It was more of a rhetorical question but yes, it "frees up a lot of space in the centre console" although the cost of repair is far greater than replacing a cable as I'm sure VW Passat owners would testify!

to your question..do we really need an electronic handbrake; you don't need one, but it frees up a lot of space in the centre-console, which the 508 utilises pretty well.

I appreciate this review was a long time ago now, but how did you rate the ride quality of the GT suspension? I've read a lot of complaints that it's too firm.

Terrible job reviewing this car, got alot of different facts and figures wrong!! Check the CO2 Emissions of the SW ITS 154 Not 150, the electronic handbrake is automatic so its very rare you will use the switch on the dash, and just because VW s electric handbrake is a failure doesnt mean all other manuafactures will get it wrong!!Who brings washing machines in the back of their cars every day SERIOUSLY,why didnt you try golf clubs, buggies,suit cases etc etc, Guys one of the wrost reviews EVER
