Out of all your videos this one is my fave. The combination of snow, river flowing throughout the trail, snow, three dogs paving the way, wide trail, misty fog, good company and beautiful scenery throughout makes this adventure epic. I just moved to N Idaho three months ago and am determined to someday find and hike this trail.
@mountainwanderer3 жыл бұрын
This trail is definitely one to put on your list! I would suggest going in the summer if you plan to do the whole trail (we didn't in this video), there is a ford that you'd have to do to complete the whole trail.

Love to hear from the locals! If you have a cabin up there then I am jealous! I know that there are a few all of the way up there and they look amazing! Maybe I'll run in to you one day on the trail.

@@mountainwanderer I will recognize you if we do!! We will have a lot to discuss about the Mallard Larkins Pioneer area. Took my daughter there a few weeks back for her first ever backpacking trip, to the same place I went 30 years ago with my dad, and for a super unexpected bonus, my dad actually came along for his first backpacking trip in many years, because he finally got new knees. It was so good, I even took my daughter and my wife back there for labor day. Your videos help inspire our family to get back in to our all time favorite activity, seriously.

I always wondered what happens to that 309 trail!
@mountainwanderer4 жыл бұрын
So glad to hear that you're going into the Mallard Larkins. To me that is one of the real gems of the area. I'm a little bummed but the Idaho Trails Association needed a couple more volunteers to help clear out a trail in there. I'll just be finishing a trip when they head out, so I'll miss it. That place needs a little trail love.

That 309 trail has been cleared out a couple times since I've been going up there. Some how around Cataract Creek I always lose it. Always.

I dig craft beer also and keep my eye out for Radio Brewing here in central illinois. Thinking I probably won't see any here but if I'm ever out that way, I'll be lookin. Bacpackin, good music and beer, 3 of my favorite things... Happy Trails
