Both this and the last one are very minor, but I still think they're worth mentioning, especially the second since other episodes show SpongeBob working the evening and night shifts, implying he took SpongeBob off work just so he could chaperone his daughter (though this is a very weak argument. frankly, i just hate how little there are of his season 1-3 moments). -[Texas (S1)] Allows and hosts Sandy's Texas party at the Krusty Krab and doesn't seem to care at all when half his establishment is destroyed as a result. -[To SquarePants or Not To SquarePants (S6)] Immediately solves SpongeBob's dumb problem. -[Dying for Pie (S2)] Genuinely depressed at the thought of SpongeBob exploding and gives both he and Squidward the rest of the day off to make his final day his best day. -[Welcome to the Chum Bucket (S2)] Genuinely depressed and regretful of the fact that he got too cocky and bet SpongeBob in a bet with Plankton. He only did it because he thought he was gonna win (traditional gambling mistake) and by doing so he let Plankton play him like a fiddle. -[Krusty Love (S2)] Falls deeply in love with Mrs. Puff and wants to give her his everything (though SpongeBob gets caught in the crossfire of this internal conflict between his love of money and his love of Mrs. Puff, this is inadvertent, he shows a degree of empathy, and although still inconsiderate the full context doesn't make this a bad act. people do stupid things when in love and some of you people need to be less biased and grow a pair instead of hating on anything that inconveniences the main character, no offense) -[Sailor Mouth (S2)] Teaches SpongeBob and Patrick to be more polite about the way they speak, and that some language is foul and should not be normalized or inserted into every day speech (a lesson lots of people, myself included, desperately need ngl might make a video on this one, ill keep note of it). -[My Pretty Seahorse (S3)] Teaches SpongeBob that Mystery is a wild animal and should be set free. -[As Seen on TV (S3)] Indulges SpongeBob's lunacy throughout the episode, understanding his idiosyncrasies and knowing full well he'll get over the phase soon. -[Squilliam Returns (S3)] Allows Squidward to pretend to own the Krusty Krab for a night so he can look good in front of his old rival (beyond considerate when remembering there was no mention of money at all, and the demeanor during the agreement implies he perfectly understood Squidward's reasoning and wanted to support him) -[Yours Mine and Mine (S7)] Scolds SpongeBob and Patrick for letting a dumb toy ruin their friendship and goes as far to give them both the same toy to help their troubles. i could go on with this list, and frankly i might when im less lazy, but i think this entire comment can be summarized by a certain iconic quote "Your honor, we find the defendant not guilty ...but he is cheap."
@AzureMoebius222 ай бұрын
Here's another, albeit minor, one. In "Selling Out", after he sees how new management is running his restaurant, Krabs makes it _abundantly_ clear that he's not ok with how it's being done (and it seems to be the new cheap-ass synthetic patties that ires him the most) and proceeds to raise hell. He may be cheap, but it's clear he (usually) cares about the quality of his service and products.

I can’t entirely blame Mr. Krabs in the Born Again Krabs episode (aside from selling SpongeBob’s soul but we don’t talk about that) the one he actually acts generous and stops charging people money he goes bankrupt, that was kind of unfair. Mr. Krabs was originally such a well-written multi-dimensional character. Yes, he did prioritize his business, but he also cared deeply about Spongebob and Squidward, and acted as a suitable mentor figure for them, and even for Patrick at times. Remember when Mr Krabs is the one to teach SpongeBob and Patrick about bad words and why we shouldn't say them? Then when they mess up later, who do they report to? Mr Krabs. They had such strong trust in him as a mentor figure that they allowed him to help keep each other accountable. Even if their intentions for telling on each other may have been more sinister, the trust was still there. In addition, remember when Mr Krabs awarded SpongeBob and Squidward with a fishing trip vacation for their hard work in building and maintaining his business? Even if Squidward wasn't thrilled about it, this was still Mr Krabs' way of genuinely thanking his employees. And fishing trips can be expensive, so one can't say that Krabs only chose that above all other options simply to save money. Fishing was a passion for him, and he wanted to share it with his employees. Mr Krabs wasn't a perfect boss, and SpongeBob knew that. Does anyone here remember all the times when Spongebob was absolutely done with his crap at times to the point of even yelling at him? People will know what scenes I'm talking about when I mention the episodes "Arrgh", "Krusty Love" and "Can you Spare a Dime". I physically cannot imagine Spongebob and Mr Krabs having another interaction like that in modern episodes, especially given how different they both are compared to their classic depictions. Lastly, I'll mention what I feel is the best Mr Krabs focused episode: "mid-life crustacean". Nowhere in this episode does Mr Krabs ever mention money. We see a side of him that we see nowhere else: his desire to feel young again and return to what he considers the good old days. For once, he's even allowing Spongebob and Patrick to switch roles with him, where now they are mentoring and leading him while he learns from them (or at least tries to). And he even admits that they succeeded at helping him "feel it" towards the end of their "night of debauchery". I consider Nickelodeon removing this episode from air and all streaming services a major crime; I don't care if the episode featured a panty raid scene. They chose to have a problem with that after decades of airing it, and thus completely removed this opportunity to see this human side (or crab side, I guess; hopefully you get what I mean) of Mr Krabs as never seen anywhere else. And yet we're stuck with his modern depictions where he couldn't care less about anything not related to money. Okay end of rant. I like Mr Krabs. Nickelodeon did him dirty. Enough said.

