Everything depends on your setup and the yard. I have found some need to be edged and trimmed before and some don't. It also falls into grass type and condition. You make adjustment on the fly that can increase your effectiveness and efficiency. I get to play on 2 yards that give me the chance to figure out each setup. I'm not going to include my yard only because I'm not always the primary mower.

I have 4 power tools. The condition of the yard dictates which tool I bring out first. My preferred method is to use by blade edger first for sidewalks and driveway. Then I use the weed eater on the perimeter of the house, fences, trees, gardens, and edges where needed. Then I use the blower to put all the debris on the lawn. Then I mow with my mulcher lawn mower setting or switch to bagging on occasion. I finished with the blower again. I do the same for backyard but omit the blade edger. I use the weed eater to edge the patio. By the way, my technique for house walls is to use the weed eater turned vertical instead of horizontal. I don’t want to damage any walls or fences. Then I may trim the same area with a weed eater but the string doesn’t touch the wall or fence. Most people who have many yards will pull out the lawnmower first especially a big yard like that one. Time matters. For me it doesn’t so I can focus more on quality. Biweekly lawns favor using the lawnmower first because you’re not dealing with a lot of debris. You must do what works for you. The fact in lawn care is this. There really is not enough lawn care people. You will find out when you eventually have to turn away business. If you didn’t you would be working full time 7 days a week. Working by yourself will eventually lead to a limit. You can make a lot of money and be content. Otherwise, you will have to depend on hired help to expand. There is a shortage on people willing to do hard work like lawn care. Many homeowners hate the task of cutting their lawn. In this industry, your competition is really not your competition. Your client is going to judge you for what value you bring to their service needs. I view all lawn care workers as my brother’s in the industry. I have a great respect for them. There is plenty of pie for everyone.

First of all thank you for taking the time to write this long detailed message! As you summed it up in the end! All lawn care providers are brothers and sisters in the industry!

Everyone that weed eats first is kind of right it could leave a cleaner look if the grass is longer,but if you weed eat first and then mow you might have to come back and do places you couldn’t hit. But again if your just push mowing that shouldn’t be a big issue that’s more for commercial mowers. I weed eat first sometimes on properties I’ve already been doing and know where my mower can and can’t hit. 💪🏼 keep grinding bro

Very true! Yeah some properties you kinda know already where to you can and cannot reach! Thanks bro! Keep the grind!

How much do you charge for trimming the palm fronds?
@Greenergroundslawnservice Жыл бұрын
The ones on the video, I’d probably be at roughly $40 per palm tree. They aren’t too tall, they’re maybe 12-15 ft tall
@victordefrance7800 Жыл бұрын
I would trim and edge first if I was using a push mower, but if I’m using a stand on I would cut first so I don’t have to worry about smushing down the edges once I set them.

If the grass not overgrown I weed eat and edge first. Overgrown grass I weed eat last cause I don’t like snakes.

I weed eat first. I do that because, weed eating throws taller grass into the yard. Then I can go over it with the mower. It just looks better for me. I started out with not a lot of equipment. God has blessed me with an enclosed trailer, 3 stand on mowers (1brand new), nice blowers and weed trimmers. Keep up the good work. Get your name out there. Post before and after photos. Advertise year round. It will pay off. Business just takes time.
