They pulled it off the market after 2015 just before the overlanding/off-roading market really exploded...

Toyota almost killed off the 4Runner around the same time due to lack of sales. They held on and have since sold very well. Too bad Nissan killed it off just before it got trendy. Ironically I think Toyota killed the FJ in the US after 2014 which would have sold well had they held out another year or two.

I'm actually a proud owner of a 2003 Nissan XTerra, it's now on the verge of 200k miles and still runs and starts up like a clock. Talking about the Olde Reliable vehicle. We'll done Nissan, we'll done. I hope you bring the new generation as reliable as the last 2. ❤

It shouldn't be too hard to turn the Frontier platform into an old school SUV, its a slam dunk. Of course electric power steering and improving the dashboard/screens would help. Even if they don't update it, they could just undercut the 4runner.

Bringing back the Xterra seems like such a no brainer. The original Xterra was a breath of fresh air in an era when SUV’s started getting really high end and expensive. It provided a value proposition being a more utilitarian, lifestyle vehicle. It looked great, it was super simple, mechanically and borrowed a lot from the Frontier of the era, which was also kind of cool being the first small truck with a crew cab in the states. That philosophy now, especially with the pushback of buyers either the new gen turbo 4’s and hybrids is a great opening to steal done market share from the new 4Runner. A naturally aspirated V6 will make it unique in a sea of turbo 4’s. And I agree, that refreshed 1st gen look great and would be a good reference for styling cues. It mimicked the original Land Rover Discovery with the raised roof but had its own look.

Overseas, there is a Body On Frame SUV called the Terra (which uses the same platform as the Navara) and in the Middle East, it's called the X-Terra and I think the SUV immediately after the silhouette of the Navara truck at 7:49 IS the new Terra/X-Terra but I'm not entirely sure.

Bought a 2002 SE manual in Lava Red. Drove it for 15 years through mud snow and the beach. Many camp trips. Carried kayaks and mt bikes. Tough suv. I would buy another if they don’t make as a sissy city truck. Needs to be traditional. A front solid axle would be epic and blow away the others.

My first car was a red 2000 Xterra. I put on a complete 3" lift kit and 32" BFG ATs. Inside I had a compact Midland cb radio and this awesome nylon webbed cargo net that attached to the ceiling hooks. I could fold the seats down to sleep and keep clothes and gear in the net. I haven't had anything that cool since. There was no AWD and traction control crap in it. It had a transfer case and solid rear axle with an LSD. You could throw it in 4-High on the fly under 40mph and just give it hell.

My aunt had a 2009 Pathfinder. She doesn’t really know a lot about cars. She used it until 2021 with 173,000 miles. She said she only did 5 or 6 oil changes in its entire life and 3 sets of tires. She bought it for $27,000. Dealer gave it a trade in value of $16,000. I think the transmission was going out because it hesitates to shift due to the lack of transmission service. But, what a reliable car and will definitely last longer with proper maintenance. She’s now on a 2022 Nissan Armada.😂

Thanks for the review as always! Nissan, Nissan, Nissan..... You guys are turning into that person you've been dating, ya know they're gonna disappoint but you still hang in their for familiarity! 😅 I owned a 2010; it was cool, I just wanted something more street-stylish versus off-roading! Got a 12 Murano and modified it out with wheels, sport bumpers and roofrack delete. I gotta a different vision for a future Xterra though: I know Nissan'd never do this, but imagine they did a 3 different platform Xterra; 1) your base 2) an off-road, and 3) street! Base (stripped down which could be built up per the customer). Off-road (more like the one we all remember, roofrack, towhitch, dirt tires etc.) Street (lowered with sport wheels and lowpro tires, pano roof, leather etc....) All with a v6 engine vs these new hybrid 4s! This would spread across more markets! Just my thoughts, I know Nissan would never do anything like this though! ✌🏽❤✊🏽
