Congrats, that's fantastic news. Edithvale is fantastic. If you do find a property there, I know another British family who moved there a few months ago and also have a youtube vlog. Maybe you could be friends :) Pakenham and Officer are a bit inconvenient for anyone who doesn't have a car. Public transport (trains, buses, etc.) is fantastic almost anywhere else in the suburbs _except_ for that area. If you don't like Bayswater, have a look at somewhere in the general area, like The Basin, Boronia, or Ferntree Gully. House styles can change a lot between those suburbs, even thought they're so close together.

I'm not sure which map you're looking at, but the fastest beach to drive to from Bayswater probably is Edithvale, it's a straight line down Springvale Road from Burwood Highway. Much faster than trying to get into the inner east to St Kilda, especially if you're trying to fight peak hour traffic.

Wow what a lovely couple. I was on a round trip of Australia a year ago. I really loved Melbourne it seemed to have every thing. It has a massive sector which is where all the world famous sport championships are held. Not to mention cricket !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. It had free trams around the centre of Melbourne. Fantastic world famous market. Oh just so many fantastic things that are too many to put down here. People were lovely. I will follow your channel and I wish you every success as you well deserve it. One hiccup gosh am so jealous as being 71 am not wanted in OZ as they consider its too old. I loved every thing out there. We were told the traffic getting out of Melbourne can be horrendous but hey what city is any different what ever country. Well done for leaving the UK its a hell place at present.

I had to look up those suburb's to know which city it is, Melbourne. Look forward to cold weather for the first 5 months. Its no Brisbane with sunshine all year round. But hopefully you'll enjoy it and definitely go coastal you only live once, get the best you possibly can. People enjoy Melbourne city but i will always be a Sydney Brisbane guy. I would be going for Brisbane Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast if work permits. Good luck 🇦🇺🤙

Melbournes beaches are on the bay so really fkat sea, not like the icean beaches. Prevailing cold wind is SW from the southern ocean, so bay beaches are exposed to the wind, but the bay area is very pretty.

Congratulations, a very exciting time ahead for you. Be aware that the beaches around Melbourne are nothing like the beaches in Sydney that everyone talks about such as Manly and Bondi. Melbourne is at northern end of a large bay called Port Phillip Bay, there's no surf beaches in the bay. You'd need to travel more than an hour to an ocean beach if you wanted surf. And Melbourne can get cold in the winter, not as cold as the UK but pretty cold so don't sell all your warm clothes.

Congratulations! Melbourne is my favourite city to live in. Endless things to do and places to eat, sports, theatre, shopping, art galleries et cetera. The Bayswater area is a bit "light industrial" (I used to manage a factory there). Not great for public transport (no trams, only buses). Living somewhere nearby like Vermont/Vermont South or Blackburn or Nunawading might be better...

Hey welcome to Melbourne. A couple of suggestions 1. Football in Melbourne is AFL not soccer. 😉😊 2. Dont limit yourself to the east of the city to live. The west of the city is much cheaper and fast growing. I live in Altona, a bayside suburb about 20 klm south west of the CBD. Much cheaper, less crowded, a great cafe and resturant precint, a nice beach and has got great transport options 3, Despite what some say here, Melbourne is safe, prosperous and is just completing some huge transport infrastructure projects that will alleviate many of the traffic and public transport issues. 4. Embrace the culture and lifestyle and take the mostly good with some of the bad.
@oko_adventures13 күн бұрын
Hey, thank you so much for all that information 😀 we haven’t looked into the west of the city yet but will check it out and add it to our list of possible suburbs. We need to remember that about football as our son wants to join a soccer team not football 😅 thank you for watching and commenting we are getting to know so much more about Melbourne and where to go etc 😀
@geoffmaloney271713 күн бұрын
@@oko_adventures oh don't get me wrong, football (soccer) is extremely popular as a participation sport, it is just that we have a fairly weak national competition, that can't compete with AFL or Rugby League in the Northern states. He will have no trouble finding a team to play with. I only mentioned the west, as it has been a bit maligned for years but a bit further west than we are, is the fastest growing area in Australia. Where I live we are on the largest coastal wetland on the bay that stretches for about 50 k south to Geelong and the housing is about 200k less than the same type of suburb in the east on the bay. Also the roads are much less crowded. Anyway will watch your channel with interest. We were all migrants to Australia once and for you guys to move halfway around the world is to be admired. Good luck with the adventure.

