Imagine if we got a muggle born wizard character or a person who was a wizard but raised by muggle side of the family like Harry was, only in America. But due to being a registered citizen in the muggle world, he and his muggle brother were drafted to fight in Vietnam. Picture if you will; having the ability to not only survive but win the Vietnam war and not being able to use *any* of it, regardless of circumstance… In the tunnels, imprisonment at the Hanoi Hilton, Ka San, even the Fall of Saigon. He’d survive but with battle scars, the knowledge of how outmatched the Wizard world is, endless war stories to build a franchise off of, and enough ptsd that his therapist could write a bestselling book on. That’s basically what this boils down to. Only escaping the country by use of magic and the Vietnam wizard world. Along with winning a court case for use of magic near muggles (the Vietcong) by looking like the aftermath of a war zone, it being self defense, and putting the entire wizard community in it place by telling them the truth about muggles and how wizards are no longer the top dogs. Not only that, but following all this he openly uses Voldemorts name without fear or worry because “nothing he does can compare to what I’ve seen.” As well as spend the following decades stocking up on guns, amo, and military hardware inside the Wizard school for the inevitable war with Voldemort and his armies. He later became head of Muggle studies at the main wizarding school in the US. Think Skinner from Simpsons with his Vietnam flashbacks. And during the war Voldemort began in the 90s, he used both magic and wizarding stuff along with and guns and guerrilla warfare to cut down the deatheater army like a magical Rambo. So much so and to such an effect the Deatheaters were convinced that there was an entire army of hims numbering in the hundreds when there was just *one* of him and later joined 20 other people… 30 other people at the absolute most… all of whom were people he trained. That would be quite the story. Now imagine a conversation between him and Arthur Weasley. A wizard who has more firsthand experience with the muggle world than most muggle norms will have in a lifetime meeting a man obsessed and fascinated with the Muggle world but as zero experience with it.

Something I’ve always thought off, It’s nothing to do with this video is why do witches and wizards hide magical creatures like dragons, and mermaids like magic its self or creatures that can do some form of magic like house elf’s, mabye should hidden to keep ISOS intact, but a dragon is generally a big lizard with wings and breathes fire and Acromantulas are just very large spiders so why are muggles shielded from these creatures Besides for their safety since now people could protect themselves properly and if they knew about said creatures they could take precautions to keep themselves safe

Dragons have to be hidden because of the ISOS, if they weren't hidden people would likely come to ponder about other magical creatures (unicorns fir example) which could escalate to finding out about wizards. Acromantula's are not just big spiders. They have roughly human level intelligence and actively hunt humans for food. Keeping them hidden is both for safety and again preserves the ISOS.

The Wizarding War for independence. An alternate reality wizard world would make for great reading. Imagine If MOM tried to assist the British Muggles. It's high time someone made a dark more adult take on the wizard world we've grown up with. It could be very illuminating as you can strike up discussions on moral dilemmas we are facing right now. One thing I've noticed in the fantastic beasts films it does not address the issue of muggleborns. from what we can tell from the Harry Potter books in Europe muggleborns have been around for a while Slytherin actually protested allowing muggleborns to attend Hogwarts. it's like they completely dropped muggleborns in the fantastic beasts franchise. One issue another is that in the movies the president is sitting on a large chair like it's a throne and does not resemble a congress at all. Not to mention they were willing to sentence newt's Commander to death on without even having a trial.

I hadn't thought about this, but it makes no sense that MACUSA would have been named as such in 1693. The term "United States" wasn't even coined until the declaration of independence in 1776. It was called the United Colonies. JKR would never have made this mistake in the original series. :(

The school probably called them saying that Harry has trouble seeing and that he needs glasses. They felt that they needed to give them to him to keep up appearances or have to continue to deal with the school. I always assumed that they bought him the cheapest one they could (but still does it's function).

Pretty well as Ilvermorny accepted students of all birth if you were pure-blood, half-blood, or muggleborn you would be accepted as a student and unlike Slytherin all of the students in the Lake Serpent House were decent, great kids who actually didn't mind having housemates who were half-bloods, and muggleborns and actually got along great with the other houses including their friendly rivals the Wampus Cat House.

I like that JK expanded the wizarding world, but I wish she would've tried a tad bit harder with fleshing out the American wizarding world. We still don't know how the native american genocide or slavery or segregation played out in the wizarding world. Sure, wizards and "no-majs" lived together with wizards hiding the fact that they have magical abilities, but surely there were racist wizards who contributed to the genocide or slavery. And surely these racist wizards would've fought alongside the confederate forces during the Civil War. I doubt they would've abided by the "secrecy" laws. JK seems to have just washed over all of this to paint an easy: "people of all races lived together in harmony" (at least as what is depicted in the movie) because Saraphina is the president of the MACUSA in the 1920's, despite there still being heavy racism and segregation laws in effect during that time.
