Fun fact, when they were shooting the scene where Bofur throws the egg into Bombur's mouth, Stephen Hunter (the actor who plays Bombur) actually caught it on the very first try, so everyone's reactions to that are 100% genuine. Which just makes the whole thing that much more awesome and genuine. What's funny is that no matter how many times they shot the scene afterwards, they just couldn't get it right, so they kept the original. It was a really funny ordeal.

And they are 100% going to respect fine ceramics passed down a family line -- careful craftsmanship and tradition are practically instinct with them. As silly as they're being, they'd never deliberately harm something Bilbo had received from his ancestors, nor something Bilbo had crafted with his own hands. CGI plates if you watch a making of you can see Aidan Turner (kili) doing what appears to be a weird dance but is actually doing something for this scene, there are some points that I believe they may have used plastic ones or something but its mostly CGI

Beautiful screenplay adaptation of Dwarves and their traits. They might be crude, obnoxious, messy, loud, but in the world of Middle Earth, they are some of the warmest, friendliest, most team-oriented, nimble, LOYAL, and organized races (hence why/how they managed to clean up Biblo's house as if it was brand new afterwards + their superb technological skills compared to other fractions)

Think about this in the context of good and evil in Arda. Gandalf is here, fighting a war on a world-ending scale and he's enjoying the company of these mere mortals. He looks at them as they are, the children of Aulë, not entirely intended to be in the world but here they are, enjoying the good life and bringing much joy. It must warm his heart to see them be merry like this. Makes you glad to know that after all things are sorted, Eru accepted the dwarves fully as his children.

Lyrics of this beautiful song : Blunt the knives, bend the forks Smash the bottles and burn the corks Chip the glasses and crack the plates That's what Bilbo Baggins hates! Cut the cloth, tread on the fat Leave the bones on the bedroom mat Pour the milk on the pantry floor Splash the wine on every door! Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl Pound them up with a thumping pole When you're finished, if they are whole Send them down the hall to roll That's what Bilbo Baggins hates!

This was a stressful evening for Bilbo, but you have to imagine that in the years after coming back from his adventure, he looked back on this night very fondly. Hell it's probably why he enjoys throwing parties so much by the time we see him in Fellowship.
