Great video but i get nervous watching you use razorblades and other metal tools, especially when you used the metal tweezers to disconnect the display while the battery was still connected. I learned my lesson when i did that with an iPhone and burnt out the backlight. I always make sure to use plastic tools until the battery is disconnected.

You forgot to mention don't let the heat gun past 180 degrees Fahrenheit or it will melt the digitizer,tempature gun nessacry

It matters because the screen and digitizer or two separate parts you don't want to melt any internal components besides the digitizer as well

There are 2 different screens for Moto Z4, 1st XT1980-4 and 2nd XT1980-3. One has more curved edge and the second straight.

It's xt1980-1 and -2 have a more straight corners whereas xt1980-3 and -4 is the more rounded corners

@@gurmeens3405 hi, to identify your model number just look at the bottom of the z4's frame (or on the side of the charge port and headphone jack) and between the usb-c port and the headphone jack should be a model name and a type name as well, all you need is the Model name to identify what screen you need. If that doesn't work and the screen is working for the most part *and* you are signed into the phone you could also try this if the model number is scratched out: Settings > About Phone > Model & hardware, there you should find the Model Number (SKU). Was the phone a Verizon exclusive? (don't mind me asking)

@@robertdinero6383 Check gadgetfix.com or on eBay (same seller), Amazon just expensive and not always good quality. Use B-700 glue to install new display.

make sure you remove the screen above the ear piece cover...i made mistake of not doing that..thats if you buy the cheap knock off of ebay..ifixit has oem part

I had my busted screen repaired at a shop and they broke the plastic frame during repair. They say they can't find a replacement. Without that plastic frame the screen is able to flex and causing vertical pink/green lines on the screen. Any ideas on where I could find that replacement frame?

Between the screen and the phone there's some type of liner or frame that in my case also was lifted with the heat .

Before he hooked the screen up. It was just a way to unplug the battery, like when you unplug your tv or computer and plug it back in to reset it.
