Couldn't agree more with Scott. Your reviews and tutorials are by far the comprehensive and understandable out there. I'm not sure why you don't have a gazillion subscribers and views. I hope you'll keep them coming and I have been spreading the word!!

Totally agree - I’m a huge fan of SOC - really helps me focus on the mixing and not on “what plugin should I use” - so versatile.

Also interesting how you can insert not only other Waves plugins but additional iterations of the Omni channel's own modules as a choice.

I bought this when it came out. Having purchased too many plugs before and since...you can do everything with this strip if anyone is interested. Even master buss duties. Cheers

Agreed. Even after all this time I've yet to see another with a sidechain EQ....it's brilliant and can be had for less than the cost of a lunch. I really like a few other strips for certain applications but this is a deserted island plugin for certain. Regards.

I’ve got it but never really got into using it, just realising now that I wasn’t even remotely using it to its full potential, I can’t remember what put me off but I think I wasn’t getting the results I was looking for, and I think it was me not using it to its full potential, think I may need to revisit it and spend more time learning how to use it properly, coming from „live“ work primarily the only channel strip that gave me instantly a result that I expected, apart from the compressor is the Focusrite SC, also remember that I never liked SSL desks because of the EQ, I had nearly always worked on Midas or Soundcraft (older models only) for live work and I found the EQ on both Midas and (older) Soundcraft desks was eminently more musical, unfortunately in my partial working time in studios I think I only ever once mixed on a Neve, Martin Rushent‘s Genetic Studio, could be wrong about that though while that was in the early 80‘s.

Hello, Mike. I came across your channel recently, and I can't tell you how happy that I have. Your videos are a model of clarity. One question for you. I have the Schep's Omni Channel. What do you think the weakest parts of this plugin are? What would you supplement this with? Specifically from Plugin Alliance and all of the brands under their umbrella. I picked up the Maag EQ4. I can pick up one more plugin during their Black Friday sale. I am torn between the Focusrite console, Lindell 80, Townhouse, or the Digital V3? Is there something outside of those choices you would pick up instead? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Hopefully, you see this soon.
@mixingwithmike3 жыл бұрын
Cheers! Lindell 80 is my favorite of the one's you have listed. But it really depends on what you need most. I love the Digital V3 for mastering and the Townhouse for mix buss compression. The FocusRite is very good to but I'm not a fan of the compressor in the channelstrip. It's too clean, the hardware was the same way.

I found that when I inserted a plugin, like the CLA 76, any tweaks were NOT remembered and recalled when I reopened the session, in spite of saving as preset or a global session save. Anyone else experience this? It is horrible to have to try and go to every track and reset the insert settings (or to have to save each individual tweak as a new preset).

Hi Michael just want to get your opinion. I have my old mbox 3 pro and I'm looking for a better interface. The ones I'm looking at is the Apollo 8 new black face one, Lynx Aroura the new blue face, motu 828es, and the Antelope Orion studio rev 2017. Now here is the deal I'm really not worried about the plugins that come with the Apollo or antelope Orion studio rev 2017. I want to know which interface has the best sound going in recording and best sound coming out when mixing. They all have the right ins/outs for my outboard gear and digital mixer. Just want to get your opinion on this. Thanks bro! Basically which one has the better converters inside.

Hey Mike, you and your videos are amazing. Question: would you use Omni channel with NLS for console emulation or is it over kill, possible bad colouring. If yes, would you add NLS into Omni channel slot or put at the end for the DAW channel strip? Tx,
@PigletPorch2 жыл бұрын
I'd suggest putting it standard at the end of the channel strip so it definitely interacts correctly with the bus plugin you put on buses or the mix bus, definitely check the manual of it as well for the options in positioning it early or later in the plugin chain
@FRANKRICECOLD2096 жыл бұрын
This Plugin Would Be Even Better if in the Section Were you Can add You own Plugin it Has a volume Fader or a Mix Knob For Parallel Compression in the Plugin it Self
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
Yes, would have been a good addition.
@nuurnwui6 жыл бұрын
Would you agree that this is catered towards a versatile modern sound, say in contrast to Waves' SSL emu? Does this add analogue console-like sound? I don't hear that really. Perhaps a tiny little bit.
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
Definitely adds analog console sound with the preamp section and compressor eq options. Not as distinctive as a Neve or SSL desk but definitely has a sound.
@aarona.dubzperson82455 жыл бұрын
The preamp is kind of weak. I'm going to get the Masserati VX1 to use as my preamp on this chain. That or the JJP.

Notice you used the same song when demoing the bx consoles; could you please explain which channel strips would you find most suitable for particular purposes and why? If you had to pick just one...?!
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
That subject is worth a whole video on its own. My best suggestion would be to select the primary tracks of a mix (Bass, Kick, Sn, Hat, Main Guitars or Keys and the Lead Vocal) and set up a quick mix using each channel strip type. One of them will just stand out as the best one for that song.
@markdineen34306 жыл бұрын
You kinda did that with the bx consoles in the other video, and I've lusted after those for a while. Now that I've picked up the omni channel just wondering if there's much I'd actually need them for at this point -- margin of difference, considering price (rather than just wanting them!). Thanks for the response and the always informative videos!

Thanks for this review Mike. I have the Omni Channel, but really haven't used it, I've only been able to play around with it. But I really like it so far. It's pretty rich feature wise. So I'm wondering if you have any thoughts on how this compares to bx_console E Channel. I'm thinking about getting it as well. I don't want too many channel strips if they are too alike. But if they differ enough sound wise from one another, I would add it to my tool chest. The 72 distinctive channels in the brainworx product is kind of attractive. There's some other cool features as well. (Which I learned from your review on it!) Any other thoughts on how each one fits, or what one has that the other does not? I think I want some type of SSL E channel, and the bx_console E seems like it may be the one. I'm only wondering how it compares with what I already have. Thanks!
@mixingwithmike6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, I love both and they are very different from each other. To me, the Omni Channel is more of hybrid Neve console on the EQ side and a mix of SSL, LA2A, 1176 on the compressor side. I like the flexibility of the modules and the built in De-Esser which the bx_E does not have. Also think the Saturation is much more flexible on the Omni Channel. That said, I love the TMT on the bx_E.
@chrissullivan16736 жыл бұрын
Thanks Michael. I purchased the bx Channel E a little bit ago, before seeing your reply. I did do a little more looking into each, and noticed not only the feature differences, but learned of some of those nuances. I was not aware of the Neve influence in the Omni Channel, or how it differs in terms of saturation. I've yet to learn about TMT, only know it exists, and as to how it will benefit me. I think I am happy with having both now. Your input surely solidifies that for me, and helps me understand what I have in each of them. Thanks again! I really appreciate your videos, too!
