@@LiamKillen Hi Liam. About the blur on the screen from your overhead camera, it might feel blurry because it is overexposed. Higher density parts start to glare everywhere when they reach a peak intensity. The luminosity of the screen exceeds the ambiant one of your room. Therefore, three ways to improve that : - either you bring down the exposure on the camera itself (if it is set to a manual setting) - either you dim the luminosity of the screen from the MPC One software - or either you bring more light fixtures and direct them to the MPC. Therefore your camera, if set to "auto exposure", will reduce its overall exposure and the screen will look sharper. Thanks for your great content. All the best.

I think what i’m going to try is to put the screen on night mode. That might help too! Thanks for your info!

That’s what I’m doing! There’s something about focusing on MPC screens and I think I finally figured it out- the actual screen print is probably like an inch lower than the outer layer of the screen- that may be it. I’ll get it lol

@Liam Killen - I'm a bit late to the show, but one of the most useful (and well hidden) feature of the MPC's is the ability to route the output of tracks/pads to Sub mixes.... here, you can have one submix for the kick (with the MD Input) and others for bass, synths, etc. (all with the Mother D on it). I also add my standard effects to sends. Finally, I map everything to a launch control XL, and save as a template. Now, when I want to make a track, I use the template, and I've got my sidechaining, effects all set up, and I have a mixer all set up, so I can get hands on with levels, muting, and efx. Now just route your tracks/pads to the appropriate submix and Bob's your uncle.

Great inspirational tips there man. Never though using mother ducker to compress my drums, but I used it more like a gating effect. Keep it up!

@Hysteric_Subjects3 жыл бұрын
Wait what does gating effect do? Vids or it never happened! lol
@LiamKillen3 жыл бұрын
It’s what it sounds like. A gate that you have control over. So if you choose for it to be open for 30 milliseconds for example, your sound source will sound for 30 ms and be completely cut off afterwards.
@nicholasbishop8844 ай бұрын
Thank you for this. Any recommendation on how to use the sidechain compression to duck a track without an audible audio input? For example, if I have a pad intro I want to play without drums, can I use mother ducker to sidechain to a midi source or silent audio input to create the ducking effect without also hearing the drum or input in the mix??

I’m pretty sure you can do that - like in a DAW. Although I myself have not tried it !

Is mother ducker the only compressor with a sidechain input on the MPC? I see there are several other compression algorithms. I kind of want to hear a A/B comparison of the sidechain compression of the MPC vs an external bus compressor doing the same thing.
@LiamKillen2 жыл бұрын
I’m pretty sure it’s the only one
@Joebabylon2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the vid! Any idea how I can avoid the mother ducker making the pads that I’m ducking too loud/distorting? It seems that the tiniest change to threshold makes the pads way too loud/distorted.

Thanks for the informative videos. I wanted to ask you about the pad sensitivity of MPC one. I used to play with maschine mk2 , and when i transitioned to mpc i noticed that pad sensitivity is not so great here.Since you are finger drumming ,i assume that pads are important to you , so did you do any kind of moding regarding pad sensitivity on mpc one? I know that some of people just play always full level , and then adjusting volume in mixer. But how about playing synth plugins , when you want more natural feeling ? I do have a keystep37 for synth parts , but in general would be nice to have the pads on mpc a bit more naturally sensitive and responsive. On old maschine they are way better ,at least in my noobs opinion. Once again thanks for the content :)
@LiamKillen2 жыл бұрын
My pleasure thanks for watching! I find the pads at default to be quite responsive actually do I haven’t touched the setting- it works for me! I did notice that for the highest velocity you’ve gotta hit that pad pretty hard but I kinda like that. My neighbours prob don’t though 😏
@Stadsjaap3 жыл бұрын
About your o/h cam... you might wat to set it a little higher and zoom in rather than trying to get it as close a possible. (Digicams traditionally use horizontal lines to determine focal depth, so zooming in could help to flatten the depth of field.) Just a thought...
@LiamKillen3 жыл бұрын
I've tried that! It's the screen on the MPC that's just auto blurry if you shoot head on. If you angle the cam it seems to work better which i've done in some more recent videos.

You lost me with the "track 10 is for universal drums" part. Could you please elaborate? Thank you in advance!
@LiamKillen3 жыл бұрын
You can either program individual tracks for each drum or have several drums on one track “universal drums” so if you choose to side chain to universal it’ll side chain to all drums on that track. If you an individual drum (one pad) it’ll side chain to that instead.

I think it’s the mpc one’s screen you have to be at a certain angle for the screen to be clear on video for some reason

I tried changing fps- and even at an angle it’s a little tricky. 🤔🤔 I’ll keep asking around cuz it’s distracting.