The only problem with the west is going to be getting to Bayswater for work i lived in Werribee about 10 minutes south of Altona and I worked in Altona , during peak hours it would take me anything between 45 minutes to 1 hour to get to work considering you would still then have to negotiate the traffic over the westgate bridge and out the other side i wouldnt recommend the west for your current situation .Nothing wrong with the west just the traffic can be horrendous particularly trying to get to the other side of Melbourne . A couple of spots that might be worth a look would be Frankston 49 minutes to Bayswater and right on the beach . Or another approach would be Rowville a lot closer to Bayswater not so close to the beach but has cycle paths everywhere even up into ferntree gully and puffing billy ect .Also as someone said the beaches in the bay are i guess what you would call almost safety beaches no surf just small waves in most cases a gentle slope into the water ect very good for young kids but not for surfers lol .Hope things work out and im a new sub so looking forward to following what you get up to .

Anywhere from Mordialloc down to Seaford is a great choice. Suburbs between the coast and the Eastlink Freeway. Once you get further east to Pakenham, Berwick, Clyde/Clyde North these areas have been developed so much by housing estates and the government have fallen behind in making them accessible. They are cheaper but I would recommend paying a little more for the bayside suburbs!

I am an European who lived in Mordialloc, Chelsea, Carrum Downs 15 years long, when I came in 2005 it was very nice area to live, after Covid this area become to overcrowded, expensive and with the expensive and terrible overcrowded trains was not nice to commute from CBD every day anymore. The ocean is always cold so it is good just for walk around but not really to swim there. In 2022 I was so frustrated from Melbourne and its wokeness that I sold everything and moved to Brisbane and I like it here! Melbourne became a place not to be, full of 3rd world immigrants, expensive, homelessness, corrupted government, terrible traffic, changeable weather all the times, you need to heat your place at least 6 months, huge tax and diying CBD. I do not suggest to you to move to City of Casey, Western Suburbs as you will live in little India, the Bayside is most likely the best, however the best is not even be in Melbourne! This city is done, however good luck! This is my view as an European not as an Australian as Australians might be not able to see many things as people from Europe. Good Luck in Melbourne ! I warned you!

Good luck - if you've sold your house great but might be worth renting it out as on a 482 visa you are subject to Foreign Investment Review Board restrictions if you want to buy rather than rent here unlike citizens and permanent residents. But in moving to Victoria you are in a State that does not charge fees for any kids attending a public, state school. But private and Catholic Schools (who often accepy non Catholics) are far cheaper than private schools in UK. Sorry if you know all this. Dollar is very weak at present but I would not bet on pound or UK economy.

@@oko_adventures Just to be a bit nerdy as someone who travels several times a year to Europe when you book your flights try and get an A380 on all legs - Singapore, Qatar, Emirates, Qantas and Asiana all use them for some, not all, legs here. Qatar, BA and Emirates squash an extra economy seat in their B777s (3,4.3) unlike Singapore (3,3,3). Check seat maps on Aerolopa. BA only fly to Sydney. Join Qantas or Velocity (Virgin Australia) frequent flyer programs. You get Velocity points on Singapore and Qatar; Qantas points on Emirates, BA, Qantas and Qatar. If you sign up for a Woolworths rewards card Qantas FF is free. Velocity free any way. You might get enough points for a cheap eastern Australia flight. I always break my journey in Singapore -bit expensive but most organised, cleanest and safer countries in world. Great, cheap food in hawker centres & great public transport. Breaking it in Dubai for me is too close to Europe. Just an opinion.

@RJS428713 күн бұрын
@@oko_adventures If legroom is critical & you are feeling adventurous I always fly to Europe via Singapore. I use Singapore Airlines budget subsidiary Scoot from/to Oz to Singapore. Their Scoot Plus seat is same size as a Premium Economy (38 inch legroom) but for an economy price. But v average food and byo video. Then book a fare onwards from Singapore but always leave minimum of days break plus pay for $40 flexibility option. Economy fares to Europe on full service airlines have come down but you pay at least twice for Premium and 3 to 4 times for business. KZbin has an experience video on every airline and plane..
