That’s actually entering the edits, not accessing the features. I think the furthest deep it gets is three clicks to get to inputting commands, ie, selecting loop points, tuning filters, etc. The 4k has exceptionally accessible features, actually. Dedicated buttons for each command page, dedicated number pad, softkeys for the sections of each page…you’ve got it backwards, my guy.

Hey dude nice video. Please could I suggest a video about how you do you sample slicing? Like how to set you points, how many slices, determining length, how to get it to mix with other elements of your track and keeping in time. Is playing the sample per slice possible to do on the octatrack if you make 16 slices?
@joebetz63173 жыл бұрын
I popped into tracklib with that 9th wonder/Bob James push and made a beat with an Impeach the President groove. Was a lot of fun! I've wavered on whether or not to keep it as most of my music doesn't lean into samples, but after getting a digitakt, I might keep it and try to get into this workflow!

I love the idea of tracklib but I also love really digging for obscure things nobody knows about, having them pre curated and ready to sample just feels so blegh. It’s great for the artists being sampled but now everyone’s gonna be sampling the same stuff lol
@zacharyrowden76923 жыл бұрын
I hear you but at the same time with pitching, chopping, effects processing etc I can't imagine having a recognizable use of a song in one of my tracks.
@wanderrice33453 жыл бұрын
@@zacharyrowden7692 oh man I understand you for sure, you can’t tell what I’m using at all. It’s just the idea that we’re all using the same clips and whatnot curated by a service just takes the feel out of finding that one rare sample
@zacharyrowden76923 жыл бұрын
@@wanderrice3345 for sure, I mean a lot of the joy is on the process isn't it? It's a totally different thing to crate dog or snag old cassettes from thrift stores etc... much more of a craft. It would be cool if there was a service like this that let you bring your own samples to them and then they could do all the licensing etc but that sounds really difficult to pull off I'm some automated way
@tracklib3 жыл бұрын
Fully get your point, but would just like to point out that we've got tens of thousands of records that no-one has yet to sample, or even download. And since our catalog is growing quickly and exponentially, everybody certainly won't be sampling the same stuff. We've got plenty of obscure stuff, and more records than any record store has on display. And you still have to do your own diggin, just with the help of filters, but even at record stores there's always sorting and curating of some sort (genre/decade etc). Don't really know what you mean by ready to sample? In our opinion record stores and "KZbin cratedigging playlists" certainly curate A LOT more than we do. Please give our site a go through the free trial and if you do; we'd love to get some feedback from you.

I really like the Tracklib model - Splice has some good samples but most are too processed, either the fun of processing myself is taken out or they just sound bad from the jump. Signing up once I finish moving, when I first checked them out it was all individual song purchases.

Hey Ricky, hope you are good. Let me ask another question about the 4K. Are you using the chopped sample and the drums in the same program or is their any way to use the chopped sample in a program on track 1 and another program with drums on track 2? At the moment it looks like the 4K only let me use only 1 program in the sequence or song.
@RickyTinez3 жыл бұрын
they are not in the same program. BUT you can do it that way you just slice using reigons and export to new program. but you can still access those slices in the pad assign menu. its been so long since this video but im pretty sure thats what happend haha. thanks Martin!
