OK, well, another WOW WOW WOW. You've gone and done it again. (For context, not only have I been to Bangkok several times, and Thailand about 6 or 7 times, but have been watching YT videos about Thailand for about a decade). As another long timer user of this IBIS I highly recommend it - the experience of being Right on the riverside ( esp at night with all the dinner cruise boats ) is simply unbeatable Perfect location - only 10 min to Silom etc

The striplion beef, called a portahouse in Australia, was only 20% more expensive than in Australia!!!!!! So reasonable. I love the otherside of the river. Only stayed around Lumpini on Wireless Rd or Lang Suan because near the office over the years. But on my radar next trip.

Thai craft beer laws certainly are restrictive. Hopefully this will change soon and inspire the next wave of innovation. I originally read about the law after researching Outlaw Brewing, a brewery in northern Thailand set up by a Canadian resident. The company was forced to move to Cambodia to continue business but you can buy their beer in Thailand as an import.

Still rocking my now 3 yr old android phone (with builtin gimbal, ZEISS lens and practically sees in the dark). It's half the price of iPhone but can use any phone to film. To edit, after my 2015 Macbook Pro suffered a 3rd bout of battery bloat (9000 baht/$300 fix;) I bought a then new Macbook Air M1 which is tiny but twice as fast and perfect for editing on the road (and at $900 a relative bargain). The bigger M2 Macbook Air 15" was tempting but as they cheaped out to save costs by using 1x256 ram vs 40% faster 2x128 in M1, will wait to see what M3 ecosystem offers. STL

I am impressed by your knowledge on the subject and I was not aware of the excess power that is available in Thailand. I was just there in September and it looks like the power poles and wires are on their last leg, but I do believe your assessment. I am from US's left coast where it is being forced down our throats all while facing brown outs and being asked to charge at off hours. I saw the bee swarms of scooters bellowing out their exhaust from the sky walks at Terminal 21 and agree that an e-bike wold be nice for pollution and noise. It was fun to watch though😬Thailand seems to be one of the leaders in transportation, light years ahead of the US, so maybe they will pull it off. Cheers STL!

For my next trip I was looking at a place across from Sena Fest for 25K. I couldn't bring myself to pay that (in 2020 I paid 12K for... not riverside but a huge ~100m2 place) so I ended up booking Pattaya lol. Will spend a few days around Charoen Krung though. I know, paradise is paradise, but I've spent 13 years going exclusively to Bangkok, and it's really fast becoming less and less human. I like that you're much less jaded than I am lol.

When I lived at that condo there was a 44' Sea Ray Sundancer moored at a slip next door and to my envy every month or so a Westerner would arrive (with his mostly female entourage;) and off they went. There's also an actual marina up river, google 'Riverdale Marina Bangkok'. Another option a couple hours South is Pranburi near Hua Hin, or Ocean Marina near Pattaya. As far as property WITH mooring, down Phuket way there's Yacht Haven and others. So, some options and what a nice dilemma. Enjoy, STL

Not cheerleading per se, simply pointing out what's actually happening here in Thailand (and at a startling rate). Here's more on my own feelings about EVs etc from an earlier response: -Love big block V8's, old Chevy's and esp old British sports cars. Just looking round corners to see what's coming. Personally don't care for any Govt assumed 'mandates' ala "On xx date all petrol/ICE cars are no more". Would also add, any who think we don't need oil better wake up and realize that we need a plan for oil too, or prices will soar like never before (as producers cut back production). But for me, living in Thailand, electric is making more sense given few parts to maintain, far cheaper to run and plentiful charging with more coming. Only bought my 20 yr old car last year as a bridge until domestic manufactured EVs with even lower prices arrive likely within 2 years. Buying a new expensive petrol/ICE SUV in the next 5 years will likely be a rapidly devaluing purchase. Again, don't shoot the messenger, just reading the tea leaves of what's likely coming. Eg: this EV will be made here next year 370,000 Baht/$11k, drive Bkk-Pattaya & back on a single charge: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXPHh3-EgrVrmqc Cheers, STL
