That's what I'm thinking. That's why they delayed the launch and make no mention of standalone on their sight now. That males it less attractive as I work only in standalone untethered.. From the time I'm using my computer, I can use a myriad of programs that are better then stems and then may as well use some vst plugins that make the mpc ones sound rubbish. And while I'm there, may as well use the powerful audio plugins that I downloaded for free. Heck may as well just use my pc and use the pads to.trigger the sounds on my computer. Not exactly what I invested in the mpc live for. Maybe we will get the powerful live 3 which will be able to handle processing and less memory constraints..

Same. Serato studio is free and has stems. Just use that if you're forced to work with a PC.

You really should be making beats in controller mode. So much better with your grid on a giant screen. Plus, transferring samples is just a drag n drop.

The fact that there is a video teaching how to transfer stems between software and standalone seems like a clue that we won't have stems in standalone mode anytime soon. This may be greater than the available capacity.

Not the case. I made this so it helps you guys with a simple method to move from controller to standalone. It's a super useful workaround. Stems for Standalone will follow soon. Hope this helps dude.

I completely agree, This should've been available upon an upgrade of the MPC to be utilized in Standalone mode without having to go through all that workaround. It should be available right there on the MPC for all users.

Huh? We are waiting for standalone regardless. No harm done in it being released in software while we wait like we are anyway. Akai was 100% transparent when they announced this that it would hit the software first before we would see it in standalone.

Controller mode was always launching first. This was communicated in all the videos in Jan. Standalone version will follow shortly. When you purchase Stems, you'll have 3 activations which can be used when Standalone version arrives.

Guess what, after being mailed by Akai showing a picture of this MPC One with Stems on it and saying this is it Stems is available !!! I jumped on the website to order it, and discovered it wasn’t for standalone….. I asked a refund and you know what ????? I've got it running in a trial version of MPC on my mac using my key61 to control it. Works great, how about extending the trial license for those that just use standalone normally, till you do the full roll out?

Great that we are moving on into a new area. Logical that we need a computer first and this is a good workaround to start with. Having it fully standalone is for sure also your goal but most likely it is not so easy to program into the current os. The implementation approache looks smart and fits like a mpc glove. Going to try it out.

I had to install the inMusic Software Center and was able to update and activate, so try that and opening the software is the hardware . open it and then navigate using your hardware. it'll work. Best of luck

Controller mode is revolutionary in my opinion. Glad to see stems in it I used my one plus and made something sick in it yesterday. And this isn’t that bad of a workaround. Just be patient family.

@akaiprovideo Thank you for the Desktop Version first because we all revert back to the desktop to do mixing and printing. It’s easier to use it in this fashion then not have it on desktop. Just transfer the files. Doesn’t take long and if and majority of samples have stems. It’s the ones you’ll need to clear before you can get paid so it’s not that big of a deal by taking 5 minutes to transfer it.

I strongly suspect that it's hardware limitation causing the stall! I'll explain: When all of this was announced I got very excited. BUT then I considered the processing power to create stems. An MPC controlling a computer would have access to a hefty CPU to create them, whereas the standalone unit doesn't. I have RipX software on my computer (with a powerful CPU) and it can take serious time to separate stems which are superb. My strong concern is that Akai may have over promised on the standalone unit having enough horse power to time ratio to work well enough for production. I seriously hope that this sin't how they will try to sell this! I noticed immediately in the promo videos that the MPC was shown 'standalone' yet there was a usb lead going straight off camera, meaning it was controlling software. Never once has this been shown running on a standalone unit......

From Sample Edit>Menu (button)>Program Edit which does not show the screen you have at 1:12 seconds? why is that? and also, the top left corner with the MPC menu drop down, its not "setting"...its "Preferences" in the drop down... Is it supposed to say Settings when you click the dropdown menu under MPC?

They always release it on software first , they did it with flexbeat aswell , in a way they beta test it this way. And im seeing many people having issues with activating it or it doesnt show up , so hope that they fixed all if this before standalone release , cuz i only work in standalone

Yes it is, they just don’t show you the correct way to update. You have to use the inmusic software updater. I’m currently running 2.14 on the desktop, upgraded on 26 March.

Someone who is all Team Standalone explain to me why you wouldn't connect to a computer. Because you can plug it into a computer, and plug into a mixer going to a recording/playback device, same as standalone. So why not use the power of a PC? I don't get it.

Hi Mike, Desktop wasn't delayed. March was the scheduled release date we announced and that's when it was released. We also stated controller mode would be launched first, followed by Standalone. That was also correct. Hope that clears up any confusion.

Lot of negative feedback, I can’t wait to get drums from my favourite records. Even doing it this way is a game changer. There was a day I could only save to floppies and had to save samples across multiple disks and sequences on another disk. It will come eventually.

Akai if you're reading this please make the Stems feature available for Standalone users. Just like you have all the new Plug-ins available when one does an update the Stems feature should be available for MPC users right on their MPC without having to go in controller mode. It would be so much better to have The Stems feature available to use right there on the MPC on Standalone.

That was always the plan. The initial launch was always Desktop Software first in March followed by Standalone. If you've already purchased Stems, you'll have 3 activations available which can be used on Standalone when available.
