The oled screen doesn't fit in the normal switch housing, so if the conector is the same, and the board layout of the switch oled is the same it might be possible by changing all the housing for the oled housing, it would be cool, if the motherboard was exactly the same, i personally preffer lcds couse are more durable, a oled screen will last maybe 6-7 years, a lot of vita screens are dying nowadays due to being oled, i use consoles forever, i mean i'm still playing gameboy games in my gba sp, so i preffer durability rather than a bit better darks, if you don't compare them is not even notizable

So I screwed up pretty bad. I have a first run Nintendo Switch that has seen some wear and tear. A couple months ago it started overheating in dock mode and the shell started falling apart. I ended up getting a new Switch for myself and my niece was thinking about buying one herself. I told her about the “damaged” one I had and she asked if she could just have it. I obliged but little to her knowledge I ordered some replacement parts from China including a new more powerful fan (according to the listing), new screws, and front and back Shells. After a few months I finally got the parts and I swapped everything out, everything looks and sounds great until the moment it comes to turn on the console and test it. There is no display on the LCD screen, the backlight turns on, the digitizer works, and the console Switches to TV mode when placed in the dock but there just seems to be a problem with displaying an image when in handheld mode. I think maybe I damaged the LCD with my heat gun during the tear down process or maybe one of the ribbons got damaged so I ordered another LCD screen to replace the current one. I just finished replacing it (carefully) but I’m still having the same problem. Any info you could provide on what could possibly be the issue and how I can get this fixed for my niece I would greatly appreciate it. She is a good kid and deserves a new console herself if I could actually find one but I want her to at least have a fully functional console. Thanks in advance -DadPlayingGames

I found that using the iOpener kit with the suction cup made taking the screen off easy. Just place the suction cup on the opposite side of where the ribbon cable is and pull. Of course you have to be careful to not pull to hard for the sake of the ribbon cable. Make sure to warm the screen to loosen the adhesive, makes the job go smoother.

This helped a lot! Needed to replace a digitizer that had been severely clawed up by getting lodged down the side of a recliner. Removal was a breeze and everything seemed tip top shape! However, the digitizer has a GIGANTIC deadzone that takes up all but the outer edges of the screen. Bad digitizer? Bad board component? The ribbon cable and where it plugs into looks completely undamaged.

@@Tronicsfix : Physical games and headphones work fine, but it still very well could be. I've yet to return it to my friend, but none of the games on this switch rely too much on the touch controls. im not an expert on this topic but why does the plastic panel have a ribbon cabel? is this for the touch input or what purpose does it serve? my other question would be: shouldnt one be able to manufacture a glass panel with that ribbon cabel on it? then one could swap the plastic screen for a glass one to reduce scratches.
@Tronicsfix7 жыл бұрын
The top plastic panel? That's called a digitizer and yes it's for touch input. I'm sure one would be able to manufacture one made of glass if one had a manufacturing facility. The tradeoff is that it would break way easier. Since this is a handheld I'm guessing Nintendo would rather make a console that is less likely to break.

I'm having an issue with my Switch where the middle of the digitizer is bulging out (most noticeable on the bottom middle, but is still visible on the top), unlike how people say their right side is. I was wondering if there was any possible fix to that, or if I have to send it to Nintendo for repairs. I've tried pushing it down but it doesn't work and has only gotten worse over time. I do have an amFilm glass screen protector on it. Don't know if that affects anything or not. My theory is that the heat from the dock melted the adhesive holding the two pieces together. If I want to do a front shell swap, would it be enough to remove the digitizer and screen, then undo the screws under the digitizer and remove all the insides in one piece? The official guide video goes through and disconnects all the parts one by one, then removes the front shell from the inner frame (the part with the hole that the lcd ribbon goes through). If the motherboard and other modules are connected to that inner frame, rather than the front shell, then it seems like it would be a lot faster and easier, as long as there's not something I don't know that would prevent that.

what if I wanted to replace the front shell surrounding the screen? not the back. My switch fell out of my bag one time, even though the screen didn't get damaged, the front actually did and it kinda drives me nuts. is that tougher?

Taran Abel I'm in the same situation. Why is the rear shell the only piece easily replaceable...?

The Front and the digitizer is together and you can replace it! Just buy a digitizer and follow the instruktiions in the Vid :D

Maximilian Schäffler where can I get a digitizer?
@Kekke4664 жыл бұрын
What to do when you replaced the digitizer and the touch screen does not respond in the middle of the screen? More people have this problem after replacing the digitizer or game card slot!! I have gone through 5 digitizers, only to find out that it has to do with the game card slot.... This is the most frustrating repair I have ever been through. The digitizer and game card slot seem tied from the factory, it seems to me that it is useless buying aftermarket digitizers or game card slots as this is a lottery of getting compatible parts. The question for me that remains is: HOW do you get a compatible digitizer and game card slot that actually fully work???

Is it possible to change the front shell of the switch?

Yes. On Amazon they sell the front and back shell.

@@TrickArrow but u need to know that front shell have all on it, all components. ALL. Nintendo replace me the product before change ir (for an imperfection caused previously by changing the lcd). And the new one... have another dead pixel again... this is a nightmare. Srry about my english, im not native :P
@TrickArrow6 жыл бұрын
@@cukojingames Your english is fine. And There are some cases where Nintendo will turn down repairs. Incase they do, anyone can buy the parts needed online. I repaired one recently that a Child DESTROYED. Nintendo was unwilling to repair it for me, so I had to do it myself.

@@TrickArrow ¿the plastic of the front case is alwais damaged when the digitizer is removed? or do you think it was bad luck the first time they do it? They also sank the loudspeaker grille, I imagine also when leveraging the area. They sent it to me, I saw the damage caused and sent it back to them. This time as it had to be disassembled all to change the front casing and the grid, they replaced the switch directly. But it has a dead pixel like the first one I sent and "repaired." So I do not what to do. Send it and risk, or not
@TrickArrow6 жыл бұрын
@@cukojingames If you are able to send it to them, then yes, do so. And the digitizer is not always damaged when the front case is removed. If you are careful the digitizer will be fine. As for the grill, I'm not too sure what happened there. Bit it is replaceable.

Can you make one video for the Switch Lite screen replacement?
@SrSamuerto6 жыл бұрын
You don't have to unplug the LCD from the Switch if you are only replacing the plastic screen. I ended with some dust because I took it apart. Also, the screen I got was a white rare one, and it got a lot of straight scratches, made on the production line, so yeah, check these before putting them on, now I have to order another and repeat this.

Yep, true. It's hard to find them without some scratches...even new.

You would have to buy an all new lcd and digitizer for the new face plate if you didn’t want to take apart the screen from the old face plate to transfer it over.

I got a video request if possible. The game just dance 2018/2019 uses the HD rumble and a feature called beat vibrations on the main songs. My question is for just dance 2018. I know it probably just goes up and down for each drum tap. I wanna see how drum rolls work for it. Do multiple of the metal things go up and down? You can actually feel the drum roll in boom boom and in the song new face. It's very cool on what they did with the switches hardware. And another thing I wanna see how it works is the Double Rumble feature on just dance 2018 example you can feel the small guitar when playing. It actually feels like the strings are really going like you're really playing it. How do the vibrations do stuff like this. If you don't have just dance 2018 I suggest you check it out. The beat vibrations are the best. Especially for the 2019 one. But I would love to see how the 2018 one works in action. If possible. Thanks.
