MQ Quick Hits Ep. 17 - Trips Checks

What we always toss around at my school is how to call the trips checks. We have made rules based on splits of 1/2 or 2/3, based on formation, or based on a particular offensive threat. We have also tagged our call such as sky alert stress or sky alert special. Any other ideas you have used? Or do you have certain rules? We sometimes struggle with how to give change ups and not be predictable without making crazy wordy calls

We check off alignment or back placement per game plan, so we don't have to worry about multiple calls.

Can u explain responsibilities of BS, W, and Boundary Corner to 2 receiver side in Sky coverage w/ post/wheel combo?

If we are playing SKY to the boundary we are playing "Rail it!" meaning it will play like a pure ZN. Versus Post/Wheel, the CB will take the Wheel, the hash Safety (BS) will collect the Post, and the Will work off the Wheel pushing until the CB caps.

@@EvanRothfeld-f6u Sam technically should carry it. If the switch happens early (Rub Wheel) the CB & Saf should be able to Rail it!

Back away = Sky, Back ton= Cloud unless he isn't a receiving threat

The Sam is reading #2 to #1 right? My question is if #1 and #2 go vertical while #3 pushes to the flat, Mike triggers on #3 right? I've been having my SAM read #1 as he catches #2. If #1 does not sit or go under I tell him to carry #2. I just think it would be difficult for him to see #3. I know if I get a lot of #3 out, check to special, but I just want to make sure I'm giving the right assignment to the mike. In poach and special he doesn't have to take #3 to the flat; however, in stress he does right? Thank you for any help! Been eating up your content for months now.

Key #3 for a quick push then match #2. Sam can come off late once #3 crosses his vision because the Safety should be working to cap.

Who takes 3 to the flat in stress if 2 is vertical ?

Same as in Qtrs, the Sam pushes & the safety works to the vertical of #2
