Keep in mind the beast, in Beauty and the Beast, was rich. He literally lives in a castle. As with a lot of women, Belle could overlook physical imperfections because of the luxury that the beast could provide. In this interpretation, it looks like the beast has no money, so this relationship is completely implausible, even in a work of fiction.

You missed the part where the "beast" in this movie owns the house thst Laura lives in. Seriously, calling this a Beauty and the Beast adaptation is super surface level, this movie is a lot more than that.

The home that this beast is an owner of in this version is not opulent. It is modest. It certainly is not a mansion, much less a castle.

Your Monster might have some things in common with Beauty and the Beast, but it is not Beauty and the Beast. That doesn’t make it a worse movie though. laura and her ex is the part that’s based on a true story obviously it’s not talking about the horror elements but laura being mistreated by her ex and being broken up with while in hospital is it’s something the writer/director went through with her ex
