Autumn in NY is amazing, it's not all grey from October on.

I do love fall in NY especially Upstate. BUT seasonal depression is a real thing for sure, and NY sadly has some pretty grey skies especially compared to NC :)

We have no fall foliage since the 2nd week of October, the 5th of October I took a trip along the Hudson valley by catskills and even then all the trees were 70% bare 😓 it’s very depressing at least for many of us that are so stressed with the insane cost of living and having to work so much

I've been to NYC and downtown Charlotte and I have to say they both are pretty big downtown
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina Жыл бұрын
This is true, they are both large. However, Downtown Charlotte can be circled in about 5 minutes on I277. NYC would take hours lol. Mostly because of traffic haha

retiring in a couple of years trying to figure out can i stil afford to move to Charlotte how do i figure it out
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina2 ай бұрын
I guess affordablility will depend on a lot of things such as retirement income, desires for lifestyle etc. I will say we are one of the more affordable cities in the country and the availability of several varieties of home prices. I'd be happy to talk you through your options :)

Good NYC pizza is hard to find. My parents and family that visit all agree Du Amici in North Charlotte is legit the best outside of NY

how can I move from NY without a car ? That’s my biggest thing is getting a car.
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina4 ай бұрын
That is tough. There is public transit but we aren't as big as ny nor population that supports extensive mass transit, so having a car woild be pretty necessary or living in an apartment near like south end where you can walk to grocery etc

Is Hickory NC a good place to live? Only an hour from Charlotte. Prices look good. I was wondering what your thoughts are? Thank you
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina Жыл бұрын
Personally it isn't one of my favorite areas, however it is not a bad area. Its a bit of a pass through city/town. Troutman and Denver or Lincolnton are great but are smaller. If you would like something more busy, you would be looking at Hickory though. Not a popping city, but it is more populated :)

@@livingincharlottenorthcarolina Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated. Yes I wasn’t sure it looks nice with the lakes and mountains and revitalized town area but it does seem isolated from other areas
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina Жыл бұрын
@Ag completely agree. I think it's like any town, you have your nice areas and your ok areas... and you're no no areas lol. Closer to the lake is a nicer location

What's the differences btwn Charlotte n Raleigh?
@livingincharlottenorthcarolina Жыл бұрын
great question! I lived in Raleigh for many years and the big differences are: Population, Demographics, and Economy Raleigh's population is far less than that of Charlotte and with it there is a smaller city, smaller roads, less businesses. Don't get me wrong its a great city and they have grown a lot in the last few years, but it always feels like a little big town. With that the more popular towns on the outskirts aren't quick to get to without tolls or lots of traffic (ex: Holly Springs) Secondly is the Demographics. Raleigh is neighbor to Durham and Chapel Hill. Between these 3 cities/towns you have over a dozen major colleges including 2 of the largest state universities in NC (NC State and UNC Chapel Hill). Due to this, the population is made up largely of College students, or college graduates (NCSU has over 40,000 students alone). Not a bad thing, but it is usually much more quiet in summers Third is Economy: There are jobs but it is not as diverse as CHarlotte for opportunity. In addition, many of the students in college scoop up entry level positions after doing internships through their college years (as was my experience). I will say however that if you are in the right industry you will be in heaven! The Research Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) has attracted some of the biggest tech companies from across the country. It is constantly growing and this could be a good option for you.
