Thanks for posting this video. 1 16"x 7" chrome alloy wheel/225/60 tire down. 3 more to go. I used foam instead of wood. I also started with the wheel face down on the foam. So I wouldn't deal with the potential cosmetic scratches that could occur while prying the 2nd side of the tire over the wheel. Instead of using a c clamp to keep the tire from "spinning," I used a small rubber mallet, that ended up seating the bottom lower portion of the wheel. So that prevented the tire from "spinning." I didn't think it could be done without damage. But this was easy af. I rather scratch up my wheels and know it as opposed to a professional wheel shop who will try to hide it. I had an installer scratch up my wheels and try to hide it. Never again.
@bobmitchell45322 жыл бұрын
You can't often mount your tires from the "inner side" of the wheel. The way the hub of the wheel is constructed doesn't allow enough room to position the bead far enough inside the wheel. Hope that helps. I found out the hard way... 😂

I love how you converted your living room into a tire shop. I've been procrastinating installing new tires on my Hijet Japanese mini truck until warmer weather in the spring but now I'm rethinking that decision. 😀 3:40 - "We don't care about the underside." Until there's a slow leak where the bead doesn't quite seal. 😲 5:30 - I don't think I'd want my balzack on top of a tire when the bead seats. It can be very violent. I'm a fan of your minimal tool git-R-done attitude but I'm not sure that using screwdrivers slowly will prevent aluminum rims from being slowly scratched.

Awesome! I am inspired! Not only do they charge an arm and a leg to do this at tire stores, I can't get an appointment for 3 days! I had a friend whose dad would spray ether around the inside of the tire and throw a match on it to bead the tire. I think I'll use your technique; I like my head.

Usually the video makes it seem a lot easier than what it is. But I will say this video was spot on! I followed the exact same steps as shown and I had no issues it worked perfectly the first time!! So I definitely recommend this video to anyone who wants to mount a tire to their rim and want to do it pretty much effortlessly!!! A1 Video Tutorial!!

One thing I will say based off the experience of changing my own bike tires is overall your technique is correct take small bites and use your hands to finally push the bead over the rim IF you can. Great job dude although bike tires differ due to them using a tube, the concept is the same! One thing I like was your success with using screwdrivers thats impressive.

Is it much more difficult to change a tire (I mean to replace it completely) at a low temperature? I did my 1st tire, balanced it, and ready for the 2nd one, but the temperature here dropped. I saw in one film how they heated the tire w/heat gun, but how much, where exactly, all that is kind of vauge. Also in that film they were working on tractor tires, I have just regular passenger car (R16 tires). My HF Tire Machine is mounted outside, while it is snowing I won't do anything, but tomorrow it will be clear. So I decided to do a small research on the subject meanwhile. At what temperature you can change tire more or less comfortably, can you do it @45F, or it is too low? My main concern is that I can tear the tire or burn it w/heater gun. Thank you for a great film, but would you do that procedure at a low temperature?

You need angle on the tire? Push down on the side wall and the tire tucks into the drop center on the rim. Prying he bead over the rest of the rim pulls the tucked part of the bead against the rim keeping it where it needs to be no need for the clamp or lumber just something to pad the ground like a rug. And I’m surprised you didn’t tape your screwdrivers to pad them.
@TheMetalheadHomestead3 жыл бұрын
