Ive been using the mic touch for 2 years now and still trying to find reasons to switch. I thought newer machines looked sexier than mine. Truth is. I run the touch from a desktop pro which makes it crazy responsive and fluent. Truth is, you have the touch, you have the live and the x in terms of performance. I can't find a reason to switch over other than the look. So what you really want to hear is... there is NO difference in specs. I run the apollo twin and it sinks great with my touch/ mac computer. Honestly, the computer opens other avenues for creativity with the net and all. My whole point is, if your looking for a reason to switch over, other than looks, there isn't any. Peace fam, and I hope all your musical dreams come true.

Love it. Thanks g I was worried cuz I just realized the live is double the price but fuck it if I gotta hook the touch up to a computer and i still got midi compatibility i think there’s really no difference. Stand-alone is ideal but damn it’s pricey af and if you got a interface you can sample basically the same way. Appreciate the optimism 🙏

I get tempted to get an X, but, I'd use it mainly in controller mode. My MPC Touch has 32 outputs, and 10 Midi I/O. Why? Because I use an RME Digiface USB. So, I have 32 outs into Ableton. I also use an MIO XL. So, all of my HW synths have their names come up in the MPC software. Also, all of my inputs are on Apogee conversion. I keep asking what would I gain with an MPC X?

What about latency of MPC Live in controller mode? Is it the same as touch?
@MatthewStratton6 жыл бұрын
You can put the audio sample rate to 96k with the MPC LIVE, so you can get better results. If you put the sample rate to 44.1 kHz it will be the same as the MPC TOUCH. If you have a decent computer latency is really not a big issue. You just need to use a low buffer size. If you have an old laptop with a slow processor and slow ram, you might run into issues.

The only thing about both is if your a on the go type producer the mpc live would be the better one being it's stand alone. If your a in-house producer and don't be on the go mpc touch is ok to have just being in the studio. Or if you just can't afford the live the touch is the way to go being it's cheaper.

I would recommend the MPC Live over the touch if you can afford it. Everything works out of the box with the Live and if you wanted to you could use it as a controller for the MPC Software you can. If you don't care about standalone, the Touch is a good alternative.

What does 8 audio tracks mean on the mpc live? Once you load the sounds into the touch, can you unhook it from the computer, or does it always have to be plugged into your computer to use?

8 audio tracks use audio in a linear fashion whereas midi tracks use midi events to trigger audio. The mpc touch needs a computer to work. The mpc live doesn't need a computer to work but can control the computer software if you want it to.

Hello. I haven't tried it. You might be able to get the pads to act as a general midi controller as well as the buttons and q links. But iMPC is a completely different program/application so it is unlikely that it can communicate with the touch to make a mock standalone mpc.

Am I nuts for grabbing a Touch on auction site yesterday? Already have the Studio and Renaissance and a Force. My thinking is, I’m used to the Squarish nature of most MPC’s and the Force. I do plan to buy a Standalone, just haven’t decided wether to go One or Live II and if the rectangular shape of the Live II is going to bug me and this was a inexpensive way to try the Rectangular workflow. The smaller Pads that everyone yaps about on the One are worlds bigger than those on my Force so doubt that’s an issue. The lack of an internal SATA controller that people wail about is easily remedied with a Powered USB Hub and external HD or SSD. Oh NO no battery, another non issue for me. So many problems thanks for this informative channel man. I too use a Windows tablet with my MPC’s.

Nice comparison, man. I could not get the MPC Touch to work at all, with Windows 7, 64-bit. At all. Tried EVERYTHING. Followed the instructions to the letter. Could not get the DisplayLink garbage to work. All it showed was a continuation of my desktop. It never connected properly. And I have no idea why. Sent it back. Utter pain in the ass. My MPC Studio gets the job done perfectly... no need for the absolute trash that is the Touch. If anyone is considering it, just go right to the Live or Live 2. It's not worth the headache. I restarted after every single step. And it would not install the driver properly. Googling led nowhere. It has this like "driver signature" issue that I could not bypass whatsoever. It never worked. I spent two days trying to get it to work. If you know how to get it installed and the driver to actually install... please, do let me know. I could try picking up another one. But my god, what a headache.