Squeaky Boots is probably the best example of this because yes, while Mr. Krabs is initially too cheap to buy Pearl what she wanted, she gets it in the end while they go on vacation. It's also the only time where he actually pays SpongeBob a reasonable salary. Another example I'd bring to light is in Have You Seen This Snail. SpongeBob is crying over Gary and while originally upset that he's messing up orders from crying, he tries his best to console him slightly, even if it's for his personal gain. However, if it wasn't for his words, it wouldn't have been the motivation SpongeBob needed to try and look for Gary with Patrick so extensively.

It shows while Mr Krabs may not be the best boss, he can sometimes be a father figure to SpongeBob and Squidward. He is at least a decent father because he will do anything for Pearl. He does try to be a good boyfriend to Mrs Puff unlike Plankton who’s a horrible husband to Karen and cares more about the secret formula than her. He was a neglectful father to Chip. Plankton is only nice if he gets his way. Like in Welcome To The Chum Bucket he was only nice just so SpongeBob just so he will make him a Krabby Patty and in Single Cell Anniversary he didn’t give a shit about there wedding anniversary and only agreed to give Karen a wedding gift just because she was going to show him the secret formula. Even in the movie Sponge Out Of Water he only helped SpongeBob and the others stop Burger Bread just to save the secret formula. I do agree Mr Krabs did have a little flanderization in seasons 6-8. There are worse like Mr Potter, Mr Burns, Carter Pewterschmidt, and Pacifica Northwest parents. Saying that Mr Krabs doesn’t get karma is a lie because he has.

true but not out of malice, rather out of an addict's tendencies because he regretted it, was heavily distraught, and threw the money away immediately afterward despite that essentially and technically being his only cash after bankruptcy.

@@blazingsummit completely true, i'm just pointing out the fact that his intentions count in this context + the leeway of him being a cartoon character water the situation down highly because the fact of the matter is he did not do it out of malice, not to mention it was a rare occurrence for him to do something that atrocious to spongebob.

Mr. Krabs, like any character from a show that’s run as long as SpongeBob has, has his ups and downs. When the writers are always trying to top this moment or over exaggerate that, it’s easy to forget the good a character has to them. Man can be a real greedy jerk and has plenty of bad moments, but he is also a good guy with a heart of gold. Though… maybe best not to tell him that last part. He’d probably sell his heart to make a profit.

@@michaelwatson-m20 eh, you do you. but in my defense i am interested in anything and everything spongebob related and can fully disprove each and every single one of his theories aside from the aforementioned stolen ones. although the comments are difficult to find, i've gone through almost all his videos debunking each and every single point of his and explaining in full detail why he's wrong. bottomline, i REALLY hate his videos and how they spread severe misinformation on the series thanks to people who believe these half-baked 'theories' without question. he doesn't even know that there's canonically 0 meat inside a krabby patty and that it's a vegan plant-based sandwich according to hillenburg himself, which is a testament to his ignorance on the series in its entirety. not to mention the absurdity of the neptune theory because there's no lore behind it at all, it's a result of copyright issues with viacom/paramount and its subsidiaries (too lazy to go in depth). most of what he says is made up, irrationally inferred, and contradicted by the slightest bit of background trivia on the series. nevertheless, iryo and hope you have a nice day.
