I admit I am not a power user for Gaming or talking on the phone for hours but I pull my phone out often and use fitness apps and KZbin a lot. I may just her go Mack to a $1000 phone and stay mid way with One Plus or Moto G series. Not like the phones keep their value.

A couple of things I wish motorola would inherit are tap on tap off and wish they'd bring back the front facing stereo speakers set up,, instead of the bottom firing speaker that gets covered by your palm. Oh to bring back the moto x pure, new and improved. And with a 6.2 screen, it needs at least a 3500 battery. It's sad they've down graded the processor but I guess at least they gave some upgrades. @@cristiannieva1622 Sure they did. My moto x pure had an 808 in it and now all the units have low 600 series processors. They didn't even opt for the higher end processors even in the g7 plus, which is supposed to be the flagship of the four g series. My biggest complaint is no x series upgrade. The 4x was a disappointment. To me and other X series lovers.

I have the Moto G5 Plus. I hate spending lots of money on phones... but this phone is no good (read: slow.as.hell). It all works fine at first but as soon as you start using that intern memory, this thing is broken. Now I'm saving up for a decent, reliable phone. Maybe a bit more money but no frustratrions over a phone with the reaction speed of a sloth. One word: frustrating. Hope for y'all this G7 model is better...

Nope. I've been using the g5 plus since launch and it has given me 0 problems so far. Haven't even noticed any lag. I don't play any games on my phone though, if that makes a difference

The Moto is not all bad but I can't say I'm happy with its performance. I have the Moto for 9 months now and I'm already looking for a replacement.
