I like as well the one where some dude was in the forest and he can hear movement but can’t see far and when he woke up mid night he saw his flashlight laying in the distance and when he gets out of there someone wrote on his car window “sleep well” but nah scariest would be the dad and son going hunting and there’s nothing and at night there’s someone outside there tent laughing and ran off

A poignant part of that story for me is when the tapping was occuring the young man said he could feel his dad telling him "just stay right there son. Don't let it in just stay in bed and ihnore it. Don't let it in". I also remember reading that he stayed for the rest of the week and the rest of his time was uneventful. Kid was a great story telling.

It's true, dogs have super senses. I'm retired, but I used to work late then come home to a house with everyone already in bed. I would read or write and unwind awhile before turning in around 1 a.m. or so. We had a Miniature Schnauzer at the time, weighing 30 pounds. He was a good watch dog. One night, after I had come home, he jumped off the recliner where he slept and began barking in a ferocious way that I hadn't heard before. He pointed his nose at the corner of the room. I turned off the lamp and looked out the window. A man was standing well up in the driveway. A big man silhouetted against the snow. He was looking up the driveway toward the garage behind our house. I knew what he wanted---a gas generator I had chained to the freestanding basketball goal. An ice storm had downed our power for the past week, and I had borrowed the generator from my brother-in-law. But the man in the driveway was too late; I had returned it after the power came back on. After my initial surprise, I looked again but the guy had gone. My dog had saved the day. I mean night.

Hi Mr Ballen. I just felt like I should share something with you my name is Esther. I listen to you at work and was listening to some of the stories where people go missing. One of the things I remember my father who was an exorcist, saying is demons live in abandoned places like cabins, empty hotel rooms, houses etc. Remember spirits need warm bodies to dwell in. That could be why people go missing a lot or just lose their minds. Just thought I’d share that with you. For the haters reading this mind your business.

Depends where the city is? America? Absolutely. And yes, it is a primal fear. It's called " fear of the unknown". To quote the great HP Lovecraft, " the oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is *fear*. And the oldest and strongest kind of fear is *fear of the unknown*." This is why we are afraid of the dark. We don't know what out there. This is why disembodied noises are scary - we don't know it's origin. And what you don't know, your head fills in the blanks.
@HoseTheBeast
@HoseTheBeast 4 ай бұрын
@@captainp.2721 No😂 the primal fear of the dark is because of nocturnal predators. We have been afraid of the dark because WE HAVE known what is out there… Today though humans are the apex predator even to other humans and fear of the dark(for a possible predator) is statistically foolish considering you are infinitely more likely to be killed by another human.

Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if someone saw the family selling the cabin (maybe a neighbor who liked the property and went to it secretly when no one was there) and decided when they saw that one of the family members was there, that if they scared the heck out of them, maybe they would be more frantic to sell the place and the person might get a deal. Due to the stress and paranoia caused earlier, as well as the darkness, the teen probably saw more than was there.

Seriously? That's a helluva stretch there's so many variables that don't make sense with that, how would this person know the person in the cabin was part of the sale or that they wouldn't just get shot for a chance at the possibility of swaying the sale that they would have to know about to begin with I mean that's some tv nonsense scheme type planning

And when it gets to the part of the boy shining the flash light onto the “tall man” in the tree, mouth open and all, i stg I said “F*CK THAT!” So loud my fiancé bolted awake and asked what’s wrong, what’s happned!!?? 😂 This is one, if not THE, top scariest Mr Ballen stories. And I’m so mean, I sent the link to my mom who lives waaaaay out in the country on dirt roads surrounded by wilderness alone, with her dogs at night and told her “hey, listen to this crazy story!” She was not amused and said she had her gun on the bed table next to her that night lol

Okay so here is my story: My parents have a little nice house located inside the campus perimeter of University of Lousiville. The house was Build in 1925… in the second floor/ attic there’s 2 big rooms separated in the middle by a closet and a half bathroom. I stay on the room looking to the front of the house and usually open both of the middle doors (the closet and the bathroom) that get to touch each other so it block the light coming from the first room where the stairs are but block my visibility. I sleep with my head facing in the oposite direction of the 2 open doors so I can look down if Someone in the house walk in to my room. The thing is I been laying in bed in several occasions and I car hear footsteps coming up stair walking thru the first room and I be thinking that’s my mom coming to check on me and bring me coffee… but the steps just stop right before the 2 doors and no one walk into my room… I asked my mom if she just came upstairs and she be always been doing something else Either working on her lil garden or cooking on the Kitchen. At first that used to freak me out fr cuz I could hear other noises in the other but didn’t see nobody when I went check. It’s been like 7-8 years and whatever it is still walks around but since it don’t mess with me I just got used to it. I got some really bad sleep paralysis last night and I swear I was screaming at loud as I could to wake myself out but nothing would come out my mouth like when Ure drugged out before a surgery… it was scary as hell.

