I want to clarify that the images are terrible, and I don't think anyone disputes that but, how come 5 female soldiers are (suddenly) described as "horrified innocent, unarmed girls"? Am I being biased? I've already seen (and reviewed) the video and, honestly, I don't see any sign of "sexual violence" in it... without a doubt, the images are shocking (and that's why Israel kept them and waited 5 months before releasing them, knowing (calculating) the impact they would have on the Israelis (especially on the families of these girls). There are rules of war however and one of the key ones is not to take civilian prisoners or even non-civilian prisoners who aren't in armed combat, and none of these girls were; they were ambushed while sleeping in their beds on the base, all unarmed. Another is not to physically or s*xually abuse prisoners, even legit prisoners of war. POWs must be treated humanely, given adequate food, water, shelter, and medical care, be allowed Red Cross visits, and be allowed to communicate with their families.

If people in the media care about preventing these events they should be very careful when they report what is happening, and aim to establish peace in the region. Biased, rage-provoking coverage of the news is one of the things that has allowed this conflict to persist. An Israeli could easily look at this report and decide to retaliate, making the conflict even worse. I'm pointing out the obvious here.
