This is so fucking true. My father moved us into a very wealthy white neighborhood and it wasn’t even a gated community. The moment we moved in we were greeted by our neighbors. It was so odd. Even before we moved in, we were setting up some furniture and stuff inside the house for when we do, and even then some white folks came and welcomed us. They brought some of their baked goods and shit and wanted to get to know us when we settled down. This was mind blowing to me. I was 18 at the time too. Now I’m 20 and it’s still kinda hard to get used to. White people be too nice.
