as someone with asthma I want to correct you n one thing Danny: asthmatic attacks can ABSOLUTELY make you vomit or bring up a whole lot of spit and bile if they're violent enough which is something that's happened to me a fair few times growing up. So that part was actually realistic given that Ciel's body isn't used to being in this sort of environment at all. Also asthma can kill you! So it's a little more than just "makes it hard to breathe" lol

It is accurate on the asthma bit, though when someone has a hard time breathing because of asthma, they vomit mucus that's usually because of them getting sick with the cold...so no, it's spot on. It only happens when the person has no inhaler or something to help them breathe.

@@Lanoira13 ofc! OvOb asthma weirdly isn’t something taken seriously because mostly ppl think of it as a condition where it makes your lungs to weak that you cough in a dusty room. Really it’s just a condition where your respiratory system is extremely sensitive to outside stimuli and at best you’ll have a little mucus buildup that causes wheezing and at worst your airways will constrict and breathing becomes impossible Ciel was under a lot of physical and mental stress so his lungs most likely was having a lot of buildup in his lungs, hence the heavy breathing. The cold also irritated his lungs and his body literally buckled under him causing his fever an vomiting which then made his lungs have an even harder time taking in air than he already was So in sort, he’s REALLY lucky there’s a doctor on standby at this circus

I straight up thought my throat getting crazy irritated and making me cough when I drank/ate/breathed coldness was like a personal quirk. lmao Now that's something I've wanted to compare notes with someone on. For me my throat closing or getting irritated isn't USUALLY the issue unless it's direct irritation like cold or an allergen like dust or grass, but often I feel like I can take full breaths but my lungs aren't taking the oxygen., namely with steam/heat or exertion triggered attacks. You ever get that sorta distinction??

Too hot and it feels like trying to breathe through 10 layers of thick blankets, but air that’s too cold makes it feel like razors are in my throat and lungs with every breath I breathe. Humidity also makes breathing harder because it loosens up mucus in the lungs and blocks airways. I’d also double check with an allergist because some people can actually have asthma like symptoms because they’re allergic to grass, dust, ect The distinction between allergies and asthma though would be that rashes don’t occur with asthma related problems BUT the two do unfortunately go hand in hand, especially if you’re someone like me who was born with a week immune system

@@missthangd4311 Saying he "helps" Ciel is being nice. I love Sebby but he's way more of a threat to Ciel than say the current antagonist. Sebastian, to me, is the epitome of the saying "a wolf in sheep's clothing." Any nice, helpful thing Sebby does is just his facade (an enemy disguised as an ally so to speak). BB has a literal dog motif that constantly compares their contract to a leash. Meaning the only thing keeping Sebastian from pouncing and devouring is that contract. Sebastian enjoys watching people suffer. Sebastian is an evil to be evil villain (mostly because he's a demon) in my eyes who is incredible at acting. But this is why I would love for video essays on BB and Sebastian because I would love to see what other people think! To me Sebastian is the main villain because he is the true reason why Ciel can't have nice things and can't have happiness. And he will be Ciel's demise if everything goes right. Yana somehow made the main villain into one of the protagonists and made it work (I find that pretty impressive). But like that's just one interpretation. It's a discussion that I wish I could watch here on KZbin! 😭

10:13. I’m *not* an expert on asthma (even though I have it) but my brother has severe asthma which he was born with (which I’m 90% sure Ciel has the same kind he does). You definitely can throw up during or after an asthma attack. When you get the urge in the middle of an asthma attack, it’s worse not to throw up because the liquid can get in your lungs. Also, I always assumed that what Ciel threw up was partially phlegm. Also, this isn’t part of this particular explanation but I love that they added the sounds from Ciel’s breathing/throat. They’re quite similar to what I experience during an asthma attack so it’s kinda nice that they had that detail instead of heavy breathing which a lot of asthma attacks in movies have.

At 10:13 uhh as an asthmatic, when asthma attacks are bad enough they can ABSOLUTELY cause you to vomit and hack up mucus. Especially when the body is already stressed (like Ciel being out in the cold rummaging around in tents all night) and especially if he hasn't had one in that long and his body isn't used to being put through an asthma attack. So it's very accurate and actually a nice touch to show just how bad an asthma attack can be.

Danny you can vomit during a sever enough asthma attack, usually it's because at that point you've caught something else, since an attack like the one Ciel has, has most likely caused him to also develop pheunomnia on top since he was under a lot of stress and was exposed to the elements for too long after being soaked through with ice cold water. He probably either got pheunomnia or caught the flu which hit harder because of his pre-existing asthma. I should know because I've had the same thing happen to me twice.

Yes, you should be questioning what's happening in that scene. Honestly a good rule of thumb with Black Butler is to pay attention to everything, and question everything. I'm glad you jumped to the canon episodes, the original anime really didn't do Black Butler justice.

Funny how an anime can become so good when it just follow the manga... As for vomiting because of coughing, yeah, you can really do that. I was sick the other week and when it won't stop, you only have one choice left. As for Ciel's love interest...well, we still have Lizie around ^^ And yeah, the "we" and "us" is a major important details. Another big one is coming. I'm still...baffled to think I never picked up on the real meaning of that scene. I knew it was weird but I never pieced it together. And I love it, that's a great revelation !

13:38 there’s this theory called the Ciel Twin Theory, which is that this Ciel is not named Ciel, but rather his twin was, and they were both at the auction thing and the real Ciel was killed/sacrificed (or whatever), and fake Ciel took the real Ciel’s name. This theory was proven in the manga.

I remember how I rly liked the seduction Scene with Sebastian It undermined the actual base of Sebastian being a demon. Him not having actual sympathy for her, but using the vurnable state and being totally manupalative. It kind of reminds the viewer that he in fact is not this good at everything character, but the actual devil. If I remember correctly the women even called his sweet talk "Wispers of The Devil" And it rly did a lot for his character to get a glimps of his rotten intensions
