It's the patch... It's got something in it like "fixes the AI aiming against mounted enemies". So yeah this strategy doesn't work at all anymore.

You can also do this with a army. You just tell them to retreat at the start.

the fastest way to level up is to collect a party and do escort caravan missions. once you are clan level 1, be a mercenary, and continue them, you get a shit tonne of gold from your contract (killing 4 bands of bandits), gold from the mission contract, gold from selling their stuff, selling prisoners, and gold from doing any tournaments in the towns, gold from selling the prizes, and gold from any board games if you bet. It is by far the best way to play this game early on (the mission also scales in difficulty for mid game playability. what hes doing will put you into a gameplay loop for hours while making very little progress

When you go into the tournaments make sure you're at full health. You will start the first battle at your current health. Found this out the hard way.

Thanks for the tips mate. Circle shooting is fun but it will get you killed on higher difficulties. Just run from one side to the other, line 'em up and shoot with better accuracy. Take in account the sun-rays distorting your vision and only fight during day time on the plains to avoid bumping into trees. This is truly the easiest (and fun) way to start your campaign. Soon you can buy your first workshop for passive income and gather up a bunch of companions. Life is good!

To be honest, I was expecting some other kind of advice, beyond "take down 12 guys solo". I think the people who is able to take down 12 looters on their own, don't need leveling advice.

Also it helps only with the very first levels because it get's really grindy really fast Also putting every focus point into combat gimps your characters progression Damage wise better equipment is 10 times better than putting all in skills at around lvl 60 archery it starts to get really slow and you're making less money without some basic trade or plundering It's way faster to level as many skills as possible because the first 10 lvls are really fast except leadership or engineering obviously I don't like this new leveling system one bit it's always been hard but damn try leveling your scouting from 0 to 10, so far I only get xp from hideout discovery because I see no tracks and the hard to pass terrain mechanic seems to not work as intended or described at least

@@brohvakiindova4452 True. And also, because this is not a RPG, but a military simulation with RPG components, "increasing your level solo" might not be a good idea anyways. It might be a better idea to pick up 20 recruits, and let them get experience too, so you start to build a half-decent army for later on. I never tried Warband. I'm loving the game so far, but this is NOT a solo RPG. The focus shouldn't be, in my opinion, to be really good in personal combat. It should be to be really good in being an army leader. My first character was a battanian with like 4 focus point in Athletics, One Handed, and Throwing. Then I restarted the game with an imperial that has a much more varied kind of focuses. A little bit in medicine, trade, tactics, scouting, etc. Things your character use anyways regardless of your build. So I can gain more experience in those early on. I still beat the crap of looters, with the help of the army, and I even won a tournament, because most tournaments are melee group (at least early game) and you can just use your brain and support your teammates without being the second incarnation of Conan in melee combat.

@@gustavotriqui I started out with 0 crossbow because I thought it wouldn't be important but now there is no crossbow without at least 20 skill requirement so I'm stuck on using only bow or throwing plus I wanted to level crossbow a little to add on to my skillpoint count I think it's kind of stupid that becoming a jack of all trades is encouraged because otherwise leveling slows down insanely it makes deciding which skills to invest into with focus points really hard too because a skill which reaches it's limit slows your progression

@@gustavotriqui Soloing makes a lot of sense if you wish to level up very fast. Early on it´s easy to make tons of money alone, that is actually better done without an army costing you heaps, money is tight for a long time until you get the foundation for income in place. You also need to find certain lords/nobles and it´s far easier if you are at peace with everyone while doing that. The game still needs a lot of polishing and it´s far from realistic in any sense, then there are the noobs like me who just can´t hit crap with melee weapons. The second option early on is to get 20 troops but avoiding upgrading them, makes trade slightly faster as you don´t have to avoid bandits on the way. Towards the endgame it makes a lot of sense to save on costs early on.

Hi ESO .. thank you for this video, I think you should also explain the disadvantage of solo strategy. I think it is much worse than getting the party and completing quests early when there is time. I have tested both in warband and with party you get just slightly less money, xp and renown but in exchange you are getting good relations with people, that means more recruits whitch is much more important in the late game.

Forgot to say - thanks for video Danny! I'm not nearly as good of a shot as you are, so it's taking me longer. One tip - I found some cities have a lot of looters running around. If you just hang out at the city - sell your prisoners, sell loot, wait to heal then go out again you can rack up the kills without having to travel much. Be careful though as looter groups will band together if too close. :)

You can equip several quivers, also "Tournment arrows" are 30 per quiver and deal blunt damage increasing chances of taking prisoners. The bonus +3 arrows on horseback perk is broken however.

I am pretty new but was playing yesterday. I was doing looter kiting and I somehow also won a tournament! I couldn't believe it. I figured I would lose first round, but I got a decent helmet out of it. I'm on realistic because I like a challenge. I had to reload some few times on the looter fighting, but eventually got the hang of it.

actually a good way of farming money early on is the tournaments, save before hand, and always bet 300. Its an easy 800+ profits

Isn't it more beneficial to train up at least a few men? Maybe some cavalry or horse archers. If you have 4 or so at high tier that would be nice. What number do looters start running away from you? You can increase stewardship with high food variety without it costing an arm and a leg, preferably combine this with trading foodstuffs. Or does this increase slower with fewer men? Also does having lots of skills (healing, smithing, tactics, charm) slow down getting other skills, or does it just mean extra levels?

Also a good way to win is back them up against the walls so their swings hit the walls. Also the arenas that have trees work well cause you can get them to hit the trees while you hit them. Terrain plays a big part

For tournaments put the shield away and just strafe right. Dodging is better than blocking as you can counterattack faster.

Just a small tip for those who want to get as many prisoners as possible, shoot the arrows in non vital parts, especially shoulders as it still deals good damage and is easier to land. Headshots is guaranteed kills so no prisoners.

A good and SUPER EASY way to farm extra renown, troop xp and loot is to end the battle when the looters/bandits are in retreat. The survivors will appear on the map as a new group right next to you. You can quickly run them down and fight them again. I've been able to fight groups of 30+ looters 3 or 4 times before they were completely wiped out. This nets me approximately 3-5 renown instead of 1-2. THIS DOES NOT WORK ON FACTION PARTIES OR CARAVANS. Faction parties will completely disband when the leader is captured and caravans disband when defeated.

In previous MB I used to get a horse, spear or sword and shield and went hunting sea pirates. Top loot for start, lot to sell after, get some good units in pubs and some "heroes" and some recruits to lvl em up fast aw, and rinse repeat, also go for tournaments which favors horse combat [easiest to win] and bet max on ur head each time its a nice pouch of gold in the end.

When you leave the city let time pass and follow the caravan leaving the city it will have a blue "quest" symbol above it. Follow them talk to them. Che k your quest log for the amount of cities they will have to visit while you follow them to complete the quest. Most times they will be attacked by bandits about 20 to 30 and mostly on horses. I started out this game so confused because I’ve never played any of the previous titles or anything. So far all I have been doing is running between all the cities and doing tournaments to gear up completely 😅😂 I have won every piece of equipment and camels and all types of junk and selling the stuff you don’t need is usually on average 1k per item, so it’s been easy money lol but I still find myself wondering the countryside like a tournament hopping zombie Edit: the difficulty is increased if you have only basic items vs armored opponents, but there is no penalty for losing the tournaments so I highly recommend them to practice anyway

I'd play the tutorial fights and see if they are kicking your ass, or if the fight is easy or whatever and then tweak from there for what you want the difficulty for the game.
