@@brianb6024 - The Osbournes? The funny thing about Ozzy is that while most of his brain has been completely destroyed by drugs and alcohol and loud music, what's left is just a kernal of common sense. I think it was episode 2 of The Osbournes when Kelly (about 15 at the time) decided she wanted a tattoo. So she asked mum "mum, can I get a tattoo?", and Sharon went completely ballistic! So she thought, I know, I'll ask dad, he's covered in tattoos, he can't say no because that would be hypocrisy. So she asks Ozzy "dad, can I get a tattoo?" and Ozzy says "what do you want a f-ing tattoo for?", and Kelly says "to be different", so Ozzy says "well, if you want to be different, why don't you be really different and don't have a f-ing tattoo?"

@davemac1197
@davemac1197 2 жыл бұрын
@@reallymysterious4520 - ha! A lot to unpack here - I am familiar with Frasier (Cheers is my all-time fave sitcom), but not enough to be familiar with Simon, so KZbin to the rescue. Sounds like someone having a go at a Cockney (East End of London) accent. Computer says the actor is Australian Anthony LaPaglia, who despite the Moon family supposedly coming from Manchester, opted for a Cockey accent, which is not a million miles from an Australian accent. Wiki describes his "mockney" accent as "excrutiating." Jane Leeve's Manc accent is exaggerated but I think it's authentic, but what do I know - I'm a southerner from Bedfordshire! I find most British characters on American TV and film to be excrutiating. Ozzy is pure Brummie, born and bred, and it's the most miserable depressing accent in the country. Cockney's are cheeky chappies, like Simon. It might be the humour that cuts across, I don't know...

While Ozzy was officially a solo-artist, his guitarists (in this case Randy Rhoads) and other musicians wrote a lot of the music on the albums. Which is why each album, while somewhat directed by Ozzy, has its own unique sound. Other than Mr. Crowley my favourite Ozzy song is Thunder Underground from Ozzmosis, if you want to give that a listen...
@Mike-rk8px

This was filmed for a tv show called “After Hours” on April 24, 1981 at a tv studio in Rochester, New York. So, yes Larry, Ozzy was more calm without an audience to have to perform to, but he was also totally sober for this. They didn’t actually play this song slower than the version on the album, it was just recorded on VHS tape at the wrong speed. You can also watch them perform “Crazy Train” “I Don’t Know” and “Suicide Solution” from the same show as this, it’s all on KZbin. Randy was killed in a plane crash on March 19, 1982. In Ozzy’s autobiography “I Am Ozzy” and Sharon Osbourne’s autobiography they both tell about the plane crash and what they went through. Randy was only 25. You guys also should watch the dvd “God Bless Ozzy Osbourne”, which tells his life story, it’s really excellent.

Man oh man! That guitar solo was spectacular! Randy was the man...it's so sad that his life was cut short by such a reckless stunt. Imagine the music he would have produced if he was still alive today. RIP Randy. Ozzy was in great shape vocally back then and the rhythm section was rock solid too...this recording was excellent to behold. I have never seen Ozzy live and have heard very few live tracks so whatever live reactions you'd do would be greatly appreciated. My suggestion this time is for Pat Benatar from her earlier days as a rock artist before the record industry coerced her to go in a more poppy direction...here is Heartbreaker (kzbin.info/www/bejne/o3rSpHuEpaydiqc). Gotta say dad, you're raising this boy right. That "hired gun" comment was very astute. Rhoads was to finish this tour and then go back to UCLA to get his Masters in music. Can you imagine? What more would he have brought to the world? Is it just me, or was that little "flourish" at the end a dig at Eddie Van Halen? Rhoads walked to the back of the stage, turned his back to the camera and played a flawless EVH tapping lick. I know they were "rivals" in a way, but after destroying those solos? Yeah....... I'd "mouth off" a bit too.

@@cherylreichardt - you would love the house one of my schoolfriends lived in. His family owned the manor house in Churchdown village (between Cheltenham and Gloucester). It dates back to the 16th century at least - oak timber frames and low beams. During the Civil War (1640s) an important prisoner was kept there and he carved his initials into a window sill, and I was told the vegetable garden behind the kitchen was the place the first potato in England was planted - imported from the New World by Sir Walter Raleigh. I wouldn't be surprised if a bit of heavy rock has been played there a few times. I don't know why Americans always call us creepy, scary, or vampires - you're just too easy to wind up!

Randy was intended to be a permanent member, but, his sad untimely demise prevented that. Also, this performance was toned down a bit because it was performed for a morning TV show. There are a couple more songs filmed for this show out there. On a side note, the ending part, Tommy Aldridge, the drummer, decided to improvise, and Randy, Bob (Daisley), the keyboardist, and Rudy Sarzo, the bassist just followed along.
