I'm Cypriot, born in Solihull. Raised in the UK but the culture is pure Cypriot. My family over there are no different to the family over here. I'm grateful for the living that the UK has provided, but, and I never thought I'd ever say this, I miss the old school (quiet racism) that we had when I was in my teens/early twenties. The thugs they are letting in now are making the UK unlivable. There's nothing but death left here in the UK and the old school English folk that I used to hate are also walking into a nightmare and saying absolutely nothing about it. Same in other countries not just UK. We will be there very soon as well, although we don't have to go through the hassle to live there that you did. But if we did have to, we would because it's worth it just to escape this death trap.

Went to Paphos last year really surprised by the huge amount of ethnic cultural enrichment that has taken place there. To be honest they were everywhere. they are rude they push and dont wait their turn for anything. I felt sad for what Cyprus will end up being overrun like the UK is now. Went to Rhodes this year which was a totally different story. Still Greek !!

@@fencer39 I have to agree here somewhat. I've been 5 times to back the village this year. The first 3 times they were everywhere but the last two times they were all gone (in the village at least) After talking with my cousin he said that they have started deporting a lot of them. I think the damage is done though to be honest, however, I am hopeful that they can turn it around. Mazotos is the area I'm referring to.

Hardly a big difference,yes Cretes going to be cooler in the winter and spring by a few degrees,but little or no difference in the hot summer,if its baking in Cyprus its likely much the same in Crete
@panayiotapanayiotis86692 ай бұрын
@@paulr75 Hey Paul. I don't agree, as we all have different tolerances to heat. Cyprus can get into the low 40s in the summer for days at a time (sometimes higher as the news don't report accurately), crete tends to be mid-high 30s. this makes all the difference to me personally, it makes the difference between being outside and being shut up indoors in an airconditioned room. i've spent most of my life visiting both islands in the summer and spending weeks-months at a time there and those few degrees higher are intolerable, especially if you're there for a whole season. It's easier to tolerate if you're by the beach all day (my younger days), but for actual living and getting on with life and daily chores, too much for me. Though, I would consider more mountainous areas of Cyprus. Nothing is set in stone yet, but I'm looking forward to exploring the idea.

you made a comment, Some people think the rich should pay more. This is something that really winds me up. Tax is a % of your earnings. so people on higher incomes do pay more. Why the UK increase the % you pay the more you earn is beyond me. Don't they understand people will bugger off once they reach a threshold? I know of someone who sold his company for around £50m. Yes I agree a load of money. He was faced with the dilemma of Staying in the UK and paying something like £20 million in tax or Going live in Monoco for 3 years and paying nothing. After 3 years, he could return to the UK without a tax bill. So the taxman in the end paid for his life in Monoca for 3 years and he had change. The UK need the millionaires as they spend here in the UK. It's what keeps the economy strong. When will they wake up and smell the coffee?

First time commenting, I think for most people since Brexit, it would be extremely difficult to do as you have done. It obviously helps that you've been lucky with the stock market but have no doubt worked hard along the way. Not going to disagree that the rich tend to be able to take advantage of good tax advice so they can avoid the majority of them, one of the main reasons for the Brexit vote was to avoid the incoming EU tax loophole closures, fortunately anyone who derives their wealth from UK businesses can be taxed at point in the UK, also the rich pay nowhere near as much on wealth when compared to those being taxed on earned income, as a proportion to their income. Would also disagree, I think wealth taxes need to increase if we are to increase spending on public services. Would be nice to see a comparison between your old house and the one the rent now in Cyprus, I'd also invest in a car port if you have a half decent car as the hail can get pretty destructive over there between Jan -Mar, I was lucky enough to spend 12 weeks there, years ago whilst serving in HMF...
@NuttersInCyprus2 ай бұрын
We will have to agree to disagree. If big companies have the choice of paying 0% or 25% then they will choose 0% and move it off shore. Raise it to 50% and they’ll still choose 0%. However put it 5 or 7% and a good chunk would opt to pay it to remove the complexities involved in having a very complicated company tax set up. Lower it, receive more! Increase it, receive less! That’s how it works but unfortunately you and many others all shout put the taxes up. Another down side to the increase in taxes, means lower margins, which means the need to import more cheap labour. Which means increasing RRP, in return making it harder for the average person affected by the cost of living crisis. Also with the luck comment, this is what everybody says, but luck is where preparation meets opportunity. And for transparency, my portfolio isn’t where I have made my money. Money was made via online retail. All the best mate, and thanks for your service 🙏

