Hi Simon. Whats Your view on quick action throttle and quick shifter. Is it worth of investment for someone being around the bottom of the fast group? Or do I better spend money on tyres, pads and track time?Thanks a lot for the invaluable information you share. I learned a lot.

Both your mods sound like a good idea to Simon. 'The quick action throttle will be more responsive so takes a more experienced rider to use it well without getting in trouble (especially on a big capacity machine), but bottom of fast group sounds like you're ready for it! Quick shifters make the job easier for all levels of riders'

Hi Simon, thanks for this video. My 13 year old son is about to enter the biggest race of his career with some of the best kids in the country with Ohvale at a Motoamerica race. My son's never been in a race of this size before with this kind of competition. Do you have any advice for a rookie entering his first big race? The bike is an Ohvale 160cc.

Simon, I seen a video where you said changing rear sprocket size can push rear tire into ground (more grip) & also less grip.... which changes give more grip & which causes less grip??

Great videos. Question. How do i quickly disconnect the abs on gsxr1000r just for the track and connect it back for street. They say that there is a fuse. If it's the fuse do I still have my traction control while the abs is off?

At my small level I didn't notice any grip issue with worn tires, but I'd like to know why it does lose grip? I don't see physical reasons for that. Maybe something related to rubber over heating? A guy did some testing on a road car, and worn tires actually have more grip. But maybe on a track bike there are other factors, I just wonder what they are

I m no expert, but i belive it is the difference between the construction and type of rubber used on track specific tyres (all about grip for a few hundred miles) and road tyres ( they are supposed to last for thousands of miles).

Another explanation can be that as road tyres wear out, their surface in contact with the road increases thereby increasing coeff of friction. Slicks used in racing have same contact area even as the wear out due lack of grooves. Yeah i know going by this the grip on the slicks should be constant not decreasing, but this is the best i can think of.

He means in a professional endurance race , race tire's start out with exceptional grip and if you have some desent skills they will start to wear before your race ends. This is him speaking on how to get through your race on new "race" tire's.

Few reasons but if you think of a new tyre it has maximum rubber and behaves in a certain way as such. As you wear the tyre you lose rubber the tyre gets thinner characteristics cornering/stopping change

Dragging your knee should not be a goal; it is the natural consequence of doing other things right (body position, lines, brake markers) and carrying speed through the corner. (Sorry. I know you were asking Simon, but I can't help myself.) You will overcome the fear and reach a level of comfort by having good body position, taking the right line, throttle control, etc., and realizing how STABLE the bike can be even at speed.
