My hometown, growing up. I remember when it used to be a city of about 60,000 people. It has really blown up, and there’s tons of stuff to do and really good food there now.

This made me tone deaf, like you read it from a prompter. I'd recommend putting your personal opinions in this that aren't mentioned in statistics, people like first hand experiences commenting alongside statistics. But considering your profession, saying anything less than neutral would be bad for business. Some things that weren't mentioned: as for "homeless" people, obese woman living on the corner of south Walmart for about a year and through the winter, that was interesting to see every month. You'll see people with signs at exits occasionally too. There's a good selection of places to eat and get food from, hotchip burger being one of the best burger places. Rochester is a hotspot for foreigners to move into, there are specific neighborhoods (apartments) they stay in. There's probably a demographic sitting around somewhere that covers this. Rich neighborhoods in the hills or out of the way avoid a lot of crime. East and southeast Rochester sees some crime, I lived down there for a while, had my car broken into once in 2 years, and sometimes you'll see tweakers tweaking around downtown late at night or early morning. As for the cost of living, Walmart and hyvee for an example, most items as of writing this right now, cost about $4-6 each, gas is between $4-6 too. Haven't been to any of the downtown locations personally but I've heard good things. As for rent, if you're alone, and don't have a well paying job lined up, goodluck finding anywhere to live for under $800. You'll have to look into surrounding towns or look for roommates. But if you're working for mayo, this probably isn't a problem. Medical care is the main commodity in Rochester, nothing else is really produced here, everything is mainly imported, so with the medical thing, the nickname of Rochester is "med city". I don't know much about the education here besides the college, the college is alright, it's a college, nothing impressive. Commuting is pretty speedy if you avoid downtown. The highway cutting through the city is the fastest route and reaches the mall, hospitals, grocery stores and a movie theater down south. That's all I got for right now.

I know Rochester, MN extremely well. It can get very cold and snowy there in the winter. It is more of an overgrown town than what I consider a city. I love Rochester but I could understand how people might think it is boring. The only real urban area in Minnesota is the Twin City metro region.

I remember when I lived there as a small child there was one winter where the snow looked really tall, although this might have been because I was so small. I also think Rochester instilled my love of fall

I used to live in the Rochester suburbs right next to my elementary school, and it was honestly very nice. Once I move out to live on my own I assume I'll live somewhere like rochester

Lived here almost my entire life. It's a little boring but I think it has more pros than cons. I just wish we had a high-speed train to the twin cities, that would be an absolute dream. I have friends there and there's a lot of shopping and other attractions I'd want to do there but it's not worth living there for. The drive isn't bad but I hate driving so I don't make the drive very often.

Yes, I lived there and could not wait to leave. Mayo Clinic employees are rude and arrogant. Employers are shady as well. I worked for Rochester Direct( Kurt Marquardt and Dean Wickstrom) they withheld the required taxes for Social Security ect. Never paid the taxes into the program. I recently called Dean Wickstrom to inform him because it might have been a mistake… it wasn’t. He immediately hung up and blocked his number . I will gladly spend everyday defaming pursuing legal actions. Dean Wickstrom could have said, “ Well mistakes happe”. But no he hung up and blocked his number. I’ve contacted a free legal counsel that will take a percentage. This so called Christian businessman robbed me of a comfortable retirement. Avoid Dean Wickstrom and Kurt Marquardt at all costs. They will rob you and inquire about your religious affiliation.

@@user-mf6li4sw6n Typical christian, they commit sins so they have to ask for forgiveness every night because they commit so many. Not all but most, lol. 😎😎So sorry that they did that to you, sue their ass! Thanks for the info, can I ask, how are the winters and do I have to buy a freezer to store food? I want to buy a house here to retire and I'm gay, so that is another issue. Is it safe for me and my other half?

Ugh, this video being in my recommendations proves KZbin tracks us when we aren’t in the app. How else would it know I’ve been to this town? Anyway, Rochester is not walking friendly. Lacks sidewalks in places, streets are wide and dangerous to cross. Basically you need a car to go just about anywhere. Buses stop at or before 10pm. The air quality is not great. It’s humid, muggy and hot in the summer. People that ride bikes on sidewalks don’t alert you that they are coming. Not many stores, at least from the ones I was in, have a large selection of organic produce. I literally had the worst Indian food ever in Rochester from hyderabad Indian grill restaurant.

Lived in Rochester my entire 45 years. Minneapolis has TONS of crime. Crime has risen in Rochester but very safe compared to many parts of US. You can get anywhere in Rochester in 20 minutes. SW is best area to live. SE is the worst but I have acerage in SE. What are you looking for and where are you from?

My hometown as well. Sorry to come down on the side of pessimist, but public education here has been in steady decline here since the 80’s. Many restaurants were shuttered due to lockdown never to return. 100,000 population has attracted the “real” gangsters from Chicago. Race relations has always been excellent here despite Obamas best effort to successfully set back race relations in this country fifty years. Don’t take my word for it. Just ask local football great Marcus Sherels.

Rochester promoted itself as the number 1 city of its size. Then the Chicago inner city crowd started its migration. The. The Somali and Middle Eastern peoples. The Mayos influence is far reaching. It’s all about image. A number of questionable and shady transportation companies started to shuttle from Minneapolis international to Rochester. Shady and dishonest ( Kurt Marquardt and Dean Wickstrom ) . I recently inquired about my Social Security benefits and it’s been revealed that Rochester Direct( Marquardt and Wickstrom ) never paid my Social Security tax. Collected but never contributed. I called Wickstrom and informed him about the issue only to be hung up on and blocked. I’m Looking into Legal Remedies as the polite way has not worked.

Do not Move to Rochester Minnesota. It’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Do not ever walk on the street intoxicated because you will be harassed by the local police. Some of the biggest pricks I’ve ever encountered hail from Rochester.
