Just like to make 3 comments: 1. With everything getting done faster and bigger, ships, buildings, and machinery I don't know why city planners don't make bridges much higher and roads more usable friendly for the transport industry. 2. It still amazes me how car drivers think it's a smart move to try and pass a turning truck. 3. Great video, thanks for letting us come along. With most people taking things for granted, most people don't realise the amount of effort and skill it takes to get the job done and you highlight that very well. Thankyou.

Cause it doesn't really make financial sense for the diminishing returns it may or may not have. increasing the size of a bridge could add millions onto the construction cost, and same with making roads bigger, then you also have the massive maintenance cost that comes with running those services. And all it will do is lessen the inconvenience of moving these loads by a little bit? That's a lot of money your saddling with tax payers in comparison to the cheaper methods they already employ today that can be covered by the individual jobs themselves. Another thing to remember is even if they spend the billions needed to make all the roads better to move large loads around just means those loads will increase in size again and then you'll be back at the same issue of the roads being too small.

I live about 10 Kms (6 mile) north of that site. It is just east and between Route NJ 21 which is a 'double decker' set up there due to limited room (each level in one direction - the lower to the north, the upper to the south) and the Passaic River. I have gone by that plant 100's of times over the last 50 years. It is about 2 Kms north of downtown Newark, NJ. It is a kinda rough industrial area.

No the biggest we have now for highway use is 13. For anything bigger we use Goldhoffer setups but they only take short distance local contracts.

I'm finally catching up.... lol 1st trip: If you guys are registered for 99,000# or 45,000kg in each state, then you would be able to take more than one piece since heavy haul isn't a special permit. Jersey and CT don't issue them (but that hasn't stopped me lol), and NY is a huge pain in the ass since you have to get a permit for each truck and trailer combo. That state sucks with all of their bullshit fees and permits. I pulled dirty dirt and one job coming out of Jersey going up to St Ambroise we would load for 100,000 which was an extra days pay heh heh 2nd trip: I always wondered where the wide loads went through at Lacolle. Thanks for the ride down memory lane!

Curious...when you picked up the trailer to head back to NJ, you flipped the back axel down before heading out. Any reason you wouldn't leave it up while empty and flip it down in NJ? My uneducated self would think the shorter empty would be easier and less tire wear and there's a crane/equipment on site to help flip it down.

The only time I see the axle flipped is at 22:13 and that is in NJ.

Before heading down I added an extra axle to the truck but the trailer axle remained flipped until I arrived in NJ to pickup the load. Yes we try to be as short as possible when possible.

that bit at the start about the canada vs the usa, was that about the company being a canadian company and not a usa company? about not being able to take a load from kentucky to new jersey? if its your citizenship , can you get duel citizenship and would that allow you to do "local" haulage in the usa? might be worth looking into?

It is very complicated and costly to get a work visa as a truck driver. They don’t want us taking work away from American truck drivers. I didn’t say impossible just not worth it. Anyways I like the fact that my company needs to bring us back home. If we could haul anywhere they would keep us in the USA hauling around like a ping pong ball 😅

Some of the things we do are in order to comply with our out of date laws. Quebec actually requires 5.51 meters from steer axle to first drive axle in order to maximize permit weight. In most of North America longer is better according to the Department of Transportation

Don't get me wrong, I think you're one of the very few truckers on the tube that is truly intelligent and actually good at what they do. This second load is a prime example why the driver/company need to make the call as to whether an escort is needed. In this case NJ makes very loose requirements but too many incidents like this or a crush death and the state will clamp down on requirements for all of us. I'm sure there's going to be people saying why in the world would that black car at 33:54 do that. I'd suggest they not pull OS loads and maybe even not drive a truck. Legally he/she did absolutely nothing wrong and got the aggressive horn. Reading a truckers mind is not a requirement and don't try to make the blinker argument from 2 lanes over. There was too many cars back there to expect everyone figures out the situation half a block up. Drivers, if your load requires you to be 2 lanes outside the proper lane for a turn YOU NEED A CAR. Keep in mind the office doesn't battle the traffic and if a couple hundred for a mini bothers them then they need to do way better at their job of quoting! Don't let their bad quote affect your stress level, driving record and public safety. Overall a good job and video though. Thanks for your content.

Yes people don’t realize the restrictions that go with hauling these finds of loads. A lot of the restrictions are just excuses for the DOT to hand out tickets and another form of taxation

Seriously, that law about Canadian truckers seriously needs to change. That is something that you should bring up to the attention to the Canadian government. They seriously need to put pressure on the US to change that law. Deadheading increases the costs of transport, and ultimately, the consumer ends up picking that bill at the end of the line. Its also bad for the environment. It makes us less competitive as a country. It just seems like one of those measures that just about everybody should be able to line up behind.
