I love how it seems like performing spells almost physically hurts john. There’s always a cost to magic and since John isn’t from an extremely powerful line, like Zatara and Zatanna it takes a lot out of him to cast spells. Magic in DC to me is much more interesting than in Marvel. I love how dark they get with it and John Constantine is the face of magic in dc to me. His stories get incredibly dark and I love it.

@@donpula6349 yeah I believe his family’s main power was their ability to ride the “synchronicity wave” of luck and fate, where it pretty much just means that John has the best luck in the whole universe and always will seem to be in the right place at the right time and can literally harness the power of deus ex machina. However, to do so comes at an extreme price, if John has the best luck in the universe then everyone around him will have the shittiest luck in the world. It’s the reason why pretty much everyone that he cares about ends up gruesomely dying or some other tragic fate like Chaz here, and why John is so cynical and reluctant to be friends with people most of the time. Cursed with great power that comes with an absolute cost.
