Keep them .308 vids coming man! Your analysis of the versatility of this round is unmatched and the capabilities of it are definitely there!! New calibers keep coming out and maybe some do in fact have a ballistic advantage, however the availability of these bullets for reloading isn’t always good whilst the .308 is always available

love the multi purpose 308 content.... both of mine are 16" barrels to avoid paperwork but still have compact capabilities.... I have a Mossberg mvp scout for the precision(ish) stuff and a AR10 for the hard hitting battle rifle style... but both are capable of doing both. and they take the same magazines too...

This gives me hope for my 16” 308. I don’t reload so hunting down for factory ammo that it likes was a bit of a pain. So far my ar10 seems to like most 168 grain grouping 1”-1.75” and surprisingly loves HORNEDY 155 grain grouping 0.5-1.50”. Just need to reconfirm zero and work on my dope.

Nice shooting and nice array of bullets. I've commented before about trying bergers. I absolutely love them. My tikka 6.5 upr puts them in the same hole. I've done load development testing with the berger and basically the closer you can get to the rifling (and still feed correctly) the more accurate it will be. I followed bergers recommendation from their reloading book and I shoot quarter inch groups at 100 with it, and in consistent conditions I was able to get a 5 inch group at 1000. It's your channel don't let me tell you how to do your job 😂, but I would highly recommend that protocol. I shot 4 different loads starting from just off the rifling to further and further back. The further back it went the bigger the groups. Thanks for your time and effort in these videos!

I was getting 1/2 inch MOA with Hornady Black 168; Winchester Long Range Accubond 168; Browning Long Range Pro 168 gr; and Federal Premium Berger Hybrid 168 gr. Some of the Ammo where I was getting less then 1 inch MOA but not quite a tight as the aforementioned. Gold Dot 150 gr; Barnes Vor-TX 150 gr; Hornady Super Performance 165 gr SST; Federal Premium 165 gr Trophy Copper. Seems like the rifle prefers higher grain weight.

Man what a workout. That’s a lot of rounds. You sold me on the short 308 awhile ago. I also like the 168 SMK it’s a good balance for this rifle length. I think I enjoy most is watching you battle wind. The more the better. Improvement suggestion bigger and brighter wind indicators. Tape works but it’s hard to see if watching on a cell phone. I like seeing the shift in flags followed by impact change. Keep up the good work.

Great content. Judging accuracy with only group size is like judging velocity with only extreme spread and not looking at standard deviation. I use the Hornady 4DOF ballistic app, the only one I am familiar with, it has a feature to easily calculate median group size. It has been eye opening to look at my shooting in two dimensions.

I think 185 juggs out of a 16" is just about ideal for a DMR...at 14.5" I'd still stay with the 185 jugg! When you need a first round hit and the wind is +10 mph, I believe it to be the best trade off.

Been waiting on this video and it's exactly what I wanted to see. I think the 185gr Juggernaut was the most impressive. It had the tightest consistent group; those 8 rounds were just one big, ragged hole and it seemed to put the most energy on the plate. I've been running 150gr Gold dot in my 16-inch Remington defense R10, but I'm going to pick up some of the 185gr Jug.

Only thing you could add is that WEZ analysis software from AB. That way you could compare hit probabilities. The misses with the 175’s very well may have been hits either way the 169 SMK’s. You might also try H4895. I never got great velocity with Varget. Max book charge of 42 gr of H4895 w/ a 185 juggernaut got me 2620 ft/sec on my 20” barrel.

I religiously watch all your videos. I really appreciate your content and the way you put it out. You don't edit out the missed shots, which in turn helps us other shooters see real-time results in adjustments. I'm looking at getting back into an AR-10 platform, either 6.5mm, 6mm, or .308. I have a 6arc AR-15, that I love, but I have been wanting with a little more umph. It will be getting used for precision gas gun work, so 6.5 seems to be the best candidate. Plus, i have a bunch of handloads in 6.5mm. Although, you give me hope for a .308. Thanks for all the work you do. Have a great day.

Were the `178gr BTHPs handloads or factory ammo? Running the numbers (BC and velocity) in my calculator shows that this bullet will give you the smallest wind holds at 880yards. It looked like alot of your misses were off the left edge de holding too much wind. Could be interesting to spend more time with this bullet or even the 178gr ELDM as the performance (on paper at least) looks like either of these bullets would give the best ballistics.

It looked to me like a couple of those 185s were keyholing. Are you sure they're stable? Watch the video again one shot at a time. Looking at the Target after it's finished doesn't tell the story

Great content. Lots of interest in the 308 guns. Didn’t hear it mentioned but curious about powder in those loads. Having trouble working up a load for the 169 gr SMK. IMR 4895 was recommended so going to try that next as I have a bunch of it. I voted for you with the Gundies.

I’m running Varget in all of these loads. Basically the only powder I use anymore for any 308 load. Really appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and support the channel! Lots of new content coming soon so hope you’ll stick around to check it out!

Would love to get out there and test which .308 my Adams Arms SF-308 likes the best. Unfortunately my state government has banned AR’s and I chose to get them out of state rather then bow to their illegal registration! So I no longer have the access to it now. But hopefully the SCOTUS will take up the Snope v. Brown case and end this madness in 2025?! 🤷‍♂️