Man, being in a cabin alone in the woods at night is sincerely my happy place. A tent or a hammock is pretty close, but yeah, cabins are warmer and comfier. Because genuinely, what is *the worst case scenario?* I carry a high-calibre revolver that can stop a grizzly when I camp and backpack, and have a professional working dog (my current one is only 50 pounds, but she can track, take down a human, and alert to an intruder or animal) who goes everywhere with me. I live in a rural area, my neighbourhood is in the woods; no street lamps. I used to go walking once a week or more every summer. I usually walked on the main road, which is a private dirt road. My fear was just coyotes (a FEDEX driver was actually attacked in my driveway a few years ago, but I didn't see it happen). One night I was walking, I made howling sound, and I heard a group of wolves or coyotes howling, and they sounded like 200 feet away in the woods, so I couldn't see them. Last year, I started walking on the service roads, and it's a little scarier, especially this one, where I get the creeps walking, where it has an absconded small house, with axe marks in the door. The last time I was down there, I drove down there early one morning, at like 4 or 5AM, it's rugged road, so you can't drive fast and there are very few spots to turn around. The last time I went down this road, I see taillights, of a car just ahead, maybe it's someone exploring or maybe it'sd a serial killer looking to see a dump scouting for a dump site, or a drug dealer, who knows? I also see some pricks of lights, which maybe it the the eyes of an animal, reflecting from my headlamps. I couldn't tell if they were close enough to be eyes, but I haven't been down there since.

I was out with a group of friends camping one night and we became absolutely certain we were being watched . Friend of ours went out there to pee and came running back just absolutely certain he had seen somebody. Well we all laughed about it until the next guy had to go pee and then he came slowly walking back backwards . He swore he could still see who had been watching him . None of the rest of us could see anything but he was absolutely sure someone was there . This pretty much went on all night . Next morning we all went home and that evening the two guys who were brothers were having dinner at home . They were just sitting there chatting with their parents and something came up and the younger brother Nate said something about him not being able to do something . His dad left and said maybe not but you sure can swear though .... It had been him out there making sure we weren't up to no good 🤣🤣🤣 We were very young and camping in the woods on our own .

We as humans fear the unknown. It could have been someone staying in the cabin while it was vacant, and wanted to scare the kid to get him to leave so the stranger can continue to live in peace in a cabin? He knew the layout of the house to tap everywhere. He could have had a method to climbing the tree, if he lived there while the family didn’t spend much time there.

I find it so creepy that he found footprints. Rarely to they see proof of the noise they hear in these stories. I was also screaming the entire time, "DON'T GO OUTSIDE"

I would love to see Llama arts make animations out of your stories. People should watch more woods and cabin horror movies because they're on point.

1. Family posted an announcement they sell the cabin meaning they are not living there. 2. Someone saw it and intended to use the cabin. Convicts for example. 3. There was a person on the roof who possibly wanted to find a way in in the night to get rid of the boy. 4. There was no creature in the tree. The boy is 17-year old and paranoid.

I remember a time with friends... New Year's Eve, deep in the forest, middle of the night, everyone drunk... we were all very scared... I think these are instincts/fears from the past. -> Darkness, forest, some unknown 😅😂

Just this week I drove to a national forest to shoot on the range. I got there when it was still dark. I heard a twig snap not too far from where I was. I HAD to hold my rifle for comfort. Being a combat veteran with 7 deployments, I was still freaked out by a twig.

Stories like this is why I carry my sig everytime I go in the woods because I know that cabin feeling especially in the bottom floor room…always freezing down there which it’s the game room but at night in the winter time I avoid it as much as possible. It has a very eerie feeling especially at night for sure.

I don’t know if you can technically call this a scary story, but it happened a few days ago. I recently went homeschool, but I don’t start for another week. So my siblings have been going to school while I stay home alone, since I can’t do any schoolwork yet. I was in my kitchen doing the dishes while listening to Mr. Ballen. I felt sort of uneasy the entire time, but didn’t do anything but lock the doors and put my dog and cat outside. I have another cat, but he’s an outside cat, so the bottom line is all of my pets are outside and my doors are locked. I finish doing the dishes, and go down the hallway to start cleaning the bathroom. I go back to the kitchen for the broom, but when I turn and see the direction of my room, (the door being open slightly) and I see a dark figure pass by as I pass by my room. I wasn’t even trying to see if there was something in my room, I just pass by and see a shadowy figure pass by as well. I open my bedroom door all the way and check the room, and there’s nothing there. I think, maybe I’m being paranoid. But then something else happens. I finish cleaning the house, and go to make something for lunch. I finish making it, and go back to my room to eat. Literally 5 minutes in to eating, I hear a cat meowing that seems like it’s coming from my living room. Like I said earlier, all of my pets are outside, and my doors are locked. I think, “I know I locked those doors. Maybe I let the cat in earlier?” I wait a few minutes, the meowing stops, and I wait a few more minutes. I eat the rest of my lunch, and go back to the kitchen to put my dish up. I put the dish up, and check all around my house to see if I let my cat in. I check everywhere, no cat. I check to see if my doors are locked, they’re locked. Then I open the front door to see if my cat (the one that meows like the meows I heard in the living room) is outside, and next thing you know the cat walks in the house from outside. So no pets were inside, the doors were locked. I’m not sure if this is a paranormal thing, but comment if it is or not.

Imagine the buyer of the cabin asking if there are any problems with the cabin and telling him No problems at all it's safe as can be. Human beings will do almost anything for money including selling a cabin with unknown entities coming to it

Well ....as a public notice do not look at nor search for it....the tapping noises is usually to grab your attention and your attention is a liability.. And yes this creature is screwing with him, waiting to have him step outside like a prey. The first noises is to comfrim the house is occupied

They can't come in unless invited. Ignoring the tapping was what saved his life. We used to get the same thing ehen I was around his age and camped with family in the mountain. There is no human on earth who can stand outside your door and knock from nightfall to sunrise. No human. It wants you to open the door. If you don't it can't hurt you.

Two great stories. I’m 50 years old and have a very similar experience from when I was 12! Very scary and will never forget it, mine was paranormal and it took place in Melbourne Australia over a couple of months until we moved and the house was demolished
