Just did some long trip ~1000 miles, got 21.3 mpg on average on my stock 23 TRD pro v6, ~65MPH , 2 passengers and me , fully loaded bed with skiing/skating gear, food, and other stuff... I also have rock sliders which decrease my millage, and of course the weather is pretty cold over here, mountains...

At 2000 miles on my 24 Tacoma. Did two tanks in city and two on highway on eco and normal testing my MPGl. Normal gave me better mileage by 1mpg. I usually go 350 miles between fill ups. Averaged 20 in city and 23 (26 with tail wind/21 with headwind) highway. When the estimated range hits zero you still have over 2 gallons left in the tank. I hit zero range at about 325 but routinely go to 350. Would have loved a 400 mile range in the new Taco! For those who don't like this engine and transmission, they are better without a doubt. Faster, more torque and smoother shifting. This engine has been used in several Toyotas and Lexus. The turbo was beefed up to cool better for off roading and towing. Not sure if it will last as long as the V6, but the Frontier still has a V6!
@counterfeitcowboy13628 ай бұрын
That is good to know. I have 1100 on mine now and it does seem to be doing better. I hope I can get into the 20s because 280 miles on a tank is crazy😂 I was really disappointed when they made the gas tank smaller tho. I thought the tank was too small on my 22! And that’s interesting that you say normal gets better mpg. I felt like the eco mode made the gas pedal way too laggy and I felt like I just ended up getting after it more. The powertrain is money! And you’re right, it really doesn’t sound that bad. Listening to the audio on my towing video that I just posted, it actually sounds decent!

That range reading is highly inaccurate. The computer will average your tank range by averaging your lifetime mpgs. But if you reset it will reset everything and start all over again. Also driving up the mountain will always kill the mpg. Tfl has averaged as high as 26 on their 110 mile loop

My 4Runner gets 12-14 against the wind. Good day 16-17. My 4.0 tacoma is lucky to see 15mpg. The biggest savings you will see is in town. They were stupid to put a smaller gas tank in it though!

Wow, I’m surprised it’s that low! My 2018 TRD Off Road V6 does 25+ mpg on the highway. Worst case is short trips on cold winter days (when the engine never gets a chance to warm up)… those types of trips probably average 17-18 mpg. Overall I’m usually 22-24 mpg when I fill up. I don’t baby it, but don’t really get on it much either. I can’t believe that 4 cylinder doesn’t get better mpg than the V6. I guess another reason to keep my 3rd gen as long as possible.

@counterfeitcowboy13629 ай бұрын
That’s awesome! I can’t stand the eco mode. It makes the Gas pedal feel super numb. Might be worth it tho if you’re getting that kind of mileage. I still haven’t washed my truck because of that grille shutter thing. I know it’s probably fine but I don’t want to test it😂 a lot of the comments on my video about that said to use dielectric grease or rubber tape. Apparently electrical tape isn’t waterproof 🤷🏽♂️

I've had four vehicles with computer estimated fuel economy readouts. I also keep a fuel log on my cars and do my own calculations at each fuel up. All four of these cars averaged anywhere from 1.5 mpg to 2.5 mpg optimistic relative to "my" fuel economy calculations. I'm talking a Honda, a Toyota, a Ford, and a Subaru. They've all been the same. Go figure.

Remember everybody the church of global warming which is the most powerful and fastest growing religion in the world has forced upon everyone these tyrannical dictates and these car manufacturers are simply trying to survive in this horrific world that they have created. Turbo engines are not better than naturally aspirated engines. The reason they’re having to go to these engines is because of emissions. It is that simple. A turbo will put out half the emissions that a V6 NA motor will. The problem is once you go to these tiny engines the turbos are always spinning and they use way more gas than an NA engine will which means there is no improvement. Just like the tundra grab a V6 Tacoma while you still can.
