So, I love your show! There is a reason why they put air in the bags of cereal, chips/crisps, etc., because of changes in altitudes, changes in air pressures, etc., and when transporting them, the bags will explode without air. I can’t be the first. The cereal is sold by weight. The packaging allows a bubble of air to allow cushioning and lessen crushing. Just cracking an egg without separating gets yolk/whites on my fingers and is so irritating that I can't crack a bunch of eggs without washing my hands in between. When I was younger, separating by hand was the only method I was taught. But the feeling of slimy eggs made my skin crawl and I would drop the egg, and not always in a bowl.

Hey Barry I think you got a bit of something on the camera lens and now I can't unsee it. 5:15 you can see it near the right edge of the yellow cutting board and then track it before and after. For the salt and pepper containers I would judge: Does the product come out if the container is completely inverted? How much product comes out per a shake? (I don't know how sensitive the scales you have available are but for me I don't want to have to shake forever to get pepper or salt.) If a pepper container contains a grinder is it adjustable and to what range? What is the output of the grinder? How easy are these containers to fill?

That tea pot is adorable. I love it when novelty kitsch serves an actual purpose. Best test for the salt & pepper pots: Old school pharmacist's balance scale. That's if you're going for the numbers. For real-world use, it's mashed potatoes, buttered up in the pan, use an ice cream scoop to plate up 2 identical portions, each portion gets 5 shakes of salt, 5 of pepper. Grading scale is bland/wondering if the pots were filled | perfectly seasoned | unbearably salty/peppery. Burger King sells millions of omelet patties on their breakfast sandwiches every day. Sorry, mate. The one thing I don't like about burger presses is they tend to make the burger too dense, making it a tougher chew. Now, if I had a burger press specifically designed to seal up a stuffed burger, like what they use at Matt's Bar (home of the Juicy Luicy), I'd be a very happy man. For the crunch cup, that's easy. Outer chamber is strawberry & grape Nerds, inner chamber is mini M&Ms...or possibly Sixlets.
@orientalmoons8 ай бұрын
Testing salt and pepper mills: I would want to know how easily they grind, how many turns you have to do to get the amount you want, and whether the ground up bits are the right size with no big bits sneaking out. You could get some scales which measure very small amounts, such as might be used with chemicals (for, um, chemistry experiments and of course not for anything illegal) and see what weight you get out with five turns. If you had a suitable fine sieve you could use that to test whether any too big bits come out. Oh and you could test them for leakiness by just shaking them over a piece of paper and seeing what comes out.

I know you hate tea, Barry, but just once, try the tea with a splash of milk and a spoonful of sugar. Stir very well. You might be surprised. Black tea is great, don't get me wrong, but it's usually too bitter for some people to cope with. The milk takes that edge off. I drink about six cups of various loose leaf teas every day - really good tea has big leaves that are rolled, and the flavour is extraordinarily good. I drink coffee about twice a month. It always smells far better than it tastes - and I include that coffee that has been through a Civet cat, and is the most expensive you can get. Tried it once - smelled wonderful. Tasted - of coffee.
@Silentgrace118 ай бұрын
Coffee, much like tea, has various different flavor profiles and ingredients they pair well with 😉 As you explore more coffee and what makes it taste “good” for you, you start to figure out the why and how to achieve that flavor you enjoy. I think, until you find a way that you like, it inevitably tastes like leaf juice or bean juice. That being said, it’s all on taste preference at the end of the day. I’m more of a coffee person than a tea person personally, but honestly both are a fabulous part of the day.
@cheshkat63218 ай бұрын
@@Silentgrace11Yes. So many ways to make coffee and tea that I like both. Different blends of tea, especially in loose leaf, to explore. I grew up knowing only black tea with a lot of sugar and ice. But as an adult I discovered a coffee and tea shop that I loved making new flavor discoveries. I don't suppose those shops are too common these days. But I never tire of the nearly infinite flavor combinations of tea. Some can be grown in the garden like mint, chamomile, fever few, raspberry leaves, etc. I grew mint for my late husband because I didn't like mint. But fresh mint tastes better than anything store bought with mint so I became a fan of it in tea.

@@cheshkat6321- What a lovely reply. If I were given the choice of tea or coffee, I'd always go for tea. It refreshes, and is a good thirst quencher, unlike coffee. I generally drink single origin teas, like Darjeeling, Ceylon, Kenya, Assam, Yunnan Green - but I do like Mint tea, Earl Grey, and, possibly my favourite, Chai. Just Chai, not 'Chai tea' as I have heard people ordering - 'Chai' is the Indian word for tea. Are some salt shakers better for coarse salt like kosher or flake salt? I find it a minor pain to have to take it from a bag or jar and would much rather have a separate shaker for each kind. I’ve also noticed that ground pepper seems to be coarser than when I was younger. Maybe it’s just the brand I use. Salt and pepper shakers all seemed to have uniform sized holes but these days there’s some variation. How about using shakers for other spices? Cinnamon and “pumpkin spice” get a lot of use in the holidays- is dedicating a shaker for them a good idea?

Great video! For the salt and pepper video, you could rate or grade them according to several functionality points. Without having seen the salt/pepper containers you could compare or rate: functionality, practicality, price, size, shape (comfort/ease of holding), appearance, and if they grind salt and pepper - are there different degrees of grinding to get fine, extra fine, coarse settings, how much space they take up, physical aesthetic or appearance, , how much salt/pepper do they hold (do you have to refill often or not often).

Egg separator looked pretty decent compared to the spoon type that rests on a cup with a handle that can get flipped by accident. Burger press probably needs a disc of greaseproof paper to line the lid. Egg rings have existed for a very long time, great for making a fried egg to fit in a roll with bacon and lorne sausage Tilt on the cup thing looked too much to be comfortable and if the lids not secure you could end up leaking milk everywhere Test for salt and pepper pots is is it a steady stream of salt/pepper or do they need a vigorous shaking, how do they cope with moisture stopping the flow or if its a grinder how much mess if left on the table
