When I first heard this music in my childhood, I always thought that some woman was singing along with the piano. Later, after learning how to play the violin, I got impressed by the magic of the violin.

I love the inter-play of melody line like chasing kittens,,,, the piano echo's the violin with teasing antics... and the violin challenges with jumps of scattering leaps,,, peeks then hides. The piano seeks and pounces with delight. Such a fun romp.

It is so beautiful! It's so warm and full of sweet melodic grace. The theme of the slow movement is the same tune as a hymn we used to sing in the Baptist church, "Fairest Lord Jesus".

It is my favorite too! And there is an arrangement of this work for violin duet which is wonderful. I still remember the day, as a child taking violin lessons from my father, when he introduced me to the book of 12 Mozart Duos. That arrangement of this piece is the first of the duos that I studied and played with my father!

My favourite part is the closing theme in 2:10 till the end of the exposition ... there's just something about that melody and the chord progression that precedes it that makes this moment very special, and magical. Szeryng made his violin sound like an actual human voice, a very sincere and supple tone. Thanks for sharing this amazing recording!

I call it "the Mozart move": themes at the end of the exposition which are playful, carefree and witty. Mozart often keeps his best aces as a last comment after the main themes, like in the first movement of Jupiter symphony.

I just opened this youtube without seeing who's playing it, and i understood after a few seconds that it was some top world violinist, because of the quiet gracefulness. Yes, henryk szering! 11:28 The German speakers might recognise the church song: "Schönster Herr Jesu". Interesting because the melody´s provenance is given with Silesia (today Poland) in 19th century. Maybe the melody was around much earlier in Former Austrian Empire...

Double speed is too fast I think. I loved it at 1.25. Even 1.5 was a little too fast for my taste. But I agree, a little faster than this version is ideal for the last part.

Striking resemblance at 11:26 to 11:36 to the popular hymn Beautiful Savior, or Fairest Lord Jesus. A note on the hymn: The tune, originally a Silesian folk song, and the German text were printed for the first time in 1842 by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben and Ernst Richter under the name Schönster Herr Jesu (Most beautiful Lord Jesus). I haven't found any references linking Mozart to this hymn or vice versa.
