If you get a live Christmas tree, make sure to keep it watered. They soak up a truly unreasonable and unexpected amount of water, and they need every drop of it, otherwise they dry up, turn brown, and turn into an ugly fire hazard. There's no way to know that it's getting sad about being low on water by looking at it -- by the time it's looking brown, it is too late! Water every day, maybe twice. And be prepared for every creature in the house to drink from the tree's water, and half of the creatures to try to climb it.

Maybe next year you could do a southern hemisphere Christmas soap (although I don't know how 'christmassy' that would look...). It bums me out so many people hate on “early Christmas” in shops. Many people can’t afford to buy all their Christmas decor or presents only in December and financially need to spread out their purchases. I personally really appreciate being able to buy fresh Christmas lights or start getting presents as early as possible to help our budget!

But if you financially can’t afford decorations in the few weeks before December or in the weeks leading up to Christmas, why buy them anyway? You don’t need decorations it’s just a time to celebrate with family.
@IISheireenII5 жыл бұрын
1. do you need decorations so much that you buy them even if you can't afford them?! 2. how about putting each month the money you would use for this aside, just what you would spend anyway, to use it all at once in december or late november i don't mind getting prepared for chistmas in november but I often see christmas decorations in september... how can it feel like a special time of the year if it is there for 3-4 month? same with all the easterbunnies popping up right after christmas

About the tree question : we do neither! Ist's kinda common in my area to buy a tree with roots. In the main time of the year it sits on the balcony or in the garden and is brought inside in December. Of course it's also decorated and stuff like a fresh cut but at the end of the year one doesn't have to throw it away. Actually it ist really beneficial for the ECO system!

No one in my family had a Christmas village! When I got married I always wanted one but they’re so expensive for a family of 6 kids. I saw the white plaster craft ones so I started buying the pieces and painting them myself. Each year I add pieces. I even bought a train! Lol. Now my children are in their 30’s and are saying that when I die, they’re going to have to split the village into 6 smaller villages because they all want it! I have working lights and all! Your soap is the bomb!!! It’s putting me in the christmassy mood!

Oh yes! I love this soap. It's beautiful and I'll bet it smells wonderful. As for the tree question, I've had both fake and real trees growing up. We started with a fake tree we had for years and it finally got so icky looking that my Mom decided we would get a real tree. Dad would complain every year that Mom and I had to get a huge tree. Mom finally had enough of his complaining, so she made him go get the tree one year. He and I went to the tree lot and picked out a pretty tree. He was so proud. He just knew it would be a perfect fit for the spot we usually put it in. We got it home and in the stand and in the house and we had to move furniture to accommodate it because it was the biggest tree we'd ever had, lol. I was the one who always did most of the set up, lights, and decorations. Now that my folks are gone, I just can't bring myself to put up a tree anymore. :'-(

We always got a fresh tree, because fake trees were too expensive, but then one year during spring cleanup we saw a fake tree box on the garbage pile of a store that said free. So my mom shoved it in the car and said “hey, if it’s garbage we can just put it out with our garbage.” We got home and set it up and it was beautiful!! The only thing wrong with it was that one limb was broken so it hung lower and made a gap in the tree, so we just put that side in the back. That was 7 years ago and we still have it and use it to this day and it doesn’t make a mess of needles 😁 (Also, maybe you could do a winter Northern Lights soap? I’ve seen them here in Canada and they’re beautiful.)

At my parents house we have my great-grandmother's fake tree. Part of the fun is that it's one of the early fake trees so it's so very clearly fake, but it's definitely old enough to be considered an heirloom at this point, so the tradition stands! It's also super short so when we jam-pack it with all of our ornaments it just looks crazy and I love it. We've had a real tree a few times, but the fake one is just so much better. We don't have a tree in my apartment because of lack of room and cat havoc potential. My mom has a Fontanini collection which is like a Nativity scene that's branched out into the whole village. She's got shepherds and angels and bakers and little weaver girls or whatever you might expect to find in a small village around that time. They all have names and stories that come with them, so it's pretty cute.

When I was a kid my folks used to get a real tree. We made a tradition of building a bonfire out of the tree on New Year's Eve. Nowadays my folks have a plastic one, while my husband and I have a holiday Storm Trooper! We both love Star Wars and we're too lazy to take it down so we just switch up the decorations to match the holidays.

We buy fresh ones because we used to get them at our local scout hall. It always made a mess and left your arms itchy from carrying it to and from the car but it made our house smell AMAZING. One year we even kept some spare fronds in the unusable fireplace in the living room to keep it smelling good until Easter :)

I have a Christmas village! Two actually. One is the Christmas Story village that my mother in law purchased us, and another is these little ceramic houses that I paint every year and add to it. We do fresh trees. I grew up with plastic, and it was sorta because of allergies and sorta because my mom hates real pine trees. For the past 14 years however (since we bought our house) my hubby and I have gone real. Despite I'm allergic to it, I wouldn't miss that fresh pine smell for the world. lol I just make my husband and daughter decorate the tree while I get the rest of the house!

We used to always buy a live balled tree in Tennessee the first weekend of December when we were down there for a Christmas party in a cave (yes you read that right). We'd haul it back in our Airstream trailer to Indiana and decorate it. When Christmas was over dad and I would plant the tree on our property. I'm 34 now and those trees are now taller than the 2 story hosue itself. We no longer live there but still try to buy a fresh cut tree. Last year I myself bought a small, sad balled tree, planted him myself and named him Bruce after the Incredible Hulk (because he's green). Bruce is doing well and will be getting a friend hopefully this weekend. I'm thinking Clint, for Hawkeye. Yes they will all be named after Avengers. These will become habitat for my birds and bats and ground critters as the grow after we had a lot of very old trees come down the past few years. Gotta be a good earth steward!

We always used to have a fake tree but two years ago we found a Christmas tree lot that let you walk through their land and pick your tree and cut it down and then you could go for hot chocolate and roast marshmallows, make a whole experience of it. It was the last Christmas we spent with our daughter, she passed away at the age of 6 last October. She had so much fun playing in the snow and she talked about finding our tree for months after, so we will always have a real tree and go back to that lot to get our tree.

Katie! When I was younger, over the period of a season my Mom bought a Christmas village piece by piece. It wasn’t your ordinary village either. It was the town of Bethlehem. It was complete with people, camels, sheep, trees, earthen houses, pottery, plants, even little details like the wood that stuck out of the sides that they used back then to support the roof internally. And of course, it had a manger scene, complete with an angel and a star. It was the biggest nativity set you could possibly imagine. It was one of my favorite pieces of Christmas not only because it was perfect, but because it was a so it yourself painted plaster craft! At the time, it came from a place called Franks Nursery and Crafts. I loved it so very much. Sadly, when my family moved, we never saw it again. But, that means it got to bless someone else along the way.... anyway. Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!

Also it gets her more revenue, since more people do celebrate or enjoy Christmas/Winter. It would be really out of place if she made an out of theme soap all of a sudden. She does try to make not really specifically Christmas soaps though, like her hot chocolate soaps.