Hi there, I like your videos, thank you for making them. Enjoy hearing success stories, glad it has all worked out for you guys. Could you please do a dashcam (if you got one) video of a car journey where you live. Would like to see the roads (hill steepness, etc) would also like to see the houses, etc. Just gives an idea of the local area. A few other things that would be interesting to know is the private health care in Cyprus, can you recmmend any particular private health care providers please. With reagard to your older British friends in Cyprus, do they have any home help for personal care/ housework and if so, how do they find it and how much does it cost? The reason am asking is that we thinking of retiring abroad because of long term care costs in the UK. We would like to remain at home and have full-time home help but that will currently cost us £1200 per week, so was wondering what Cyprus has to offer and if it is cheaper. Appreciate that it may not be a subject you want to cover, etc but just thought would ask. Thank you and hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

Hi there, I moved to Cyprus with my Cypriot husband 20 years ago. The majority of older Cypriots have a live in carer, mostly from Vietnam, Philippines or Nepal. The average cost would be around 600 euros a month if they live in and they do a great job.

I've been an HGV driver and still do a bit now and then. I'm really considering packing up my business and moving abroad. I can't be dealing with the stress of it all and I just seem to be earning money for a government and a direction that I am categorically opposed to. I've spent a lot of time looking for a place that Brits can move to and get the right to live and work. Most are unviable for various reasons. i.e, you would have to take their driving license and their version of CPC, etc. You need to be pretty much fluent in the language to get a work visa, You need to go there and find work but you have to have the funds to support yourself straight away which if you had to do a driving test in their language.... its gonna take a good while before you can earn. There is also a lot more patriotism in EU countries such as France, Spain, Portugal, Italy and employers aren't all that interested in taking on British people over their own. There is an exception though... You might be interested to know that Germany has recently given professional drivers a special visa. There are government led pathways into getting out there and finding work placements. You can just exchange your HGV license for a German one without any test and get working. If you do 5 years out there in that industry, you get granted permanent residency. You can take family and they will get the same status as you do and they can work. If you look on the German property websites, you can get a really nice 4/5 bedroom home for £150k. . . If you are serious about leaving then that does seem to be one of the only options in Europe right now. I was looking at the area south of Munich which is only 3-4 hours from Italy where I was originally looking at moving to but its a pipe dream there. Last year I did a big road trip down to Italy and then back up through Germany. Its an amazing place as is the whole western boarder, up through the black forest. The food, beer, social life, the culture is amazing and its spotlessly clean, has outstanding scenery and it turns out to be pretty cheap to buy property there. For a British only speaker, German is supposedly an easy language to learn. A lot of similar words and the language is structured like speaking English.

Hi Helen, If your on a UK passport you can't work. Unless you have a sponsor. And then it'll be bar work most likely. As your daughter is over 18 she will have to have meet the yearly earnings criteria. For us it was roughly €28k per married couple + €4k per child. As your daughter is an adult, she would have to have an adults earnings needing to be met + the bank deposit in Cyprus.

Most thought we were mad to them we had the dream, nice house , new car and worked for myself oh yes seven days a week .Sure it gets lonely and you miss weddings birthdays funerals etc and catching up with your mates is probably the most thing l miss, but you make new friends and have new adventures. We made a pact that we would give it two years and if either one of us didn’t like it for whatever reason we wouldn’t argue with each other that we would just return because what’s the worst thing you could do go back, I never wanted to be 10 years down the track thinking I wonder what it would’ve been like?
