Do you want to be poor. Long time customers will pay more because they value your hard work. You shouldn't touch a tree for less that $50. $120 an hour, 2 hour minimum. Respect your trade.

Thanks for sharing! Glad to see your doing really well! I’ve found that the more recurring clients we get the easier it is to say no to jobs that don’t make money.

I also use a machete for the top, I got on top of a ladder and swing outwards, never inwards

Does the machete slice a lot of the leaves? I use a pruner but the bushes are getting too wide and I would like to flat trim them like you are doing.

If you do full swings top to bottom you’ll get a good amount, get yourself I think it’s a 21 or 22” blade to maximize your coverage

A machete ? Really ? How does that fly in a HOA (Home Owners Association) ? Ive been a Landscaping business owner for 29 years and NEVER EVER seen a machete in ANY professional setting..... Folks, just use a hedge trimmer....

Why not use a hedge trimmer?
@Greenergroundslawnservice
@Greenergroundslawnservice Ай бұрын
With the hedge trimmer that reciprocating movement of the blades you’ll chew up leaves and damage the plant, leading to some more leaves falling up from having these chewed up leaves exposed to the sun. With the machete it’s one clean cut, easier for the plant to heal and stimulate growth

Hey, my brother, I've been in landscape since 2007. No, it's not easy coming from one landscape to another. You gotta take One Day at a Time. Or other, you can't let this business overpower you. I know we gotta make the money for our family. But when things happen, you gotta take a breather. Trust God he'll work it out and your health will get better. I know you made a decision to do this business on your own and not work 21 investigator of it. Having this independence, you can spend time with your family and provide with your family. But you're going to have a good days? But the bad days don't outweigh the a few days just hang in there. My brother, I promise you, it's going to get better. I pray for you and your family and your business that it's going to strive. God's going to make it work it out. He worked it out for me. Show things break down trucks. Break down breaks. I get all that cause I do it all the time. It's just part of the Beast out here. When you're doing landscaping, just take care of yourself and know this. The best is yet to come.This is map landscaping from out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.Take care of my brother and let's talk to you soon

I'm sorry that you are going through a tough grind right now man. I'm just starting my lawn care business at the age of 45. I'm married and have 2 small girls. I had enough of working for other people and wanted to start my own business. My family had a lawn & landscape business growing up, so...here I am. I thought about it and prayed on it for over a year. I believe this is what God wants me to do at this point. I struggle with doubt and fear. I don't want to fail. When I'm struggling, I ask Jesus to take care of everything. I turn my angst and worry over to him. It helps. God bless bud.

Sorry to hear about your situation. Fresh injuries have pain for a few days. Hopefully the pain will lessen over time so you can continue working. You can later address the injury when you are ready. Take one step at a time and do what you can.

You should strongly consider bringing someone on for the rest of the season. Don’t cause yourself a lifetime of pain. Allow your knee to heal properly. Year 3 and it seems like it never ends. (Truck trouble, equipment trouble, employee trouble, client trouble) Control what you can and keep moving the ball down the field. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Nick I truly appreciate the word of advice! I’m still trying to earn a few more clients, luckily calls are coming in, that way I can get someone onboard for remainder of season! I do see the lights it’s just a bit far right now. And luckily almost a week later mobility is better, walking a bit strained but about 65% speed hoping it is fast heal!

Yes I tried electric first and it just hacked them up, all I have read says hand clippers but man that will take forever. Didn’t realise how big these grow when I bought them!! I thought machete would be bad for the leaves also? Is there and electric clipper that works for these besides spending hours hand clipping?
@Greenergroundslawnservice
@Greenergroundslawnservice 2 ай бұрын
Machete isn’t bad for the leaves, it makes clean cuts so long as it’s sharp, the electric clippers due to the nature of the way the clipping mechanism works, it just chews up the plant and that’s what truly damages. And because of the maintenance and manual labor is the reason trimming and maintaining Clusia is a hefty price
