You care for the most beautiful birds I have ever seen in one place, and they look so healthy and so happy. Thanks for a very informative video and the water fall feature looks great, and thanks for being so loving toward our avian friends. Life would be dull and dreary (and maybe not at all), without them.

5:18 I like how the quail dragged her foot in the water over the waterfall lol. They are so lucky to have you! I have 2 more ideas to make maintenance easier. 1 is to dig a bigger basin area in the front of the other basin. Put a much bigger tub in & attach for a larger reservoir so you don’t have to fill it every day. The other is to put the hatch door so it opens where the door lays down so you can see what you’re doing better when you remove the smaller basin. I could do never what you have done. You have creative artistic talent! That waterfall is so natural looking. I hope to just buy a small fountain I can put in with my quail. They’re in a natural setting in a parrot cage in my living room. There are lots of windows & outside birds they can watch & the setting sun fills their home with warmth in the afternoon. By the way, I saw your cuttle bone video. That is awesome you can collect it like that! The stores are out around here but I have some a bag of oyster shell grit I got for my chickens so I think I’ll add a bowl for them. Thank you for the reminder that they need calcium! 👍👍

Thank you so much, my motto is just to try it. Most of the times you have more talent than you think. And if it didn't succeed the first try just try it again. I hope you can make an awesome cage for your birds. That is one thing I would indeed change the size of the basin, good call. Unfortunately, I was limited to the size of the aviary and I still have to be able to lift it out.

Mr. Aviary yes but they are so healthy & happy from all you do for them 😊 Do you have to bring them inside during the winter? Mine don’t like to be held & it’s hard to catch them so I just let them stay in the house. Mine are fine but they would love to have an inside/outside enclose ideally.
@MrAviary
@MrAviary 4 жыл бұрын
@@kit2130 Yes, I bring them in during the winter. Last winter was so mild I let one couple outside but most of the time it is too cold and wet for them. It is indeed stressful so I try to do it as quickly as possible. 5 min stress compared to 3 months of cold, I choose the stress :P

Thanks, still only the owl finches and the quails are breeding. The rest is molding or doing nothing. Do you have some tips to get the cordon bleus to breed?
@colesbackyardcoop
@colesbackyardcoop 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrAviary Hello. I found that Cordon Bleus are not easy to breed like owl finches. It took them time but I had success with mine by putting them in a cage like you have inside your winter breeding room. I found that mine liked less space than the aviary, more private setting and I used a large woven closed basket with a single hole entry. For nesting material, I used cut coco fiber and dried grasses. Feed them egg food and mealworms as you are doing. Does he dance for her or observed any mating?
@MrAviary
@MrAviary 4 жыл бұрын
He is doing his little dance with a piece of coco fiber in his mouth. I will look for a woven closed basket. If they don't breed it is fine, I already love them inside the aviary. Maybe next year in the bird gallery.
@colesbackyardcoop

@@MrAviary That is great and a good sign he is courting her. It will take some time but the woven nest basket should help. They are beautiful birds and look so nice in the aviary.

The pomp is just sitting in the waterbasin and the hose is running underneath the waterfall and back up at the end. That's why I made a groove underneath to tuck the hose in. It's not more than that.
