What a sad story for such an inspirational man. He had all the right ideas, but couldn't fight the press of the big 3 it seems. Such a shame; Rossion is an awesome company though, so we'll see where this goes!

Think of the Wiegert Vector Aeromotive Corporation, founded in '71, having a W2 prototype in '73 that beat all other (super) cars into pulp through sheer power... @@marquis_ugly23 Modern cars are, save for a few models like Lambo Veneno or Cybertruck, mere copies of copies of copied copies that were copied from a copy. This is the story of when an entrepreneur has the skill, the expertise, and everything needed to make a truly great car, except for a public image. Just lacking that image alone was what caused the cars to fail to sell. Warren made an amazing car and then another after that, but racing organizations kept banning them and the public refused to give them a chance. Despite this, he still made the MT900, a car that beat out almost anything else on the road.

If the oil and major car conglomerate's weren't so corrupt and greedy on top of having way to much pull behind the scenes this car could have sold better than any other car. Ppl just blindly listen to the media and allow them to form their opinions instead of doing their due diligence and forming their own opinion to the detriment of themselves. That's why car companies can still sell cars that get the same gas mileage they did almost 100 years ago.

I know a guy that bought an MT900, I even took pics of it in my photo studio a few years back. The car is very impressive especially in person. I didn't know anything about Warren Mosler prior to seeing that MT900. He is a remarkable guy and obviously brilliant but he just couldn't realize the fact that appearance is highly important! Had his original car been at least reasonable to look at, his legacy would have been completely different. But, that's the way it goes. You can't force people to accept something, you have to understand what the market wants and deliver it.

The MT900R was not able to earn points in the 2005 FIA GT Championship because the car wasn't homologated. It was later rejected for the 2006 season when competing with the MT900 GT3 for the same reason. He made it sound like it was banned because it was too fast, but that simply wasn't the case. I've always admired these cars.

This individual pursued his dream of making his type of vehicle to the very end. Unfortunately, his dream wasn't realized by others in the way he would have liked. This is a MAN who can reflect upon his life with pride! More often than not, people live in fear of the uncertain of what could or couldn't happen if they were to take a chance and fight for their dreams. I don't "favorite" or even "like" many videos on KZbin, but I had to this time; this one resonated within me. Truly inspiring!

Although amazingly successful sports cars what i find more intriguing would have been if composite cars like his van idea took off, think about it like say a honda civic type R all same running gear but a composite body like his van, even more performance and better mpg. sports cars getting 30 - 40mpg, hot hatches 40-50mpg and even "economy" cars would be faster than the likes of today's or more economical. Frustrating that genius like this has been confined to the likes of racing cars and high end supercars.

In late 1990 I had the distinct pleasure of driving both the street and racecar versions of the Consulier. Just a friendly reminder that horsepower doesn't mean anything without the right transmission. Tall gearing usually means fuel economy and top speed while light weight is cornering and braking. Mosler took a thin, flexible composite body and filled it with foam to give it strength but OEMs don't want consumers to be able to make their own cars, so the existing supply chain won the day although Chrysler had already been manufacturing unit bodies with subframes for the infamous 69-70 Charger
@luislongoria6621
@luislongoria6621 Жыл бұрын
Going back to Warren quoting Carroll Shelby, Shelby made aluminum bodies so thin, you couldn't lean on the car without leaving a dent, so while light weight makes sense on paper, it just doesn't work for the general public
@luislongoria6621
@luislongoria6621 Жыл бұрын
Fast forward 20 years later, OEMs are using energy absorbing foam structures behind plastic bumpers and the only piece of metal that resembles a bumper is the radiator support. But as for making the entire body out of a structural foam sandwich? The Consulier GTP sounds more like a boat

I was lucky enough to sit in one of these at the LA Auto Show one year and was pretty impressed. They also were genuinely nice over there in their little display and had none of the snobby attitude of the Ferrari section (back when they actually bothered to show up). You'll recognize the gear lever in a lot of MT900 cars from the 996 era Porsche 911.
