You can buy a lens protector when you don't use the hard plastic case. Also, maybe the reason BKXC crashes so often is due to his gripping technique

Wow! I need one of these for my mountain biking trips. I've been using just my GoPro and chesty for years and they always come out somewhat shaky and make you sick sometimes when you watch them depending on how rough the trail was. I was impressed with how smooth it was over the rough sections of that trail. This would be a great addition to all of my videos. Thanks for the review I had looked these up on Amazon and saw the positive and negative reviews just like you did. Seeing this I may take a chance on it.

I REALLY like it how the gimbal adjusts the recording to be steady but captures the trembling of the hand grip due to the terrain yet not losing the downward terrain capture keeping the camera straight firmly... before creates a bit of headache...

the chesty mount with a go pro you need to invert it and you will be able to point it forwards. It's a common mistake to set the angle for when you're just normally sat on the bike. When you're downhilling you're more off the bike so it will face down. you need to have a dig day and get some berms and jumps in that trail :D
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
+Teaman1974 Ah, now that you mention that I have seen other videos where it was mounted upside down. With the gimbal on it cancels that out I suppose. Haha, oh man, I can only imagine how awesome that trail would be with berms.

Nice video, soooo much smoother with the wearable gimble. Much better on the chesty mount than the full size gimble. Will probably get one for mountain biking and skiiing. Thanks for the review (and the tip about getting it facing the right way!). I've gone through 2 of the old style riding gimbals (Zhiyun brand) because of issues with the wires at the battery part. I've been waiting for more options that wouldn't have the same issues. Zhiyun are doing a similar one to this but it doesn't look as tidy. A few more reviews to check and I'll be ready to press go - I can't stand non-gimbal riding vids anymore!
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Brutal about going through the gimbals! Yup, once I saw Nate Hills' videos and read in the comments his camera was on a gimbal it was a revelation. That was one of the pieces that inspired me to start this channel. The only hiccup I've had with it so far is having a brain fart and turning it on WITHOUT the GoPro in it. It needs the weight of the GoPro to balance itself and if it's not there it freaks out. The batteries last quite a long time. I usually go through 3 GoPro batteries on a ride @ 45 minutes each and the wearable gimbal batteries haven't died in that span.
@martindjong8 жыл бұрын
For my opinion, it's more fun to watch the footage of you biking with the normal mount, with the shake, it's trilling. And the gimbal work well, but it's kinda weird to see all the view is steady and just your bike shaking.. I think it fit perfectly for cinematic thing, not sport. :) But you do a great job!
@bkxc8 жыл бұрын
Interesting point! I think it can work in very short bursts. Most of my videos are more than 10 minutes long of riding and talking, and I think it would be impossible to watch for that long if it was shaky the whole time.

Have you mounted this on a head strap or helmet mount yet? I use the Z1 Rider 2 with the 18 inch control cable and hand held remote. It's a bit heavy for extended use with the head strap (forehead aching after 15-20 minutes) - but provides the same fluid cinematic end product as this model is shown with the chest mount.

Nice, but for a fair comparison you should have pointed the the gopro further up on the fixed mount/non-gimbal clip. When standing up you'll need to point the camera maybe 30deg up so that when you lay down and start riding you capture what's in front of you, not the bike (this angle depends on your riding position/terrain).

It's been very, very solid. You have to babysit the camera constantly and make sure you've got it pointed where you want (Down on steep downs, straight on trails, slightly up on steep climbs)/ if you want the right shot. I love the thing.

I've only been using it for two months, but in those two months I've done a LOT of riding and sweating and getting my money's worth out of this thing. So far zero problems as it seems to be built pretty damn well. Time will tell!
